Got rid of my tacoma and bought a 23 pro4x.. can't believe the difference .. so much better handling, fuel mileage, engine power, seat comfort, gauges and the offroad handling is much more predictable. No more gear hunting... 😊
Glad you said this. I have a 2019 tacoma and I despise the way it drives. I can’t believe the thinkers at Toyota tested the 3rd gens and gave the green light to mass produce them. It’s pathetic. I’m about to trade it in for a frontier pro x 4. Toyota should have a class action lawsuit against them for the atrocity they gave the consumer with the 3rd gen Tacomas.
@@dom3141 you must live in flat land country. I live in northeast Tennessee with quite hilly terrain. I am seriously thinking about trading in my 2023 tacona TRD OR truck. Tired of getting onkt 15.5 to 17.7 mpg driving it around in tge tri cities by jingsport and johnson city, tn areas.
Randomly got recommended to me but this truck is definitely what I was considering when I was shopping for one. I ended up getting a Tacoma for a great deal but this truck is so nice and always catches my eye when I see it on the road and the ride quality is so nice. If you’re seeing this and haven’t decided yet, definitely go with this truck you won’t be disappointed
I had a 2007 Nissan frontier 2x4 manual with over 150K. I traded it back in 2019 for the Tacona trdpro Voodoo Blue manual that I currently own and drive daily. The Nissan was more comfortable, but I still love my blue unicorn. 💙 Nissan makes great trucks
I'll have to agree, just picked up a 23, Cardinal Red Pro-4x. What sold it to me was the good old fashioned hydraulic assist power steering. Love that feel and will be great for off-roading.
Great review! I'm thinking about jumping off the Toyota Tacoma infatuation I've had. I've had 6 Tacomas and they are a great truck and so reliable. I literally have never had a problem with any of them.......but going to the turbo in my mind is going to be problems. I've had a Ford f 150 ecoboost twin turbo and and one of the turbos went to the farm with 60000 miles as well as the timing chain. So I learned my lesson about turbos and about Ford. LOL! But this Frontier has really grabbed my attention. I just might be making the switch. Thanks for your review, it helps me lean just a little bit farther towards the Frontier. 😂
Barely moving & exaggerated turning wheels -steering wheel is heavy, but you sync up & quit doing that. quiet in the cab✔️Plop your phone on the charging pad, sound system ✔️ front camera parking✔️. to your knees lower back protecting support✔️feels powerful✔️ metal oil pan guard✔️ full sized spare tire✔️ my only gripes are could use a few more driver assist features & rear view mirror is too dark for the Leer cap- double whammy & non locking gas cap. Vehicle design lines are a thing of absolute beauty. Makes Tacoma look like a plain Jane.
Nice video! I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road V6 4x4 manual. I’m considering this truck because I’m tired of driving in Atlanta traffic with a manual. The only thing stopping me is the concern I keep seeing about rear diff leaks. That’s a huge expense. I need reliability over everything else.
You might like the prox opposed to the 4x if you just want to daily drive & not go off road you might get an extra mile or 2 per gallon & they have aftermarket wedges you can put in the front bolts of the back seats that will lift the front of the rear seats up & give a better feel & extra inch or so foot room also consider people don't often buy midsized trucks based on backseat room as the full size & suv market dominates that market
I have a 22’ pro-X in Cardinal Red, added a MBRP cat-back exhaust, leveling kit, 3” lift & added a locker to the rear diff. It’s perfectly capable of most off roading people would do 👍
Great truck. I'm a toyota guy....but nissan is close second. And when new tacoma comes out?? With no v6? Everyone will go to nissan. Just wish sentra, altima, rogue, murano had 9 speed automatics
Great review. I just bought a pro4x with technology, convience, and Fender upgrade.. Unfortunately leather is non-existent in NY. Are the cloth seats 0 gravity too?
Yes they're the same seats. Surprised you were able to get Fender audio but not the leather seats, I thought it was all bundled together in the Premium package.
I really liked this truck on paper. Motor and tranny are rock solid. Even liked the looks on the outside and inside. Test drove one and it was just not the trick for me. Steering is heavy, felt like driving a big box, felt like a/c was not pushing enough air even on high setting and the typical Nissan interior. It’s a rock solid truck but just needs some refinements on the inside. I’m sure they will go 300,000 miles easy with proper maintenance and care. 👍🏻👍🏻

