      Most of this can be recreated when stuff goes on sale. The snare wire can easily be obtained from guitar string.
      Keep the coiled ends and do not use the eyelets, they are the weakest point.
      Black pepper is a lot more effevtive than bandaids in most cases and has antibacterial properties. Plus gives you something to season with.

      @@ragamuffin1588 yes I have. On a personal basis. 2 dog bites and multiple cuts. It works. And it even alleviates pain simular to most pain relievers on the shelf in most cases.

    I laughed at the "multi tool" but the addition of the yoyo reel is fantastic. The yoyo reel also brings the $30 price to be more reasonable.

    I believe the
    L-hooks are in that packet to make a simple reel to use with the the eye screws and a wooden pole. You screw them in close to the end facing opposite and wind the line between them.

    Just be aware, in a lot of States, using a Yo-Yo Reel is not exactly Legal. The same thing with Bank
    (Trot) Line Fishing. The Gist of it is they want you leaving your equipment unattended. However, in
    a survival situation, they can take their regulations and well... You know the rest😎

    • @h3llrayzor59

      @@canbee1252 It's illegal in CA (Go figure) Same with a static "Trot Line" I don't know about where you are? Check your Local regulations. In an Emergency I would use it. Like say in a Survival Kit/ Bag maybe. Even then, it wouldn't be my first choice over several static (Trot) Lines.

    I've seen a very similar kit like this from Ready Hour, most of the components may be almost identical except in quantity.. The "L" screws are part of the rudimentary fishing pole: you can screw them into the pole facing opposite directions near the handle, and wrap your fishing line around them as a sort of primitive reel. That's a LOT of stuff in that kit for just an emergency fishing/hunting kit! It's practically enough to form the basis of your first fishing tackle box... in fact, I dare say that has a LOT more stuff in it than my first fishing tackle box: give this kit plus an empty tackle box as a gift to a beginner fisherman, perhaps?

    I like the multitool idea. If you stick yourself with a hook, you might need to wire cutter or knife to get it out. I would also add the band-aids and an iodine prep pad or two in a waterproof bag. First survival fishing kit I've seen with it. I also like the yo-yo reel. If you're in a survival situation, you have a lot of other things to do beside fish.

    One of the uses for those zip ties would he to help keep the bands on a Y stick for the sling shot kit. Or another idea is if you need cordage you can use you're shoe laces and then use the zip ties to keep your shoe's on you tight. Definitely a great addictive to any survival bag.

    Not bad for the price and size. Personally I don't see why anyone would use monofilament line circa 2020, except that it's the cheapest option I suppose. For the size of the kit you could certainly ditch it and get some good braided line in kevlar, uhmwpe, etc. Some Fireline or Spiderwire would be stronger, thinner, more abrasion resistant take less of a set/kink. But overall not bad!

    I don't think the YoYo reel actually reels the fish in, when a fish goes for the bait the reel sets the hook in its mouth.Unless the fish is really small there's not enough spring tension to reel it in. Still a decent item to include in this kit. Thanks for the review.

  • @mrhalfstep
    @mrhalfstep 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've seen other reviews that you've done and, I'm sorry, but this one just isn't up to par. I know you know better than this.Your words, "and we have 5 safety pins. And always good to have those, too". Please explain why, in a fishing/hunting kit. What are the zip ties for? I think most subsistence fisherman, and I'm certain that ALL survivalist, would trade those swivels for an equal number of hooks, any day of the week. A swivel is a convenience item and totally unneeded in a survival scenario. Surgical tubing slingshot bands suck and if you don't understand that, you shouldn't review fishing/hunting kits that have slingshot bands as their only actual hunting component. Snaring isn't hunting, BTW. I, and I think others that follow you, would like to see you DEMONSTRATE why you think that $3 multi-tool "will probably be okay". Will it cut the snare wire? As you said the pliers are the main tool, but all the other tools have no use at all in the context of this "themed" kit. Furthermore, if you make the swap-out from the included tool to a Micra, as you recommended, you just doubled the price of the kit and threw part of the original kit away. Where is the value in that? 7/11/2021, Speed Hooks, $3.50 each, YoYos, $5.00 each on Amazon and the Speed Hooks are much lighter and take up less room. 20 FEET of 50# line and 100 YARDS of 8# test line is like Bizarro World backwards for any survivalist. The formula, at its simplest is, Lots of heavy line to reach the water and enough light line to make short semi-invisible leaders and package it as small as possible. I recognize the 8# test as a much bigger than necessary spool that is sold in Meijer stores for about a buck and a half. I think it is pathetic that this kit counts every sinker, hook, swivel, ball bearing, safety pin, eye ring, L hook, etc as a "piece" of the kit and your positive endorsement just smells "fishy" to me.

  • @jamesvickery308
    @jamesvickery308 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kit in itself is a joke. 6 six ball bearings...better be a squirrel sniper with a slingshot, if you can make one (Hint....it takes lots of practice, even if you can find the right kind of branch for). No decent cutting tool; multi-tool is garbage, and its sheath is garbage. Derma-Safe knife is an adequate cutting tool, but there are far better choices.
