MsJGingerbread : Hijab simply means veil, cover, or curtain. Each culture/religion has its own unique style of ornamentation for the head. Islamic observation of hijab requires a woman to cover all of body, with the exception of the face, the hands, and the feet -- to which extent is regulated by cultural perspective. Please note that headwraps are not limited to any religion -- history, people have worn head dresses for many various reasons outside of religion. So... wrap it up, dress it up, rock it just as hard as you want to -- and I hope that you enjoy yourself while doing so. The only people that will be offered by you choosing to do so are those who do not understand history/culture/religion, and they really aren't worth trying to appeal to anyways. Peace ;-)
Glad I came across this video again after so many years. I have the urge to start being more modest by covering my hair. I love the turban styles. Will be incorporating them into my dressing. Thank you, Dina.
Love your tutorials Dina! Always very interesting to see the literal hundreds of ways the hijab can be worn. Most importantly, and I think some of the commenters could take this to light, YOU wear it the way that YOU want to wear it. Let nobody else tell you otherwise.
Idk why everyone makes such a big deal about that tiny slip of hair. If you look at her overall she is a lot more modest than most women today, but you all choose to focus on the fact that she's showing her hairline. Idk why we hijabis are always bashing each other when we all know how hard it is to wear hijab. Why can't we just let each other be??
I'm not Muslim but it seems to me that the rules regarding women and modesty have actually become stricter over time. I think the Taliban destroyed any rights that women may have had and other countries with sharia law followed suit. Even orthodox Jewish women only need to cover elbows, collarbones and knees. The Taliban forced women into a burka and it's been downhill from there.
+Tiny Po thank you. I'm not Muslim but a Hebrew isrealite. and yes I'm white get over it. but the first time I wore it to work some guy called me a dirty Muslim, like Muslim are the only women who have ever wanted to be modest out of respect for their religious views. +Hitlers TittyMilk If you're trying to help someone out, that isn't the way to do it. Everyone is at different levels on their faith, & people who constantly criticize others is what pushes them away from Islam. And this happens very often. After starting hijab, I'm more modest than I used to be, and I'm always looking to improve, but at my own pace. Eventually InshAllah I'll be even more modest in the future. Many hijabis end up taking it off out of frustration because people like to criticize about every little detail. Please just realize that no one is perfect, everyone is going at their own pace. And try to encourage rather than criticize. (:

So glad you've posted this video Dina Tokio , Just started college and i'm a recent hijabi and i have been wanting to experiment a little with different scarf styles, as well as trying out some bolder prints like the Liberty London ones
I totally just got so inspired by your tutorial that it grab a scarf and did it. I love how simple it was and it holds in place so easily. 1st time ever wearing a turban and i can't wait for another occasion. Keeps your head nice and warm on cold London afternoons. keep doing the good work. :)
☺ I have very nice waist length hair, brown with lovely natural gray streaks. I am 55yrs old. For a while now, I do not enjoy the attention my hair gets from men. Its just hair! not a come & get it sign! So I always wear it pinned up when in public. i want to wear a turban, thanks for the ideas☺ Have a great day ☺
Dina Tokio lookes really gorgeous in the Liberty London scarf. It really suits her complexion and her skin looks flawless especially with the bronzer/contour.
Could you please tell me the size of the scarf? I had chemo and did not get my hair back... I still believe one day it will grow back, but in the meantime I proudly wear scarfs as I love your style:)
I wanted to know if you can do a video showing how you do your base. I understand you are not able to show your hair but if it is a possible to have a non-muslim friend that you can demonstrate on. I love this look but I'm having trouble forming a base and the other videos I have seen already have their base on.
I tried the second look today. I really loved the way it turned out. I don't have a big scrunchie like Dina so I put a thick handkerchief over my bun and secured it with a hair elastic. It looks very similar.
+Diiiiiiiamilaa I know, but what I was saying is that if someome says "sister, please cover youself, that isnt hijab", then that isnt judging. I was guessing that you were addressing those people who say that because Ive only seen those comments so far

Your hijab tutorial really inspired me and loool I show a bit of my hair at front aswell and my friends said to me, “why u wearing a scarf if your gunna show your whole hair” and am like yea whatever they're just judging me
PinkySaadia I have actually asked Muslim and Orthodox Jewish girls I know about this question. Most don't cover their hair completely, because of persona perception. Some feel covered by wearing the scarf loosely, some have to cover every single hair to feel covered. It's a personal preference. If you look at different islamic countries and cultures you will also see that the kind of hijab varies. Some cover up completely, some only cover their hair, some only part of their head, and some people choose not to cover at all.