If you upgrade the frontier with the Nismo suspension you'll realize how much the ride improves both on & off road also alot of people use steel wedges for the back seats in midsized trucks these days priority they where used by taller drivers in the front seats in many sports cars & smaller muscle cars

Strange that the android is not wireless. I have a 23 pro4x as well and apple carplay is wireless in mine. Have you checked the settings in your control center? You may just need to activate it to be wireless.
I traded my Camry TRD for a 2025 Frontier Pro-4X, and this is my very first truck. Why did I make the switch? I love camping. However, I need to make some adjustments because I find this truck's is sluggish. Im the type of person prefer to change lanes quickly on the freeway, and this truck isn't very responsive. Furthermore… I do miss my Camry TRD. So, while I'm stuck with this sluggish truck, I know it’s built for off-road use, and I just need to make some tweaks to better suit my driving style.
i have and love my fully loaded 2022 pro 4x, but i super HATE! the wheel well space, cant get good tire sizes at all, not even if you lift it. i also road trip all the time in mine, i have put 58k on mine in under 2 years and ive done a LOT of off-roading! in Colorado.i have a bunch of negatives to speak of when it comes to this truck, but i still love it, i really do. on a good highway long distance trip, i have hit 26mpg in mine lol.
Maybe someone knows the answer . I've been through mad videos and internet searches and cant get the right information. Everyone says the 23 Pro 4 x Steering is hard. The Steering on my Pro 4 x is so easy you can steer with your pinky !!! Whats going on ?
I'll be honest, the Frontier is a way better daily driver. The Tacoma might have the slight edge off-road, but for me, I'd rather daily the Frontier than the Tacoma -- even it it does look cooler.
@@tonyc5907 I literally just drove the Sportage Hybrid and the new CRV Hybrid. Both are great. If I had to choose...I'd probably go with the Sportage (the CRV's CVT was a little annoying), but you can't go wrong. I haven't driven the Rav4 Hybrid but I've heard it's excellent as well. It's a super competitive segment so all three are pretty good. Go drive them all and see which one you like best.

Even after draining excess oil and replacing the housing, it still leaked with 40-50 miles on it. It had a scuff right through the door panel on the inside and sat 1.5 inches higher on one side than the other. They must be rushing these tacomas at the plant... terrible
The new Tacoma seems to be everything I don't want in a truck. This Pro4x is everything I do like about a truck, keep it simple stupid. Give me a NA v6 engine. The older Tacoma was a good truck and I would have picked that before the 2024s started coming out. One reason the old Tacoma had such a following, and most people ignore this factor, is that it didn't really have much competition. It wasn't because it was the most awesome mid size truck ever made, it was the more viable option at the time compared to a 16 year old design that needed this update. If I remove my personal bias against everything modern GM the Tacoma now has 3 strong rivals and the previous gen Tacoma is really showing it's ass now compared to what we can get these days.
Go drive a PRO-4X! It's honestly great to drive -- and WAY better to daily drive than the Tacoma. I respect the Tacoma (and I own a 4Runner), but I'd take the Frontier any day to daily drive.
I've already seen leftover 2023 as of yesterday for about 4,000 off. It was a pro4x with tech. package and full tow package, with stupid dealer add ons for $39,000 and some change.
This would be the perfect small truck if it was a few grand cheaper. Even this redesign is still too outdated to be priced so close to the more advanced competition (2023 GM twins and 2024 Tacoma). Don't get me wrong, I really like the smaller size and old school nature of the 2023 Frontier, but it should top out at around $43k USD, fully loaded, not $47k. That said, ALL trucks are absurdly overpriced these days, so that's not just a Frontier problem.
I agree. If this exact truck could be had for $43k, I'm all in. I will say, I just spent a week with the new Colorado Trail Boss and I think I would still take the Frontier...
@@jasonbellcars The Trail Boss is the worst trim of the new Colorado in my opinion. It's basically an overpriced work truck with a bit of off road capability. GM aggressively decontented that truck to protect the ZR2. The only Colorado trim that looks good to me is the Z71 and it's $48k fully loaded, but is still missing basic features like homelink. I tend to agree that, despite its shortcomings, the Frontier still suits me better. However, I'm still waiting to drive the new Tacoma before I make a purchase. This will likely be my last truck purchase, so I need to get it right.

