* I sometimes wished I had been a DJ like 1985, 1986 but I was in college and did meet two or three of them and did wonder, how they really earned a living doing that so I focused on my studies. I let one DJ borrow my Love To Love You Baby - Donna Summer on Oasis 16:48 album and never got it back Another DJ I invested $50 (as a poor college student) with and did not get that back also. LOL. I remembered them carrying heavy milk carton crates stacked or lined with albums/disco records to the campus dormitory and its radio station (WOUI ). Did you, as an experienced DJ, light the spinning record ablaze while the Disco Inferno record was playing/? LOL just kidding. or maybe if the record was too hot and with that isopropyl alcohol on it , it lit itself on fire (special effects for the audience , but with safety of course -- fire extinguisher nearby just in case ). :) .
I may have to redo this as the stylus had dust on it while recording. The .wav file made sounds fine but isopropyl alcohol is poured on the vinyl to help (try to at least) make the sound better as the record is really old and dusty in the grooves.
Nunca había escuchado una canción tan larga, la única que escuché que sobrepasa los 11 minutos es la versión original de "I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that)" de Meatloaf que dura la friolera de 12:01
However, leaving the flaws in probably helps keep this video up as Universal Music (took over or swallowed up Mercury/Polygram/Casablanca) may not complain much as the sound here is not of that good or studio quality and is in no way competition to the big giant conglomerate. So I will leave this at it is.
water? agua? No , it is isopropyl "rubbing" alcohol in an attempt to "clean" the dust out of the grooves. I do this to make a "master" recording into .WAV or .AIFF file for purposes of adding to CD or CD quality recording. The thought is that putting the liquid on the groove while the needle is playing the record gives a kind of close to "friction-less" contact if that makes sense. It keeps (or should) from accumulating on the needle since the record is so old and was not in good condition --I got it from Mexico and this was 1980... it sounds as good as it is going to get given it is so old and probably was not from the master tapes anyway. The CD I made from the .WAV did not sound as good as other songs I have done similarly.
Don Lass I did, wipe the grooves clean with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and first I made the master copy onto .wav to put on CD. That went well but the record is too old and overplayed from the past so parts are worn. This youtube video I did shortly after after some trials and errors and just went along and maybe some dust accumulated in the grooves as it was playing thus why I continued to pour alcohol on the spinning record. So it is what it is, this youtube video audio sound got be a bit better, but it is youtube so who cares. As long as I have the "master" recording on .WAV and it is as best as it get given the worn condition of the 12"
rd649 well, too bad it did not work this time to lessen the "scratches" or distortion caused by the dust in the grooves. or maybe the record is so worn, old ... but when I played the first time to make the "master" recording to .WAV file to burn to CD, that one sounded okay. But for some reason I did not soak the record enough while running the webcam for this. The thing was over 12 minutes long and I did not feel like doing a second take. What you see is what you get. flaws and all. Thanks. I believe pouring the isopropyl alcohol or keeping the vinyl saturated while playing makes the sound better and masks the dust on the record in the grooves, but this is my theory. Maybe I should just do a thorough cleaning , just that once liquid is on the record, it could dry up in the grooves thus you have to keep with same process when playing thereafter ... who knows?

It's definitely not the master recording... but the .WAV file sounds great and can go onto CD. :)
