Thanks, Double G! That means so much to me! Funny story, I didn't really focus much on the Dreamlight Tasks until a viewer pointed out the Plaza Well transformations! That got me really curious about a potential 100% transformation! (Of course, there's no way to know yet, but I feel like we will get some kind of cool reward or wishing well level for 100% completion!) Now that I've started focusing on them, I'm hooked! Congratulations on getting yours all done! (At least the ones available!) That's a HUGE accomplishment, and I definitely respect the commitment!

@A R So, it's easy to miss, but when we first start the game, our plaza well is covered in vines. Once 10% of your dreamlight tasks are done, it becomes pristine, and a small sprout appears on the left. As you progress through your dreamlight tasks, the sprout will grow into a full tree, and a new tree will sprout on the right! Currently, the well has stages 0 (covered in vines) to 5 (polished and branding a fully grown tree wrapping around the left hand side). The plaza well reaches stage 5 when 90% of your dreamlight tasks are complete. Every single independent bar of the dreamlight tasks contributes to this total! It takes 427 dreamlight task bars to reach stage 5. (Event tasks do not count) I'm actually planning on making a video on this soon as most players aren't currently aware of this hidden mechanic. It's only noticeable if you catch the subtle changes to the well!
@DOUBLE G I'm days away from being done with mine and would have been done weeks ago buuuuut I wasn't really working on them. 😅 Honestly, I'm not worried or even hoping for more dreamlight tasks... I'd rather focus on what I've been doing before I shifted my focus to the dreamlight tasks, which is grinding for resources. I've saved up over 2K iron ingots and over 3K bricks just to make a tremendous amount of "iron spiked brick fence" I've spent over 1K gold ingots on "gold and opal road" and still have another 1K gold ingots in storage. I'm not concerned with more dreamlight tasks because I still have plenty to do! My point here is that working to complete these dreamlight tasks takes my focus away from things I'd actually be doing! 😂 I don't want to catch 260 fish in each biome... I WANT to mine more iron! 😂 That said, if you want more dreanlight tasks, I hope you get them at some point! My favorite thing to do in the game is decorate and design! I'd rather continue making that my focus. I only took a break from that priority to knocking out these tasks. Had I made this a focus sooner, I would have been done a while ago, but for now, I just want to get it over with! 😅 Also, once multiplayer rolls out, we'll have plenty to do, and I doubt we'll need new Dreamlight tasks. Especially with the design challenges and leader boards likely coming to the game! Nearly 600 hours into the game myself! (PC)

lmao I haven't touched the Sunlit Plateau either other than putting the Casita in the corner because it seems some of the foundation of the house looks like it fits the Sunlit Plateau. Truth be told, I haven't done much with any biome other than the plaza, meadow, and some of the beach.
That's so funny because that's the SAME order I went in! I have 3 biome tours posted on TH-cam at the moment and it's the EXACT 3 you just named! That said, I did recently finish the forest of Valor and I'm working on a video for that as we speak! It should be posted tomorrow morning! I think Casita is beautiful in the Sunlit Plateau. The colors just seem to fit there perfectly! Despite that, I actually decided to put Casita in my Forest of Valor build but I had a special reason for that! In the video I even discuss how perfect Sunlit Plateau is for Casita! Sounds like we have a similar outlook and approach! Cheers!

