I usually don't spoil movies for myself, but I just had to watch your review, and I was gonna wait to see it this Friday because I couldn't go see it this past weekend. Now I'm eager to see it sooner, going today after work. ✨️
I think he did. He renounced the destructive Joker persona in favor of his own identity. A very unexpected, but undeniably intriguing direction for them to take the character in. :)
Everyone hated it because it didn’t align with their power fantasy (I was literally the only one in the theatre when I saw it on Friday) but I feel like it was a perfect conclusion to Arthur’s arc. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. I think that he should have run off with the followers at the end only to be disgusted by their brutality and have Lee want nothing to do with him and the followers kill him, with the final shot the city in ruins with all the people in joker makeup dancing around like how he did in the first movie. I thought the theme of the movie being “reality always catches up to you” when it would have been so easy to make a generic power fantasy was a brilliant subversion and the whole movie was beautifully done and perfectly acted.
Yeah there were only like 10 people in the theater where I saw it. Something tells me they ain't making a billion dollars this time around. XD And that would certainly have been a poetic ending, for sure, but for me I was pleased they had him get killed by his own replacement. Since one of my major issues with the first film was how lame Arthur was as the Joker, this way they "fixed" the continuity of this particular Batman mythos. But yeah, people wanted like a jukebox Bonnie & Clyde, but they got something akin to a pretty slowly paced subversive take on 2002's Chicago that actively pissed all over their wants and expectations. And I respect the hell out of it for that. XD
@@TH3F4LC0NxArthur didn’t need to be “cool” or like every other joker that’s what made this version unique we have so many other jokers that are scheming masterminds for you to like plus I don’t think it would be the same story If he was
Hehe, so it literally turned into "You know how I got these scars" origin story. I really hope this was the plan all along because the "bait and switch" of that scale feels quite unique. I can't deny, it's even more satifsying due to sheer disappointment of fans... I love that. But then that's cuz, I despise internet fanbases and cult fans in general, who are as much enemies of art as corporations. The sweetest part is WB suits are prolly losing their shit! Their next dc reboot is stillborn now. "A movie for no one but himself" that is ballsy indeed in our washed-out times. What the first movie fails so miserably at was already done brilliantly in Limehouse Golem, but being a part of "bait and switch" twist does make Joker actually stand on its own, ironically. Think I'll watch it then, such a fat and original subversion must not go unpraised, it WILL age like a fine wine. You know, everything exists on a spectrum, but every spectrum is a circle. Push hard enough in any direction and you'll end up right back where you started. Subversion works like that too, it will always make a full circle. "A nothing he was, to a nothing he returned"
Well, the first film was conceived as a standalone, so I don't think this was really the plan "from the start", so to speak, but yes, the sheer size of the bait and switch they pulled is honestly impressive. There is no way WB is making a billion this time around. XD It really does feel like they pushed the subversion so far they came full circle. XD
@@TH3F4LC0Nx Hmm, then that could've been done out of spite, if director was forced to make the sequel he did not want. Either way, the controversy around it is part of fun now.
@@TH3F4LC0Nx Its weird how when I thought "this can't possibly be an actual joker" the movies suddemly ended up agreeing. This genuinely could be a reality-check for so many people... as in the end this seems to be about how people will always betray you the moment you no longer enterntain their agendas. Perhabs the REAL tragedy is that dc and its fans dont need a cured or sane joker, it will always revert back to madness. There is always another replacement for the role...
I'm flattered by your offer, but no, I don't really have anything like that set up. I'm blessed enough that everything I do on the channel I can fund myself, so I really don't have sufficient cause I think to ask for donations from anyone. But thank you for the offer! :)
@TH3F4LC0Nx i dont think he believed batman wouldn't hit him. It was most likely a joke since he's the joker. I think you rather mean joker mistakenly believed he could succeed in a world with batman. Guess what, we don't live in a world with batman, but we got plenty of jokers. So maybe the first joker movie is more accurate to reality than you thought, and an important movie.

Hope you enjoy it! It's definitely not for all tastes, but it's certainly bold, unquestionably. :)
I thought Arthur recovered his humanity in the end

I liked the film-- and I'll admit that I liked the musical numbers.
The Joker song in the courtroom I thought was actually really slick. :)

Joker is lame even in batman. What makes him strong is that batman cant ever get to him.
He has nothing! Nothing to threaten him with! Nothing to do with all his strength! ;)
@TH3F4LC0Nx he has cronies. If you watch the movie with Jack Nicholson you'll see the fight at the end is pretty one-sided.
