100 Catfish Farm setup | Step by Step guide | Backyard Fish Farm

You can start a catfish farm right at your home. To setup a small scale catfish farm this is a guide to using a white (1000 Litres tank to achieve this).
Backyard fish farms are a great way to start and learn the ropes of fish farming before you scale up. It also helps in that it is not labour intensive and so can be managed by yourself before you scale up. You would need a tank, source of water, juveniles, feeds and passion.
You might start small but don’t stay small !

There’s two breeds available. Clarias if you are raising the fish for 6 months and less, hybrid if you are raising the fish for 1 year and above

The quantity per meal is not determined before, it can be measure after. Some people can also feed a percentage of the body weight.

We change the water once it’s dirty. This might be fewer when the fishes are smaller and increases in frequency as the fish grow bigger. Please don’t even think about buying. It’s like saying a human being should buy Oxygen. It is possible on paper but unrealistic and unsustainable in real life.

Okay I would . However I must mention that for a small scale farmer you want to keep your expenses as lean as possible, you don’t want to waste money or inflate your budget too much. The benefits of probiotics don’t match the expense for a small scale farmer

Great question. Most local branded feeds 2mm is bigger than 2mm of imported feeds and thus your young fish can’t pick it up yet.

No sir, there is no shade in the ocean. For an earthen pond that is as deep as it should, there’s never any shade needed.

It’s best practice to sort your fishes. It’s not best practice to use only one tank for fish farming. However you can create a wooden frame to divide your tank inside.