I'm really happy with it and it took so much stone. That's the only reason why my builds are going so slowly. The number of resources needed.
I just finished feeding them today. Dreamlight tasks are FINISHED for all animals except the rabbits. 2 days left for them. Feels good to finish those dreamlight tasks! 😁 Oh, and FYI you can actually feed 17 animals most days because the "unique" critters appear as extras every day except Wednesday! For the sake of finishing your dreamlight tasks, each animal can only be counted twice because there's usually only two of each. Some days you can get 3 because of the unique critters.
Oh. I'm at 6 million. I've been farming all the mats, storing everything. 😂 all those games like Ark, WoW, NeverWinter make you automatically save everything.
Hahaha, very true! If you're a gamer, you know the importance of resource hording! You never know what kind of items could drop in the future or what kind of costs will be associated with them! Always wise to horde like a dragon. 😁😂
Okkkkk!! My new favorite video!! ♥️♥️♥️ this is soooo incredibly helpful!! My daughter, Adriana enjoyed it too!! She laughed and made me replay the moment when Scar “floated” 😂😂 she is in early game and this will help her so much because she only likes to play for about 10 mins before getting bored or side tracked. She will add harvesting to Wall-E’s garden for right now, but she did say that she wanted it as a decoration for later in the game like you said. Did you know that if you have The yellow bar in your energy If you hold down B then you will be able to go on something that looks like a magic carpet ( I'm pretty sure this is only for Nintendo switch, but I haven't tried it on computer yet)
Yes. This was added into the game on update 4 quite a while back, and yes, it works on PC. We made a video about it last year when it was introduced. If you're wondering why I'm not gliding in this video, that's simple... This video is very old. If you check the upload date, you'll see it came out 10 months ago.... before gliding was in the game. For clarity, Dreamlight Valley plays the exact same across all platforms. The only major difference is that PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S are the only platforms that get the double item limit, and Playstation doesn't have cross-platform for this game. Aside from that, all versions of DLV are the exact same.

Hey Flapjack! So, unfortunately not. You can load your cloud save on any other platform, though. This is because Playstation doesn't allow cross cloud saving. It's unfortunate. Even with the new dreamsnaps feature, Playstation players will only be able to see and vote for other playstation players.
I was in the mid-game when I made this video. Most of the activities I perform here are all still relevant to the game today! Though, now that I'm in the late game, I tend to focus on other things! I still check Scrooges' shop daily, but I'm completely finished with Dreamlight tasks. I now spend much more time decorating, working on dreamsnap, and keeping up with Eternity Isle! 😁 That said, if you're a newer player or in the mid-game yourself everything discussed in this video should still be relevant to you! I hope that answers your question! 😁
I saw iron Sunday and again today. Iron was a huge PITA to get when I was grinding lvl 10 quests for Minnie and Buzz. So you know I’m stacking up when I see it. I’m also hoarding flowers too. 😂
No worries! Kristoff's stall is SUPER useful so that's a great question! Just progress through Kristoff's quests! Get him to level 10, complete his last quest, and BOOM! Fully upgraded stall! 😁
@The Papaw No apology necessary! I figured! I tested this yesterday, and I got iron ingots with salmon and bass! I believe you'll get cherries for crabs. Iron is definitely the best reward, though!
@The Papaw Hey! Got an update for you! Both of my foxes gave me dreamshards today when I gave them bass! Yesterday, they both gave me iron! I think it's the same with bass and salmon! Both have about the same chance to drop iron from what I've seen!
I feel like I only see iron once or twice a week in Kristoff's stall 🥲. Such a great tip to feed the foxes salmon to get iron though, I will definitely be implementing that thank you!

No, they won't disappear. We just may get more and I'd rather be done with these. Additionally, your plaza well actually levels up and transforms as you complete tasks!

Lol, I'm consistently sitting at 26mil star coins, and that makes me comfortable. I start to get nervous when I hit 25, but I don't actually spend a lot in the game anymore
Yeah, as of right now, there's not a whole lot to buy with Starcoins! The items in Scrooges shop really aren't that expensive. Once you have a few million starcoins you're pretty much set! I hope they add more expensive items and upgrades to the game to make starcoins a bit more valuable! For now, I don't focus on them too much!
This is true but there's a limit! They'll stack for 2-3 days, but lets say you don't play for 2 weeks. Sadly, you won't come to your valley and find 14 chests. There's a limit. I'd rather just get them daily or every other day! 😁
@@Probably_Senpai No, no expansion yet this was actually started as a curiosity for a free game to download on gamepass and now I am totally addicted! So, I am sure in no time I'll be seeking the expansion and other things to make the game easier. Thanks for your videos btw I see so many people restarting at like level 40 because of making mistakes like selling things off and rushing so being that I am only level 14 now it's not too late for me to start doing things right! :)
@stephaniebaker2079 You're very welcome! Haha, the game can certainly be addicting! It's a beautiful lifesim and there's just SO much to do! To be honest, having the expansion right from the start would probably get a tad overwhelming anyway. There's a ton to do in the base game. 😁

