Except he's doing it in a comedic 'serious' way though, where you can tell its a skit. And she does it in a proper serious drama way or real-to-life way. To be able to do the former you need an underlaying comedy baseline, but the latter needs the actual real reality to draw from that the actor relates to otherwise it wont be able to be expressed genuinely.

Lol it's kinda great how Mikey is mulling over the meaning of taking a break from volleyball as opposed to breaking up with volleyball. Kinda reflects the beginning. Also you guys are great at shifting the truth stepwise: At the beginning it seems Vivian is the GF and Phoebe the annoyance/ex-gf affair, in the end the roles are reversed: Mikey is actually still together with Phoebe and Vivian is the affair. Mikey is definitely a genius to be juggling this so skillfully.

Anytime I had a girlfriend say she wanted a break, I'd happily oblige. I'd then go radio silent for the next 4-8 days until they would invariably text me the typical probing questions when they felt the need for validation of the "Hi", "How are you", "What are you doing", and ultimately they would ask "What are you up to tonight?", You could hear the disappointment in their voice when I would say I was meeting up with an old friend for a few drinks, but had to run.
When you girlfriend meets your ex, try for a 3 way.
The problem being that "Let's take a break" to women means "I'm going to go sleep with another guy and want to ask for permission without literally telling you"
