Hi Sean 👋 I attended on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed riding the trains of my childhood. Your coverage is excellent and covers every heritage train at the Expo. I think F1 should have done the Lavendar Bay trips and S28 to Rhodes. The Red Rattlers sounded amazing in the tunnels and crossing the bridge with the brake smell, making the experience truly magical. The added advantage of open windows would have been a bonus on such a hot day. S28 was extremely slow and hot with very little air flow and overcrowded on my trip. Excellent video. Well done Sean 👏 👍
Thanks John! Hope you had a wonderful time at the Expo seeing all the different heritage trains. Would have been nice to see F1 cross the HB for the reasons you mentioned. Could be wrong but I think F1 isn’t allowed to cross back southbound due to lack of clearance between F1’s wider body and the gap fillers at the arriving platform at Wynyard until a TOC waiver is sorted I guess. F1 would have to return to central via Hornsby and then the T9, making the trip way too long for an Expo shuttle. At least S28 can do those runs without the same issues :) Trains have to crawl up and down the Lavender Bay siding from the looks of things so hoping the airflow issue on S28 was only for a short time during the snails-pace part of the trip.