Every other day , a 3rd critter (in a biome) spawns for 6 hours , , usually a RaRe critter to feed. & Every weekend double critter feeding bonus. U can feed a (critter) in the morning, & the same (type) animal as soon as weekend (timer) refresh, , basically 'double 'fast. .
Yeah, we discussed this in the video. At this point I'm done with feeding the critters. I've hit 90 on all of them and almost all of my dreamlight tasks are complete! The point of this video was what you can do with "LIMITED" time. Limited time means not having a chance to log in multiple times a day but rather *just once* I stated that depending on when you log in bonus animals such as "The Brown Raven" "The Orchid Sunbird" "The Red Fox" "The White Squirrel" The Pink Croc" "The Black Seaturtle" Ect. could potentially get you 3 feeding opportunities even IF you only logged on one time. In short, this video discusses what you can accomplish logging in only once for a few moments. That's the whole point. I also discussed exactly what you're saying here, and most of us are well aware of the special companions. Hope that makes sense! 🙏
It's not every other day either, by the way! I'm pretty sure every day has a bonus or rare companion! Now I'm citing this from memory so I might be incorrect on one or two but I'm pretty sure it goes: Monday = Black Sea Turtle Tuesday = Brown Raven Wednesday = Blue Racoon Thursday = Calico Rabbit Friday = Orchid Sunbird Saturday = Red Fox + Pink Croc Sunday = White Squirrel + White Croc
I think feeding Ravens a 3 star meal gives a gold ingot, and feeding foxes Salmon gives a Silver ingot. (It’s not guaranteed as you can get Dream shards instead, but hey, there’s some free ingots for you. 😅)
Hey Eryn! Sorry for the late reply! It's called the elegant clock tower, and you can find it in your crafting menu once you collect the necessary materials. Absolutely loved this video. I’ve managed to knock out all of my Dreamlight Dutirs except for the recurring dailies. Right now I’m working on unlocking as many memory orbs as possible which means feeding the critters again, randomly digging, mining and fishing.

I'm pretty far along with memories, but the last 20 dried flowers I've watered haven't given me a single memory! 😭😭😭 It's such a grind! I hope Gameloft increases the amount of memories dropped from flowers in the future! A couple of weeks after making this video, I've managed to finish up all but 2 Dreamlight tasks! One is to remove nightthornes (which will likely take me a few more weeks), and the other is "repair houses," but we're stuck on that one until we get more characters and buildings. I'm excited to see if the Plaza Well is going to transform again once we do manage to hit 100%! Time will tell!
@@Probably_Senpai now that you mention it, I think the night thorn one is the only one I have left that’s possible right now. Slow & steady! Those pesky dried flowers aren’t giving me anything! So frustrating.
That's what everyone's saying! Not to mention spme days you log in, and it's raining right away, so you never get the chance to water your dried flowers. They're def the toughest memories to get, in my opinion.
I love the set up in your valley & I just wanted to ask if I could take inspiration from you with the set up? Absolutely love the idea of quite a few of the homes in the forest in a village type setting & a HUGE garden in the meadow. I know you probably won't mind but I think it's always nice to ask someone if you can plus if you don't mind, I'm sure you'd be happy that someone is taking inspo from you. Love all the videos.👍🏻

@Alyssa Taylor The iron route is clutch! I'll be making another helpful mining video in the near future! You may already know this, but just in case here's a really cool tip: The number of villagers you have with certain proffesions has a direct impact on their drop rate! For example, having one mining companion in your valley will give you a 20% chance for a +1 drop, having 2 gives 40%, and so on! Once you have 5 mining companions, you'll have a 100% chance to see a +1 duplicate for the last item mined out of the rock! If you go beyond 5, you'll get a 10% chance at a +2 drop with each additional miner! So, with 15 mining companions in your valley, you'll always see a +2 duplication! I have 16 mining companions right now. I'm garaunteed at least a +2 everytime with a 10% chance of seeing a +3 This really, really helps me when mining! Though, some players prefer to have more gardeners so they can duplicate veggies for starcoins! The math is a little different but the concept is similar! 😃 Hope you find that helpful! 😁

