They detect false starts with an electric pad on the starting blocks. Detecting the force is much more accurate
the human eye is not accurate, especially from a 60 fps video
The naked eye could distinguish fine human hair, or about 0.04 mm in width. From speaker starting block to runner’s ear about 1 m, or 3 ms. 0.04 mm eye resolution translates to 0.0012 ms, order of magnitude better. Also runner reaction time better than 0.1 second gets disqualified.
Not a false start if it’s less than 0.1 second.