MsJGingerbread I agree, I show my edges...or hairline but not my hair as such like Dina does. I don't hide my hairline because then I feel like I'm wearing a hat!
MsJGingerbread apparently for every hair that a man sees you get the equivalent in bad deeds in your book. You are so beautiful! And the hijab is so beautiful! If I was a muslim, I think I would wear it, beacuse it also looks very pretty with arabic or middle-eastern features :D And it probably also has a nice symbol, but I don't know that much about that ^_^
Love it. What is the black scarf that you have on your head before you put your scarf on. I love your eyebrows. Do you have a video. One more question what do you use on your skin. Thank you
Thank you Dina Tokio for the video with the new Liberty London scarf, I love the print on the scarf so much and can't wait to go to the web site and see more. You have helped me so much in learning how to wear my hijib and enjoy it was well. Keep the videos coming ♥
I know this post is old, but I absoultely love your style ! I also love the turban look. I typically will wear the turban look on my bad hair days , which is alot these days. Due to i am transitioning to my natural hair, and some days I just can't deal ! lol. I also love the coat you wore in this video. Thumbs up! Keep the your video coming!
I'm in! I absolutely looove Liberty London - they have the most gorgeous prints and fabrics! And Dina Tokio ,the outfit which you matched with the scarf looked so classy and elegant x
I love the look. I have been looking around for a simple way to tie a scarf for an event I am going to. I am having eid al- fitr at the whitehouse and am wearing a red dress with purple floral detail. I am thinking of wearing a purple turban. What do you think?
asalamu alaykum sister this isn't hijab. I'm sorry but allah won't except this. Allah said hijab has to cover your hair and neck and chest may Allah guide us all
Hey, This turban look is so gorgeous. I just don't understand how that fits in with the hijab being about modesty. It is so beautiful that I think it looks even more attractive than hair would. How does that work? Thanks :)
And for those negative comments: maybe she is not following the tradition exactly as it should be (I haven't read the Coram) . BUT she is doing more for your Muslim culture and Arabian society than yourself. With people like her, people like me is able to get closer to your culture and reduce any apprehension
Dina Tokio I loved the tutorial been dying to find a nice square scarf to style. Liberty London scarves are absolutely gorgeous i would die to have one.
I have a random question for you Muslim ladies. Do you prepare your husband to be for what your hair looks like (style and colour)? Do husbands get disappointed when they see their bride without their hijab? I'm not trying to be ignorant or insulting, it's just something that popped in to my head.
RubyOpheliaQuinn Muslim women are actually allowed to show their hair to their to-be husband (not engaged yet) their hair once. If some women do not want to do that, then they are allowed to describe how the hair looks or show an older picture when they were not wearing the hijab, if that applies. If the man really loves the woman and does not mind seeing her hair, he waits until they are engaged, then as his fiance, she can show him her hair. Also another way for him to know what her hair looks like is to ask his mom or sister to tell him since they have probably seen her without it :)
Thank you! That was so interesting! I like that it's allowed one time. It didn't even occur to me that his female relatives would have obviously seen her without a hijab. In some ways I quite like that it's like a secret little club between just women. Another random question - if you're at home with your hijab off what do you do if someone knocks on your door? Do you put on your hijab or just chuck a scarf over your head?
RubyOpheliaQuinn you can put the hijab back on your head, it doesn't really take that long. Or just put a scarf in your head and name sure that everything that needs to be covered is
whenever u do it u make it look so simple.. but when I try I waste like 30 mins of my life, make a mess out of everything & then go with my regular style -_-
You are not the only one. I always want to try the hijab and turban styles on youtube... never works out for me so I end up with my regular style after wasting a lot of time. Just wish it would look as good on me as it looks on her
she didn't mention its a hijab anyway. only she and Allah knows her intention. keep our judgement to ourselves and may Allah swt gives hidayah to all of us.