I just watched your video and I wanted to thank you for making this. I’d forgotten about the foraging dreamlight duties and realized that I’d forgotten about collecting the coconuts. 😅
Haha the villagers can be SO annoying when you're trying to build out a dreamsnap! They always want to be the center of attention! 😅 My advice is to seal off the biome where you're making your dreamsnap! You can use fences and other items to prevent villagers from getting in! If you want to use villagers, I recommend placing them where you want them and trapping them with some kind of decor so they don't ruin your shot! Cheers!
Hey Tina! The game is the same across all platforms! It actually supports cloud saving and is cross-platform. I can save my game on PC and then immediately open that same game on my Switch or Xbox. 😁 The only platform that can't perform cross compatible cloud saving is, unfortunately, Playstation. They still have the same exact version of the game we do, but due to playstation lives terms of service, cloud saving isn't supported.
@Tina Rash Lucky, yes! Crazy, not at all! The foxes have a lot of RNG involved when it comes to what they drop. We've been testing this with a lot of friends across all platforms. I mostly get iron for salmon. My friend mostly gets iron for crab and another friend mostly gets iron for bass. White Sturgeon is the only thing they are super consistent on since it's their favorite food! The foxes will typically drop up to x2 dream shards for sturgeon! That said, I'd rather get iron!
From the foxes? I usually do get iron! One of them randomly gives me dream shards sometimes! If you give them a white sturgeon, they'll always give dreamshards. Give them salmon or bass, and you'll get iron. I believe they give crabs for cherries!
Haha wow I missed this comment, apparently. So yes, iron ore to make iron ingots. Iron in general. Iron ore is iron. 😅 The reason iron is important to me is because I'm a very decor driven player. I love crafting and designing in my valley so iron is a very high priority for me. My 2 favorite fences require an abundance of iron so I'll always try to grab more whenever possible.

@Jam Shambles I've always gotten cherries from the foxes when I give them crab! I can show you loads of footage from my stream! The highest iron drop rate for me has been and continues to be salmon for whatever reason. There could be other variables we're missing here, such as time of day, RNG, and which foxes you feed. I'll have to do some more testing to determine what the factors are, and I'll gather some case studies from my community members as well. Maybe we'll get an answer on why our experiences are so different. Either way, this is how it looks for me. Bass = Iron Ingots 25% / dream shards 75% Salmon = Iron Ingots 75% / dream shards 25% Crabs = Cherries (???) / Iron Ingots (???) Can't give metrics for the crabs because, for me, it always seems to be cherries... White Sturgeon = x2 dream shards 100% This could be a cool thing to make a video about in the future. Either way, I'm intrigued by the 3 different experiences we are having in this thread alone. I'll ask my community members to each try and record their findings for a week, and I'll do the same. May I ask what time zone you're in and what hours of the day you typically play?

I wish I had footage that I could share in return, but I just play for me and sometimes my toddler. 😊 It's definitely interesting and I would be up for a video on this! I love data and such though. Chuck me a spreadsheet and I'm in heaven 🤣 I've already fed today, I tried with salmon after watching your video and got one iron ingot and one dreamshard. I'll be paying more attention from now on though. I'm London, UK, so currently GMT and I mostly play at this time of day unless I'm trying to get a particular critter. So usually 8.30pm-midnight(ish).
At first I didn't know why you were trying to buy so many materials like iron but then I see you've made a ton of past and fencing around your Valley. I've decorated but I do like the natural biomes and I haven't done too much in the way of path because it's very difficult on the switch for me to get it where I would like it to be
I have tons of friends that play and Switch. I'm very familiar with the struggles you all face in terms of decorating using the platform. I hope an easier method comes along. With almost 900+ hours of game time, all I currently have left to keep me entertained is building/decorating/designing so I tend to focus on making pretty elaborate builds. I'm done with all the quests, dreamlight tasks, and nearly all the collections that I can be. Since, I create daily content around DDLV for a living, it's important to focus on whatever I can to keep me busy and entertained. Not to mention, I LOVE building and creating. It's my favorite aspect of the game and I'm nowhere close to finished!
Yes! This is true! I typically feed the crocs lobster because it's their favorite and they give bonus dreanlight shards! I like to feed the foxes salmon because they give me bonus iron ingots. (Different foods = different rewards)

