The Atlantis crew is said to number around 200, and all but about eight of them (plus some Atlanteans) die. Still though, Mulan killed much higher amounts of people by herself with the avalanche, not to mention how many people die at Shan Yu’s hands. He goes from a smarmy, annoying spoiled brat who brags that he's going to be king one day and do whatever he wants to an exile who shirks his responsibilities as Mufasa's heir. And he completely lacks agency: *EVERY SINGLE THING SIMBA DOES IN THE ENTIRE MOVIE, he only does because some other character either pressures/manipulates him into doing it.* Going to the elephant graveyard? *Scar* tricks him into doing that. Going to the gorge where he got caught in the wildebeest stampede? *Scar* took him there. Going into exile? *Scar* told him to do that. Going back to Pride Rock to reclaim the throne? He had to be cajoled and guilt-tripped into it by *not one, not two, but THREE other characters--first Nala, then Rafiki, then Mufasa's ghost.* And he doesn't even really defeat Scar in the end; *Scar basically defeats himself* by throwing the hyenas under the bus--"They put me up to it! They're the enemy!"--within their earshot, causing them to turn against Scar and attack and kill him after Simba flips him off of Pride Rock. In short, Simba sucks.
I'd rank them. 10) Hunchback of Notre Dame 9) Hercules 8) Tarzan 7) Beauty and the Beast 6) Pocahontas 5) Aladdin 4) Rescuers Down Under 3) Mulan 2) The Lion King 1) The Little Mermaid

The Rescuers Down Under actually is VERY DIFFERENT from the previous film because aside of the similarities in plot and the differences which are more relevant as a meh villain or better looking setting scenarios, the main characters of the title happen to be more as main-side characters of their own movie as while the boy, the poacher and the eagle plot has a larger central role on movie than on about Penny, Madame Medusa and the Diamond on the first film, as both Bernard & Bianca have a slightly larger central role than on the second movie. Secondary helping characters have also a bigger role for the movie, as Jake takes the role of Ellie Mae but sets apart working alone on himself and has a lot of time on his own, whereas she though being the main plot-helper on the bayou got surrounded by her husband and their neighboor friends and kinda gets lost on her involvement as the leader of the group there and at side of acomplishing her dream of hitting Medusa´s head with her banger-bread-crumb-roller, she doesn´t go into more. On the other side, Wilbur the albatross is much funnier than his stern brother, Orville, and even has a larger role on the movie getting highly involved on the rescue mission too - and helping on Marahute´s eggs - which is also an improvement as the other bird only worked as transportation role but not more on the rescue mission. (Apparently Orville knew about the missions but never helped into closer and larger involvement on Bianca & Bernard s rescue duties, but Wilbur did rightfully after getting convinced by them to travel in full wintertime, which his brother never had issues about it.) The movie is overall better about the setting, improvements on secondary character´s allies but fails on the villain and about which the central main characters actually are: Bernard & Bianca are the main ones on the first one with Penny and Medusa coming into second tier, however this is inverted on the second film as Cody and McLeach are on larger role than the couple of rescuers. The music is amazing too on its improvement.
14:25-14:41 Disney also got into a lot of trouble with Robin Williams over the commercialization of Genie without his consent. That is why, in Return of Jafaar and Aladdin: The Animated Series, Dan Castellenata did the voice of Genie and not Robin Williams. And, yes, people noticed. Fortunately, Williams reprised his voice role as Genie in 1996 with Aladdin and the King of Thieves, followed by the "Great Minds Think for Themselves" shorts and a Disney Interactive Math software program using the Aladdin IP.

