This core is no longer coachable. They do whatever they want, and while they often win during the regular season, it never translates to the playoffs. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, JT, and Rielly bring no violence to their game. The "FU gene" doesn’t exist in those players, and that is the Leafs' core.
You're right Rosie, they do know what it takes to win (Tampa on monday) the reality with the core 4/5 players is that the DONT WANT TO WORK like they did vs Tampa for every game, they dont have the drive, the desire to win..therefore they will never win..the core has to be dismantled just for the sake of resetting the mindset of this team.

He's all business (wait a minute this is starting to sound familiar)....yep that's right, he's not going to let our core take a night off (yeah, I'm almost CERTAIN I've heard this before)....Keefe has what it takes to get the full attention of these players because he knows how to get through to them! (annnnd.....well clearly that didn't work, but don't worry Leaf fans because the MLSE board says they figured out what the REAL problem has been these past 9-seasons....our core just didn't have the contracts they say they deserve! Turns out all our core needed was to have FOUR of the NHL's top-10 MOST EXPENSIVE (and least moveable) contracts....we just didn't give them enough control over the situation in Toronto! Wait....are you sure? Yes yes, we're sure that was the problem...oh and the coach of course...yes yes it was ALSO the coach...we need a no-nonsense coach who's going to....ummm....ugh, there's no way Toronto fans could be stupid enough to fall for this a 3rd time is there? Meh, let's try anyways) Leafs hire Berube "The Tough Guy" (2024)... yes that's right folks, we were just kidding around with those other coaches, we knew we needed Berube to get our core players playing responsible 2-way hockey with a full 60-minute effort each night. We just needed to wait until they got a bit older, had the worst work ethic in the NHL, and had the most control over the team before the time was right to hire Berube - this is bound to work! Stop ignoring the elephant in the room. The leafs outshoot the other team every game. They make some mistakes defensively, but nothing that should cost them a game. The question you should ask yourselves is Why do the leafs have Three 3rd string goalies that wouldn't even be a backup on any other team in the league? 8 years, 8 different starting goalies in net. Zero consistency. The leafs could have 5 austin Matthews's and they'd still struggle to make the playoffs allowing 5 goals per game. It's not as if they are difficult shots, deflections, screens or rebounds either. They are point blank shots that you rely on your goalie to save. The leafs should trade all three of their 3rd stringers for just ONE good starting goalie. Edit: no, stolarz is not a good goalie. Florida didn't even want him as their backup.
@bobknight6394 he's 3-2 in 5 games. When did he look good to you my friend? I'll admit his save % looks great on paper. But he has never started more than 28 games in a season. I wouldn't put faith in him necessarily