I dont mean to be rude, but why are you gonna wear a "hijab" if you are not going to follow the rules established to wear it. I mean, the hair is showing, the neck is showing, and half of her arm is showing. When those areas should be covered.I mean everyone is free to do whatever he wants, but If you wanna do something do it properly. Thank you for your attention.
Don't mean to be rude but you could where a abaya and a sari and be the person who sins the most in the world. She could where mini skirts and have barely any sins. Don't point out stuff like that because it is rude
nadia mohamad not necessarily, at the end of the day Allah is the only one who can judge her, better than her being half naked and on the street. something is better than nothing.
For all viewers who thinks that her way of wearing is called the legitamed Islamic Hijab. ITS NOT. Islamic hijab should cover neck, ears, wide loose garments, long shirt on top to cover ur thighs even if wearing pants. A face with no make up, stupid way of taking and poses. legs should be covered and foot. In short what we see now on some Muslim women is painful and distorting the modesty of Islam. I resembling a cheap western version. May Allah enlightens us all.
***** he called muslim women that dress like her "a cheap western version". How is that not degrading? If you compare her to most women on earth she is modest.
So according to you its ok to click on a video and then basically insult everyone interested in watching it? If you don't like or think what someones doing is wrong or haram you're supposed to discreetly tell them which I doubt commenting on youtube counts as. People who want to watch the video are going to watch it regardless, she's going to wear her style regardless so ultimately the only thing being done by this person is public shaming in comments . If you don't like it or think its wrong just pick a different video to watch.
Sister if you want to wear a hijab go to Quran and read chapter of noor see what is the real rule of wearing hijab. Your hair is looking, half of your hands , and you are showing them to everybody its haram sister.
No it's not. She's clearly aware of what she's doing. Let her be, you don't know her so by leaving these irrelevant comments you're not "helping her" you're humiliating her and disrespecting her. Work on yourself since your clearly flawed and leave her alone.
Hana K Well said sis i totally agree with u. She can choose her style and no one have the right to criticise her. Its not ppls business. Allah can only judge us not ppl!
Sarah Falek but thats between her and allah, you shouldnt be saying stuff like that because thats what makes people sick of islam its ppl like you who think they are the haram police
OMG I said nothing!! I'm not the haram police in compare to others who said worse than me! I love this girl she is gorgeous but what makes me feel uncomfortable it's just her hair that we can see. That's it. People like me make others sick of Islam how dare you say that ?you don't even know me.
I'm not a Muslim woman, but every time I see the hijab I think it's so beautiful. It really is a profound statement, and a gorgeous act of worship. You and all the women who wear them are all gorgeous. God bless you.

I love the look. I have been looking around for a simple way to tie a scarf for an event I am going to. I am having eid al- fitr at the whitehouse and am wearing a red dress with purple floral detail. I am thinking of wearing a purple turban. What do you think?
Very helpful video. I am considering starting to wear the hijab and will practice this style x thank you x

Im loving the first tutorial turban style you showed! Really happy that you posted it! Its easier than it looks lol
Hey, This turban look is so gorgeous. I just don't understand how that fits in with the hijab being about modesty. It is so beautiful that I think it looks even more attractive than hair would. How does that work? Thanks :)
Thank you for this tutorial. I would love to see a makeup tutorial for the look you're wearing. You look gorgeous
And for those negative comments: maybe she is not following the tradition exactly as it should be (I haven't read the Coram) . BUT she is doing more for your Muslim culture and Arabian society than yourself. With people like her, people like me is able to get closer to your culture and reduce any apprehension
It’s Quraan💙 , However i agree i feel like she’s wearing it to show modesty more like wearing hijab itself
LOVE the look Dina Tokio! cant wait for the Liberty London scarves!
_Looking amazing as per usual, mash'allah_ *L O V E Dina Tokio*
heyy dina,i got a question please : how do you make the turban black scarf??? the first one the black? thanks for in advince :)
You look beautiful and first comment
Dina Tokio I loved the tutorial been dying to find a nice square scarf to style. Liberty London scarves are absolutely gorgeous i would die to have one.
I have a random question for you Muslim ladies. Do you prepare your husband to be for what your hair looks like (style and colour)? Do husbands get disappointed when they see their bride without their hijab? I'm not trying to be ignorant or insulting, it's just something that popped in to my head.