Almost all of Disney's Renaissance films are Marvellous and unique in each respect. Lion king and Beauty and the Beast are definetly top 2. Not to mention the rest of them. Disney Reniassance is MAGICAL and no Era despite how much technology has evolved can replaced it. Even all the other studios got motivated to do fine works of art like Anastasia and Prince of Egypt out of the glory of 90s Disney Renaissance.
Why always 'The Lion King'? Of course it was the biggest hit of all the renaissance movies, but overal l I do not think it has te best story or the best music.
Here’s my list! 1. The Lion King (a modern classic, a fan-favorite, and the best movie of the Disney Renaissance and also my favorite of the era with gorgeous animation with stunning sun-drenched colors, great characters with lovability and human spirit, and a wild African-esque soundtrack with stunning original songs by Elton John and Tim Rice and an impressive score by Hans Zimmer with Lebo M and Mark Mancina) 2. Tarzan (an accurate animated representation of the books they’re based on with stunning animation with some deep-canvas CGI in the backgrounds, recognizable characters, and a rockin’ African-esque Phil Collins soundtrack with original songs by Phil Collins) 3. Hercules (while not a box-office hit like other movies of the era, it’s still a pretty good cult-classic that’s a fusion of Ancient Greek Mythology and Vegas with a pretty awesome soundtrack with awesome Alan Menken songs and score) 4. Beauty and the Beast (another modern classic) 5. Aladdin (another beloved movie of the era with some humor and and a slight controversy surrounding its portrayal of middle-eastern cultures) 6. The Little Mermaid (a great movie that started the Disney Renaissance) 7. Mulan (another movie which also had some controversy) 8. Pocahontas (an inaccurate representation of an American historical figure’s life that caused controversy) 9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (a dark animated anomaly of an animated movie from the Renaissance that should’ve gotten a PG-13 rating for its dark themes despite standing out in a bad way) 10. The Rescuers Down Under (I don’t know what to say about that movie, but it’s another anomaly from the Renaissance that stood out in a bad way without any catchy songs)
The Renaissance was the age that I grew up watching (and gotten me into Disney as a whole). I saw most of the movies on VHS, with the exception of The Little Mermaid and Rescuers Down Under.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame was probably the biggest surprise for me! I thought it was gonna suck, but no! I actually really liked it! The story is compelling, Quasimodo is such a loveable protagonist, Frollo is such a stellar villain, Esmeralda is such a beautiful and wise voice of reason, etc! The only gripes I have with the movie are that the adult humour themes and humour are a bit too uncomfortable for me. And the gargoyles… aren’t that great. 😬😕 I mean, they’re not nearly as funny as the Hyenas in The Lion King, but to be fair, they’re not nearly as obnoxious as the Rock Trolls in Frozen. I mean, Victor and Laverne aren’t obnoxious, but Hugo kinda gets on my nerves. And their song, A Guy like You is kinda corny and annoying, too! But again, not nearly as bad as the Rock Trolls’ abomination, Fixer Upper! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Regardless, despite its flaws, Hunchback is great! One more thing… “SANCTUARY!” 😡😂😂😂

Wicked Binge: Mulan might have the highest body count of all Disney movies
film theory: Hold my calculator
I think Atlantis beats it, considering it has multiple scenes of mass death
Film Theory actually did this.
The winner was Hercules AND Atlantis together for sharing the same catastrophic event.
@@VNightmoon actually Dinosaur won that contest.
@@VNightmoon did all those horses die! The ones that the freezing titan freezes for no reason?
The Atlantis crew is said to number around 200, and all but about eight of them (plus some Atlanteans) die. Still though, Mulan killed much higher amounts of people by herself with the avalanche, not to mention how many people die at Shan Yu’s hands. That being said, if the asteroid from Dinosaur did in fact create an extinction-level event, then yeah, that’s the winner.
Say, did you forget to mention that Beauty and the Beast was the first animated feature to receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture?
Also technically Dinosaur has the largest body count since it has an extinction level event.

Also, McLeach is so much better than Medusa. They both wanted money, sure, but Medusa's personality was just bland, McLeach however and a very fun and entertaining villain you love to hate, instead of just hating him like we do Medusa
love these films although my fave is the little mermaid. I find these films entertaining for the story, characters and songs. Hellfire is definitely one of my favourite villan songs. I also enjoyed the live action counter parts although I didn't like the 2019 Lion Kings version of Be Prepared. Great video and keep up the good work
I agree that the 2019 Be Prepared's not quite as good as the original, but that film's NOT a live-action counterpart. It's CGI. It irks me when people keep forgetting that.