@Kiley Joanna Yeah, it's pretty cool but also pretty dang complicated (or so we've discovered!) Several of us are getting different rewards from the foxes. Some animals are prefty consistent in what they give you, and the reward for "favorite food" seems to always be dreamshards. Though, some of the other rewards are seemingly different for different players!

lmao I haven't touched the Sunlit Plateau either other than putting the Casita in the corner because it seems some of the foundation of the house looks like it fits the Sunlit Plateau. Truth be told, I haven't done much with any biome other than the plaza, meadow, and some of the beach.
That's so funny because that's the SAME order I went in! I have 3 biome tours posted on TH-cam at the moment and it's the EXACT 3 you just named! That said, I did recently finish the forest of Valor and I'm working on a video for that as we speak! It should be posted tomorrow morning! I think Casita is beautiful in the Sunlit Plateau. The colors just seem to fit there perfectly! Despite that, I actually decided to put Casita in my Forest of Valor build but I had a special reason for that! In the video I even discuss how perfect Sunlit Plateau is for Casita! Sounds like we have a similar outlook and approach! Cheers!

I feed all the animals, 16 each day during the week, 18 on Saturday and 34 on Sunday.
I just finished feeding them today. Dreamlight tasks are FINISHED for all animals except the rabbits. 2 days left for them. Feels good to finish those dreamlight tasks! 😁
Oh, and FYI you can actually feed 17 animals most days because the "unique" critters appear as extras every day except Wednesday!
For the sake of finishing your dreamlight tasks, each animal can only be counted twice because there's usually only two of each. Some days you can get 3 because of the unique critters.
Oh. I'm at 6 million. I've been farming all the mats, storing everything. 😂 all those games like Ark, WoW, NeverWinter make you automatically save everything.

Yes. This was added into the game on update 4 quite a while back, and yes, it works on PC. We made a video about it last year when it was introduced.
If you're wondering why I'm not gliding in this video, that's simple... This video is very old. If you check the upload date, you'll see it came out 10 months ago.... before gliding was in the game.
For clarity, Dreamlight Valley plays the exact same across all platforms. The only major difference is that PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S are the only platforms that get the double item limit, and Playstation doesn't have cross-platform for this game. Aside from that, all versions of DLV are the exact same.

Hey Flapjack! So, unfortunately not. You can load your cloud save on any other platform, though. This is because Playstation doesn't allow cross cloud saving. It's unfortunate. Even with the new dreamsnaps feature, Playstation players will only be able to see and vote for other playstation players.

How has this changed in the year since?
I was in the mid-game when I made this video. Most of the activities I perform here are all still relevant to the game today! Though, now that I'm in the late game, I tend to focus on other things! I still check Scrooges' shop daily, but I'm completely finished with Dreamlight tasks. I now spend much more time decorating, working on dreamsnap, and keeping up with Eternity Isle! 😁
That said, if you're a newer player or in the mid-game yourself everything discussed in this video should still be relevant to you!

I saw iron Sunday and again today. Iron was a huge PITA to get when I was grinding lvl 10 quests for Minnie and Buzz. So you know I’m stacking up when I see it. I’m also hoarding flowers too. 😂

No worries! Kristoff's stall is SUPER useful so that's a great question! Just progress through Kristoff's quests! Get him to level 10, complete his last quest, and BOOM! Fully upgraded stall! 😁

@The Papaw Hey! Got an update for you! Both of my foxes gave me dreamshards today when I gave them bass! Yesterday, they both gave me iron! I think it's the same with bass and salmon! Both have about the same chance to drop iron from what I've seen!

No, they won't disappear. We just may get more and I'd rather be done with these. Additionally, your plaza well actually levels up and transforms as you complete tasks!

Yeah, as of right now, there's not a whole lot to buy with Starcoins! The items in Scrooges shop really aren't that expensive. Once you have a few million starcoins you're pretty much set!
I hope they add more expensive items and upgrades to the game to make starcoins a bit more valuable!

