@@ryrystewy1 Any time! How could I reach out to you about leftover parts from original ski?! If you have anything left…. I started an X2 build but…. The lack of “driveshaft” put me at a stand still.. Hard to get a hold of one here in Canada.
@Stefan Mailey a local friend already dibs'd the driveshaft. But i may have some other parts i can send ya. Not sure what ahipping would cost but ill just give ya it if ive got it
@@ryrystewy1 Well, I didn't want to flood your comment section with posts. lol. Im sorry! I need a fuel tank, motor mounts and an exhaust (650). Those are fairly big items though. So Id need to figure out shipping. I can buy new mounts..but If you still had tank/exhaust... They would probably fit in the shipping box. Do you have any of those items? I stated a youtube build but put it on hold until i could get those few things. Cheers!
@@StefanMailey i dont have an exhaust, but i do have the gas tank, motor mounts, a good condition seat cover, the plastic dash cover, and pretty much everything else i yanked out in the video. im not sure how we can get in direct contact without putting my contact info on a youtube comment lol
the exact engine i did. 701 61x/62t with a bpipe. Or get a 750 and put a nice pipe on it. but youll want to cut the hull shorter on the back. and put some foot straps on them.
If I did this conversion with my X2... Wondering if Id have to pump swap it? I have an empty X2hull and a 701 61x motor. Could I get away with running the stock pump with a proper impeller.. Thoughts?
You can definitely do the swap without doing the pump. You wont need the plates/adapters for the yamaha driveshaft since youll be lining up to the stock driveshaft. It will be 100000% easier of a project and hook right up to the rhass conversion brackets for the engine. I can however tell you this. my x2 performs AMAZING and everyone that gets on it says its the best X2 theyve ever been on. so im not sure how a smaller pump would do. Not many people in the world have done the pump swap like in this video. It was a very complex project. its a commitment but worth the outcome. Also, definetly use the stock gas tank. that would have also been a time saver
@@stewartsskirestorationhub I really appreciate the response. Thank you for taking the time to explain your thoughts. I read your post on H2O as well. Very well explained and written. Ill keep you informed. lol. Cheers! Thanks again, Stewart.
@@stewartsskirestorationhub Just to add quick. I don't have an X2 fuel tank or an X2 driveshaft. Ill have to source that. The Yamaha Vxr Pro has a 30-1/2 inch driveshaft.... I believe the X2 shaft is 30inches. So theres that.. I guess I'm going to need to strip the VXR and see what components will work. Ill go the most cost effective route. Both will cost a bit.. We shall see. lol. Cheers
youll need a longer midshaft or custom fab your own ticker plate to create that same thickness/distance. I just did the gp800 spacer because it was like 30$ on ebay. and it makes it line up perfectly. Seems to be the trick everyones going with.
i believe the whole point of the Rhass products engine mount brackets is that it places the 701 engine in the perfect position to where it couples up to the stock X2 driveshaft. You can call Robin at Rhass Products just to be sure thats all you need to do. But because my project involved swapping out the pump with a yamaha, i had to use the GP800 plate as well as a Rhass conversion plate as well as the SJ midshaft in order to get it to pair with the 701 engine.

@@tythede8753 well, to be honest, you can get good results with rattlecans. infact, like 90% as good. The problem though is that rattle can paint scratches and fades in like one summer. ive done two skiis with rattlecans and two skiis with high quality paint. and i LOVED the rattlecan for exactly one summer, then not so much.
Just to give you a heads up when you put fiberglass that thick and just certain spots you create hard spots with the fiberglass because fiberglass does flex and when you create hard spots you make the ski brittle in that area so in fact you're creating a new problem. I do lots of fiberglass work and I've seen problems like that arise when people do that type of fiberglassing
Awesome work! I like how detailed on explaining everything!
Thank you!
Hands down the most reliable x2 ever made! It's all yamaha!!🤣🤣 danm good looking ski man! Hats off to you
My thoughts exactly. That was the plan! Cant stand those Kawasaki engines / carbs / starters.

Absolute ripper. Great job! Thanks for the video. Cleanest X2 build on youtube to date. Can't wait to see it go for first voyage. Cheers.

Not with rattle cansz but yeah with nice paint

I have only ever used 701 61x/62t. Ive heard they are build more for initial thrust compaired to a 760. I could be wrong