The messed up part? "Pocahontas" had complex characters, mature themes, amazing animation, and incredible songs. Had it been an epic fantasy piece, it'd be one of Disney's best.
"Phil Collins Soundtrack is fantastic!" Thank you! And honestly I like the Rescuers Down Under More than Pocahontas, but that's just me!
Tarzan I great it should’ve been a little higher. Also, I think Tarzan is the only film out of this bunch to have musicals as montages.. I think.

I like Aladdin more as my Top Best Movie in the Disney Renaissance Period
Same! Jafar is the best villain!
The Lion King is the greatest animated movie Disney has ever made and is my favorite Disney pick that peaked into the Disney Renaissance. 🦁👑🌅
"Simba is a really interesting protagonist"?!? No the hell he's not!!!

SAVE THE DOLPHINS! SAVE THE DOLPHINS! YES, PLEASE SAVE THE DOLPHINS!
It's disgusting how many of these have been defiled by live-action remakes, or have one in the works.
(Apparently Orville knew about the missions but never helped into closer and larger involvement on Bianca & Bernard s rescue duties, but Wilbur did rightfully after getting convinced by them to travel in full wintertime, which his brother never had issues about it.)
The movie is overall better about the setting, improvements on secondary character´s allies but fails on the villain and about which the central main characters actually are: Bernard & Bianca are the main ones on the first one with Penny and Medusa coming into second tier, however this is inverted on the second film as Cody and McLeach are on larger role than the couple of rescuers.
Total Drama characters ranking (my opinion):
The worst: Dave

Bad: Makes the Neutrino Bomb and multiple others

My personal (and probably very controversial) list, from bottom to top:
Pocahontas->Beauty & Beast->Hunchback->Little Mermaid->Aladdin->Rescuers 2->Lion King->Tarzan->Hercules->Mulan
I really like it, even though i don't quite agree with it, it's refreshing to see some different opinions where The Lion King isn't at the top and Pocahontas isn't at the bottom. Sterotypes are infuriating.
So you've started ranking movies? Are you going to rank Disney's other eras?

Almost all of Disney's Renaissance films are Marvellous and unique in each respect. Lion king and Beauty and the Beast are definetly top 2. Not to mention the rest of them. Disney Reniassance is MAGICAL and no Era despite how much technology has evolved can replaced it. Even all the other studios got motivated to do fine works of art like Anastasia and Prince of Egypt out of the glory of 90s Disney Renaissance.

Here’s my list!
1. The Lion King (a modern classic, a fan-favorite, and the best movie of the Disney Renaissance and also my favorite of the era with gorgeous animation with stunning sun-drenched colors, great characters with lovability and human spirit, and a wild African-esque soundtrack with stunning original songs by Elton John and Tim Rice and an impressive score by Hans Zimmer with Lebo M and Mark Mancina)
2. Tarzan (an accurate animated representation of the books they’re based on with stunning animation with some deep-canvas CGI in the backgrounds, recognizable characters, and a rockin’ African-esque Phil Collins soundtrack with original songs by Phil Collins)
3. Hercules (while not a box-office hit like other movies of the era, it’s still a pretty good cult-classic that’s a fusion of Ancient Greek Mythology and Vegas with a pretty awesome soundtrack with awesome Alan Menken songs and score)
4. Beauty and the Beast (another modern classic)
5. Aladdin (another beloved movie of the era with some humor and and a slight controversy surrounding its portrayal of middle-eastern cultures)
6. The Little Mermaid (a great movie that started the Disney Renaissance)
7. Mulan (another movie which also had some controversy)
8. Pocahontas (an inaccurate representation of an American historical figure’s life that caused controversy)
9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (a dark animated anomaly of an animated movie from the Renaissance that should’ve gotten a PG-13 rating for its dark themes despite standing out in a bad way)
One more thing…
“SANCTUARY!” 😡😂😂😂
