Little known trivia: The hangar where this aircraft and the Enola Gay were modified to carry the A-bombs is across the field behind the museum. It recently received some damage from a small tornado and is being repaired.
That place would warrant several trips. I was there once as an ad on for a road trip with a good friend of mine (RIP) back in the early 90s. The original plan was just to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but we added that. We spent a day there and then realized there was another hanger to see. I am glad I went there as the Hall of Fame was a bit disappointing. I shall have to get back there as my wife would enjoy it too.

Thanks for the info. Has that area been open for public view, and will it again?
@@garydaniels5495 Not sure of the current status, but it has been open at times in the past.
This museum is tops! Highly recommend. One needs two days to take it all in. One day simply does not suffice.
agree, that’s why it’s so nice that admission and parking is free
I spent three days wandering around there in 2018. I could’ve spent a week. Definitely going back.
My father was a USAAF B-29 navigator 1944-1945. He died in 2016 age 94. I have his original flight jacket with squadron patch.
that is really cool
Been countless times i live right across from it beautiful place

Love thus place been about six times when I use to live in Ohio.
I was privileged to set at the Controls of Bockscar
that’s pretty cool
Oh, jeez....I think I made a boo-boo in one of my comments. You think I'd know better. I may not be admitted if I go to visit the Museum.
Wondered where 'Bock's Car' ended up, it was at the Pease AFB ( home of the 509th) gate for years before base closure.
Bockscar. It was never at Pease. You are confusing it with Great Artiste
Retired to the boneyard in 1946 and flown to Wright-Patterson in 1961. Learn how to do research.

So these folks have Bocks Car. And the Air and Space Museum has Enola Gay.
Correct
NMUSAF is at Wright-Patterson AFB, not Dayton
Can't wait to visit. Better be sure I get my Real ID or I won't get in.
@@garydaniels5495 you don't need ID to get in