I think it really depends on the individual I suppose some do and some don't 😊
***** yeah cool question, never thought of that
RubyOpheliaQuinn Muslim women are actually allowed to show their hair to their to-be husband (not engaged yet) their hair once.
Or just put a scarf in your head and name sure that everything that needs to be covered is
This website is the best of the best and you do the turbans really good and it really works
whenever u do it u make it look so simple.. but when I try I waste like 30 mins of my life, make a mess out of everything & then go with my regular style -_-
You are not the only one. I always want to try the hijab and turban styles on youtube... never works out for me so I end up with my regular style after wasting a lot of time. Just wish it would look as good on me as it looks on her
Sabrina Samsuddin practice makes perfect
Hi Dina
thanks for sharing. I wonder what measurements are approximate of this scarf? is it a square one or a rectangle one?
thanks😉
she didn't mention its a hijab anyway. only she and Allah knows her intention. keep our judgement to ourselves and may Allah swt gives hidayah to all of us.
Love you Dina and this Liberty London scarf, xx
It's TURBAN tutorial not Hijab tutorial
This is Hijab. She believes that you don't need to cover your neck and you can only cover your hair. So, it's hijab.
Love these looks and the scarf ... Liberty London scarfs are amazing ...such an exciting collaboration with Dina Tokio
You are so beautiful !! I wish you happiness cute !!!
I really like the 2nd turban look at she did (obviously going to try it) . I think she's wears that style often I see it a lot in her videos
W😱Oo😱OW!😀
The turban style looks really nice on you
Im not even a muslim and im never gonna wear a turban why am i watching this .
you may not be Muslim, but we are really all sistas! Girl power :D
Cause Indians are obsessed with muslims. And not in a good way. Why else.
You look so beautiful here Dina, love your makeup! I'm not really a fan of the turban style personally but you look so elegant!
I k r
Don't mean to be rude but you could where a abaya and a sari and be the person who sins the most in the world. She could where mini skirts and have barely any sins. Don't point out stuff like that because it is rude
nadia mohamad not necessarily, at the end of the day Allah is the only one who can judge her, better than her being half naked and on the street. something is better than nothing.
shut the flip up you lovely people of the west :3
lol me?
Hi! Please where do you get the caps you wear under your turban? Looks really nice.. I really love them...:)
You are degrading Muslim women you piece of judgmental shit
***** he called muslim women that dress like her "a cheap western version". How is that not degrading? If you compare her to most women on earth she is modest.
+SSASMSKSR Why did you watch the whole video then?
So according to you its ok to click on a video and then basically insult everyone interested in watching it? If you don't like or think what someones doing is wrong or haram you're supposed to discreetly tell them which I doubt commenting on youtube counts as. People who want to watch the video are going to watch it regardless, she's going to wear her style regardless so ultimately the only thing being done by this person is public shaming in comments . If you don't like it or think its wrong just pick a different video to watch.
What does ratherlive in relity mean?
That was beautiful,Masha'allah...Can you Plz tell the hairstyle you are wearing for this Style?
Sister if you want to wear a hijab go to Quran and read chapter of noor see what is the real rule of wearing hijab. Your hair is looking, half of your hands , and you are showing them to everybody its haram sister.
No it's not. She's clearly aware of what she's doing. Let her be, you don't know her so by leaving these irrelevant comments you're not "helping her" you're humiliating her and disrespecting her. Work on yourself since your clearly flawed and leave her alone.
Yes it is! Also, I didn't say anything except the truth if you can't read it, is not my fault ok?
I didn't say I'm a great Muslim but I just wanted to tell her as much as I know. If u don't interrupt us it's gonna represent your Islamic manner
susan rayeen she doesn't read her comments because of people like you, keep it to yourself you aren't helping her.
Hana K Well said sis i totally agree with u. She can choose her style and no one have the right to criticise her. Its not ppls business. Allah can only judge us not ppl!
Love the tutorial Dina Tokio, can't wait to try it out! Liberty London's scarves are beautiful.
I see your hair so you dont wear hijab take it all off!!
hijab is more than"ur hair is showing" okay fatima?
You are right but hijab also means hide your hair :).
That's it. People like me make others sick of Islam how dare you say that ?you don't even know me.
yooya A you are so right!
Looks so simple, can't wait to try it!