Blue chest stack so if you don’t get it one day but login on the next day then 2 blue chests will spawn etc etc
This is true but there's a limit! They'll stack for 2-3 days, but lets say you don't play for 2 weeks. Sadly, you won't come to your valley and find 14 chests. There's a limit. I'd rather just get them daily or every other day! 😁

Every other day , a 3rd critter (in a biome) spawns for 6 hours , , usually a RaRe critter to feed. & Every weekend double critter feeding bonus. U can feed a (critter) in the morning, & the same (type) animal as soon as weekend (timer) refresh, , basically 'double 'fast. .
Yeah, we discussed this in the video. At this point I'm done with feeding the critters. I've hit 90 on all of them and almost all of my dreamlight tasks are complete! The point of this video was what you can do with "LIMITED" time. Limited time means not having a chance to log in multiple times a day but rather *just once*
I stated that depending on when you log in bonus animals such as "The Brown Raven" "The Orchid Sunbird" "The Red Fox" "The White Squirrel" The Pink Croc" "The Black Seaturtle" Ect. could potentially get you 3 feeding opportunities even IF you only logged on one time.
In short, this video discusses what you can accomplish logging in only once for a few moments. That's the whole point. I also discussed exactly what you're saying here, and most of us are well aware of the special companions. Hope that makes sense! 🙏

I think feeding Ravens a 3 star meal gives a gold ingot, and feeding foxes Salmon gives a Silver ingot. (It’s not guaranteed as you can get Dream shards instead, but hey, there’s some free ingots for you. 😅)

if you are referring to the "elegant town square clock", it can be crafted with 200 stones, 100 hardwoods, 30 gold ingots, and 10 blue passion lilies

Absolutely loved this video. I’ve managed to knock out all of my Dreamlight Dutirs except for the recurring dailies. Right now I’m working on unlocking as many memory orbs as possible which means feeding the critters again, randomly digging, mining and fishing.

I'm pretty far along with memories, but the last 20 dried flowers I've watered haven't given me a single memory! 😭😭😭 It's such a grind! I hope Gameloft increases the amount of memories dropped from flowers in the future!
A couple of weeks after making this video, I've managed to finish up all but 2 Dreamlight tasks! One is to remove nightthornes (which will likely take me a few more weeks), and the other is "repair houses," but we're stuck on that one until we get more characters and buildings.
I'm excited to see if the Plaza Well is going to transform again once we do manage to hit 100%! Time will tell!
@@Probably_Senpai now that you mention it, I think the night thorn one is the only one I have left that’s possible right now. Slow & steady! Those pesky dried flowers aren’t giving me anything! So frustrating.
That's what everyone's saying! Not to mention spme days you log in, and it's raining right away, so you never get the chance to water your dried flowers. They're def the toughest memories to get, in my opinion.
I love the set up in your valley & I just wanted to ask if I could take inspiration from you with the set up? Absolutely love the idea of quite a few of the homes in the forest in a village type setting & a HUGE garden in the meadow. You may already know this, but just in case here's a really cool tip:
The number of villagers you have with certain proffesions has a direct impact on their drop rate!
For example, having one mining companion in your valley will give you a 20% chance for a +1 drop, having 2 gives 40%, and so on!
Once you have 5 mining companions, you'll have a 100% chance to see a +1 duplicate for the last item mined out of the rock!
If you go beyond 5, you'll get a 10% chance at a +2 drop with each additional miner!
So, with 15 mining companions in your valley, you'll always see a +2 duplication!
I have 16 mining companions right now. I'm garaunteed at least a +2 everytime with a 10% chance of seeing a +3
This really, really helps me when mining! Though, some players prefer to have more gardeners so they can duplicate veggies for starcoins! The math is a little different but the concept is similar! 😃

I just watched your video and I wanted to thank you for making this. I’d forgotten about the foraging dreamlight duties and realized that I’d forgotten about collecting the coconuts. 😅
I was doing my dreamsnap and I had to shove Maui out of the shot he was dancing for a good 3 mins and I’m just like really is this necessary !!!!
Haha the villagers can be SO annoying when you're trying to build out a dreamsnap! They always want to be the center of attention! 😅
My advice is to seal off the biome where you're making your dreamsnap! You can use fences and other items to prevent villagers from getting in!
If you want to use villagers, I recommend placing them where you want them and trapping them with some kind of decor so they don't ruin your shot! Cheers!