Back seat issue. Put a "wedge" in. I have back issues and bought a wedge to go under my pillow to angle me. works great and bring it when traveling. Problem solved.

Tink i should have bought a 2023 frontier pro4x instrad of tge 2023 tacoma trd off road truck. I sm a nig guy at 6'1" tall weighing 335 lbs, i simply do not fit good in the tacoma drivers seat. Might go trade it in on a frontier pro4x. Since i put 32 grand dowm on my tacoma on 4/29 i will not be upside down on the tradein process.

I bought a brand new 2019 tacoma. I’ve been hating driving anywhere since I purchased it. 26k miles in and I’m on my 3rd fuel pump, 16 mpg average, shifty shuddering transmission, terrible laggy throttle response, can’t even use the cruise control due to the truck not having proper gearing to take the vehicle into overdrive and keep it there. Constantly downshifting. By far the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’ve been eying the frontier since 2022. I’m probably gonna get one. Luckily this pos lemon tacoma is still valued at 40k. I don’t know how but it will be nice when I trade it in.

I bought this truck last month. Fender audio, cloth seats also in NY. Previous car was an 18 Altima. Both vehicles had the most comfortable seats.

Its a mid size why would you need rear a/c. But if you do it comes comes through floor under the front seats🙄

I have a ‘23 P4X. Android auto is not wireless, and ‘23 added auto stop/start which the ‘22 didn’t have. Apple CarPlay is wireless as well.
Strange that the android is not wireless. I have a 23 pro4x as well and apple carplay is wireless in mine. Have you checked the settings in your control center? You may just need to activate it to be wireless.

I bought a adapter for mine from Amazon it connects to the USB outlet and allows me to have wireless android auto.

It’s still hydraulic, on my 23 pro x it’s harder than my 24 duramax Chevy! But I like it builds muscle lol

It does have rear air but it comes from under the driver and passenger seat..not as good as a center vent but it works

I just bought a 2023 SV, it's very comfortable and pleasant as a daily driver. The gas tank does not lock.

Buy used and save yourself $8k. That’s what I did in California. Bought mine for $35,500 with 8,500 miles.

Back seat issue. Put a "wedge" in. I have back issues and bought a wedge to go under my pillow to angle me. works great and bring it when traveling. Problem solved.

too much crap on the dash and too many sensors. Give me a 1995 all the way up to a 1997 extended cab automatic four-cylinder two wheel and I would be happy to get rid of my 2022 Nissan frontier crew cab. These trucks our way over priced I should’ve never bought it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👎👎👎

Tink i should have bought a 2023 frontier pro4x instrad of tge 2023 tacoma trd off road truck. I sm a nig guy at 6'1" tall weighing 335 lbs, i simply do not fit good in the tacoma drivers seat. Might go trade it in on a frontier pro4x. Since i put 32 grand dowm on my tacoma on 4/29 i will not be upside down on the tradein process.
You wont fit in the frontier seats are too narrow
Randomly got recommended to me but this truck is definitely what I was considering when I was shopping for one. I ended up getting a Tacoma for a great deal but this truck is so nice and always catches my eye when I see it on the road and the ride quality is so nice. If you’re seeing this and haven’t decided yet, definitely go with this truck you won’t be disappointed
I bought a brand new 2019 tacoma. I’ve been hating driving anywhere since I purchased it. 26k miles in and I’m on my 3rd fuel pump, 16 mpg average, shifty shuddering transmission, terrible laggy throttle response, can’t even use the cruise control due to the truck not having proper gearing to take the vehicle into overdrive and keep it there. Constantly downshifting. By far the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’ve been eying the frontier since 2022. I’m probably gonna get one. Luckily this pos lemon tacoma is still valued at 40k. I don’t know how but it will be nice when I trade it in.
