U made a good pick!! Coach Brooks spoke about the Owasu thing recently. Owasu went out mid season when she broke her finger & in the weeks she was out, the group of girls that were playing really starting firing on all cylinders & totally jelled together. When Owasu came back & started getting subbed in, there was a palpable shift & fracture in the dynamic. Coach Brooks said he had to make the decision that was the best for the team & that meant less playing time for O as he continued to go w/the girls who were jelling & winning game after game (making magic happen as I would say). He said he feels bad & understands why Owasu is upset but as a coach he has to do what is right for the team. U can tell he feels really bad for her. He obviously is doing something right & getting to the top comes w/very difficult emotional decisions most of the time. I would add that Owasu was understandably upset when she wasn’t immediately put back into a major playing role post injury & she made some comments on social media (that she prob shouldn’t have made imo). Also, her poor attitude & disrespect has been visibly noticeable to those of us watching. I’m sure it’s extremely difficult for her & it’s not her fault that things happened the way they did, but she should still be enjoying that she’s on a record breaking team that’s getting ready to play in the Final 4!!! It’s sad to see her looking so miserable. 😢 It is def hard riding the pine (esp if u r an All American I would imagine!) when u want to b playing so I feel for her, but I wish she was able to look past it for now & really take in what she & her team are experiencing right now. She’s a part of the team & part of the reason they’ve gotten to where they are & hopefully she realizes that.
