      Glad you said this. I have a 2019 tacoma and I despise the way it drives. I can’t believe the thinkers at Toyota tested the 3rd gens and gave the green light to mass produce them. It’s pathetic. I’m about to trade it in for a frontier pro x 4.
      Toyota should have a class action lawsuit against them for the atrocity they gave the consumer with the 3rd gen Tacomas.

    Great review! I'm thinking about jumping off the Toyota Tacoma infatuation I've had. I've had 6 Tacomas and they are a great truck and so reliable. I literally have never had a problem with any of them.......but going to the turbo in my mind is going to be problems. I've had a Ford f 150 ecoboost twin turbo and and one of the turbos went to the farm with 60000 miles as well as the timing chain. So I learned my lesson about turbos and about Ford. LOL!
    But this Frontier has really grabbed my attention. I just might be making the switch. Thanks for your review, it helps me lean just a little bit farther towards the Frontier. 😂

    Barely moving & exaggerated turning wheels -steering wheel is heavy, but you sync up & quit doing that. quiet in the cab✔️Plop your phone on the charging pad, sound system ✔️ front camera parking✔️. to your knees lower back protecting support✔️feels powerful✔️ metal oil pan guard✔️ full sized spare tire✔️ my only gripes are could use a few more driver assist features & rear view mirror is too dark for the Leer cap- double whammy & non locking gas cap. Vehicle design lines are a thing of absolute beauty. Makes Tacoma look like a plain Jane.

    You might like the prox opposed to the 4x if you just want to daily drive & not go off road you might get an extra mile or 2 per gallon & they have aftermarket wedges you can put in the front bolts of the back seats that will lift the front of the rear seats up & give a better feel & extra inch or so foot room also consider people don't often buy midsized trucks based on backseat room as the full size & suv market dominates that market

    I really liked this truck on paper. Motor and tranny are rock solid. Even liked the looks on the outside and inside. Test drove one and it was just not the trick for me. Steering is heavy, felt like driving a big box, felt like a/c was not pushing enough air even on high setting and the typical Nissan interior. It’s a rock solid truck but just needs some refinements on the inside. I’m sure they will go 300,000 miles easy with proper maintenance and care. 👍🏻👍🏻

However, I need to make some adjustments because I find this truck's is sluggish. Im the type of person prefer to change lanes quickly on the freeway, and this truck isn't very responsive.

    The new Tacoma seems to be everything I don't want in a truck. This Pro4x is everything I do like about a truck, keep it simple stupid. Give me a NA v6 engine. The older Tacoma was a good truck and I would have picked that before the 2024s started coming out. One reason the old Tacoma had such a following, and most people ignore this factor, is that it didn't really have much competition. It wasn't because it was the most awesome mid size truck ever made, it was the more viable option at the time compared to a 16 year old design that needed this update. If I remove my personal bias against everything modern GM the Tacoma now has 3 strong rivals and the previous gen Tacoma is really showing it's ass now compared to what we can get these days.

    This would be the perfect small truck if it was a few grand cheaper. Even this redesign is still too outdated to be priced so close to the more advanced competition (2023 GM twins and 2024 Tacoma). Don't get me wrong, I really like the smaller size and old school nature of the 2023 Frontier, but it should top out at around $43k USD, fully loaded, not $47k. That said, ALL trucks are absurdly overpriced these days, so that's not just a Frontier problem.

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasonbellcars The Trail Boss is the worst trim of the new Colorado in my opinion. It's basically an overpriced work truck with a bit of off road capability. GM aggressively decontented that truck to protect the ZR2. The only Colorado trim that looks good to me is the Z71 and it's $48k fully loaded, but is still missing basic features like homelink. I tend to agree that, despite its shortcomings, the Frontier still suits me better. However, I'm still waiting to drive the new Tacoma before I make a purchase. This will likely be my last truck purchase, so I need to get it right.

I’ve been hating driving anywhere since I purchased it. 26k miles in and I’m on my 3rd fuel pump, 16 mpg average, shifty shuddering transmission, terrible laggy throttle response, can’t even use the cruise control due to the truck not having proper gearing to take the vehicle into overdrive and keep it there. Constantly downshifting. By far the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’ve been eying the frontier since 2022. I’m probably gonna get one. Luckily this pos lemon tacoma is still valued at 40k.