Hey Tina! The game is the same across all platforms! It actually supports cloud saving and is cross-platform. I can save my game on PC and then immediately open that same game on my Switch or Xbox. 😁
The only platform that can't perform cross compatible cloud saving is, unfortunately, Playstation. They still have the same exact version of the game we do, but due to playstation lives terms of service, cloud saving isn't supported.

The foxes have a lot of RNG involved when it comes to what they drop. We've been testing this with a lot of friends across all platforms. I mostly get iron for salmon. My friend mostly gets iron for crab and another friend mostly gets iron for bass.
White Sturgeon is the only thing they are super consistent on since it's their favorite food! The foxes will typically drop up to x2 dream shards for sturgeon! That said, I'd rather get iron!

From the foxes? I usually do get iron! One of them randomly gives me dream shards sometimes! If you give them a white sturgeon, they'll always give dreamshards. Give them salmon or bass, and you'll get iron. I believe they give crabs for cherries!

The reason iron is important to me is because I'm a very decor driven player. I love crafting and designing in my valley so iron is a very high priority for me. My 2 favorite fences require an abundance of iron so I'll always try to grab more whenever possible.
I rarely get an iron ingot from feeding salmon to the foxes. I usually get dreamlight shards. 😢 I get iron perhaps 1 time in 5.

9 times out of 10 crab gets me iron ingots from foxes.
@Jam Shambles I've always gotten cherries from the foxes when I give them crab! I can show you loads of footage from my stream! The highest iron drop rate for me has been and continues to be salmon for whatever reason. There could be other variables we're missing here, such as time of day, RNG, and which foxes you feed. I'll have to do some more testing to determine what the factors are, and I'll gather some case studies from my community members as well. Maybe we'll get an answer on why our experiences are so different.
Either way, this is how it looks for me.
Bass = Iron Ingots 25% / dream shards 75%
Salmon = Iron Ingots 75% / dream shards 25%
Crabs = Cherries (???) / Iron Ingots (???)
Can't give metrics for the crabs because, for me, it always seems to be cherries...
White Sturgeon = x2 dream shards 100%
This could be a cool thing to make a video about in the future. Either way, I'm intrigued by the 3 different experiences we are having in this thread alone. I'll ask my community members to each try and record their findings for a week, and I'll do the same.
May I ask what time zone you're in and what hours of the day you typically play?

At first I didn't know why you were trying to buy so many materials like iron but then I see you've made a ton of past and fencing around your Valley. I've decorated but I do like the natural biomes and I haven't done too much in the way of path because it's very difficult on the switch for me to get it where I would like it to be
I have tons of friends that play and Switch. I'm very familiar with the struggles you all face in terms of decorating using the platform. I hope an easier method comes along.
With almost 900+ hours of game time, all I currently have left to keep me entertained is building/decorating/designing so I tend to focus on making pretty elaborate builds.
I'm done with all the quests, dreamlight tasks, and nearly all the collections that I can be.
Since, I create daily content around DDLV for a living, it's important to focus on whatever I can to keep me busy and entertained. Not to mention, I LOVE building and creating. It's my favorite aspect of the game and I'm nowhere close to finished!
I def took your advice about the dark wood farming. Its also where I placed my haunted theme park but getting the paths down is tough

Yes! This is true! I typically feed the crocs lobster because it's their favorite and they give bonus dreanlight shards! I like to feed the foxes salmon because they give me bonus iron ingots. (Different foods = different rewards)

@Kiley Joanna Yeah, it's pretty cool but also pretty dang complicated (or so we've discovered!) Several of us are getting different rewards from the foxes. Some animals are prefty consistent in what they give you, and the reward for "favorite food" seems to always be dreamshards. Though, some of the other rewards are seemingly different for different players!
