I like the teammates stealing his corked bat from the MLB. They shouldn't have fessed up to it. Certainly much worse ppl, like murderers and rapists that have played in major sports leagues and their are plenty of them. Belle was scary, but not life threatening. Rae Carruth, Darren Sharper and Aaron Hernandez to name a few.
I met Albert Bell /Joey Bell both version several times when he played in Cleveland and he was a chill guy until people started running the yappers. Ppl would heckle him while he was trying to eat at a steakhouse trying to get a response. I'm not defending his actions but he was chill until provoked.
That’s cool that you got to meet him a few times. Yeah everything I’ve seen in regards to fan interactions with him has been pretty positive unless they tried to push his buttons for sure
What's funny is that when I was younger I thought he was Mark McGuire and Frank Thomas sized. I was shocked to learn he was a bit under 200 lbs. and hovering around 6 ft.
Imagine being one of those kids egging the house thinking it's just an older couple living there and then Albert freaking Belle bursts out the door and chases you.
I go with Pitchers like Josh Gibson or Randy Johnson as the scariest mlb players ever. Belle didn't get to throw 100 mph fastballs at the opposing team for multiple innings... thankfully
Belle was scary no doubt but he didn't throw fastballs at or near your head and he certainly didn't sharpen spikes and use those sharp spikes on the regular like people did once upon a time.
Bell should've won MVP that year.. The player with the best stats That's leading the league in mostly everything should get the MVP.. That's like saying ohtani is too nice so we're gonna give him the MVP Fans wouldn't accept it, in this ERA Fans control mostly everything, the MEDIA controls everything 10x worst now.. Albert bell with those stats would've won MVP in this era!!
Trying to remember the name of a ballplayer who became an umpire later on, who Ty Cobb picked a fight with. So this fella handed Cobb a bat and said “This makes it even” then proceeded to whup Cobb’s ass. Belle was fearsome, but I don’t recall that level of putting his money where someone else’s mouth went.
Albert Bell was the scariest major-league baseball player in history, as long as you don’t include all of the players that committed murders when they were on the road. A couple of them probably serial killers.
I loved albert belle and all the dominant teams back then, Eddie Murray never talked to the media either, I cant blame them, belle was an asshole but and he picked his fights, there was the time albert got mouthy with Charlie manual, Charlie was atleast 60 then but he was still a bad ass hillbilly, when belle talked shit to Charlie, Charlie said don't let that air get between us, belle backed down, just saying😮
guys like him are good for the sport as far as passion goes, but at the same time are the absolute biggest tools, its a weird catch. belle was undoubtedly DH for no reason and always had an excuse as to why. i like em dont get me wrong but he can give high intensity guys a bad name.
If he could have just settled down 50% of the time, he'd have won at least an MVP if not more than 1. I can't say that some of his victims didn't deserve it though. I certainly can't disagree with a college kid beating down a racist fan that wouldn't leave him alone or chasing down some ignorant trick or treat bastards that egged his house. They deserved what they got if they really did what Albert accused them of doing. On the other hand, why you goin nuts on a thermostat or yelling at reporters? I extremely disagree with what the reporter said about the year Mo Vaughn won MVP. He didn't vote for Belle cuz he didn't like him. What?! It's Most Valuable Player, not Most Valuable and Likeable Player so it's completely ridiculous he was screwed out of that MVP, just like they did to Bonds in '91, I believe. Terry Pendleton my ass.
@@WalkoffGrandslamI'm sure it happens, sometimes, and very likely could have here. If it were the case there would have been stands full of people to corroborate Alberts story, which wasn't the case. Albert already had a reputation and it wasn't hard to get him to blow up so there would be no need to go that far. People have a way of making up excuses for their bad behavior and Belle had a ton of bad behavior and always had an excuse.
@edwells4769 but you said it almost never true... but in the age of video and social media we find out omg... ppl yell racist stuff at professional sports players alot. Idk I have a feeling it's almost always true and not the other way around. Probably not in this case yes but in most I bet they are not making it up.
@WalkoffGrandslam I didn't say that its almost never true, I said I'm sure it happens, sometimes. People do use that as an excuse to validate their own bad decisions and bad behavior. You can pretty easily tell if it is more likely true or not based on the individual making the accusations, and with Albert it's a bit suspect.
Do we know if he was ever tested for steroids? Many of his antics sounds a lot like 'roid rage. Add steroids to an already aggressive personality and, boom, you have a problem...☺
Not a bad theory but MLB didn’t start their official PED testing policies until 2002. Belle was out of the league by then so we’ll never actually know. But he had outbursts like this as far back as early college and possibly some high school. So unlikely PEDs were the cause.
It’s so funny that a bunch of limp wristed shyster “journalists” that have never played a sport in their entire life get to decide who goes into the baseball Hall of Fame. It’s absolute bonkers.
Man I realize you're young but WE HAD CORDLESS PHONES a long long time ago. So it could've been a cordless phone. You know what those are, right? That technology didn't arrive with cell phones. It's been around for probably close to 5 decades by now.
Jabroni great show.bring back all of stuff me and my friends used to talk about .and Albert Bell was always brought up.just consistent problems with him some of it funny but damn he thought he was high and mighty! He has never been happy .cry baby.making all that money and acting like a spoiled lil brat.
What’s your favorite Albert Belle moment? Was there anyone scarier than he was?
I like the teammates stealing his corked bat from the MLB. They shouldn't have fessed up to it. Certainly much worse ppl, like murderers and rapists that have played in major sports leagues and their are plenty of them. Belle was scary, but not life threatening. Rae Carruth, Darren Sharper and Aaron Hernandez to name a few.
On field, his 50/50 in 95 helped Cleveland to the world series. Off the field, take your pick. Dude was straight crazy.
The 50/50 season is one of the greatest seasons of all time for sure
The corked bat story is so wild. I can’t believe it actually happened
@@JabroniBaseball And the corked bat actually puts you at a disadvantage. I don't know if they knew then or it was just the principal of cheating.

Albert “Don’t call me Joey” Belle! For 3-4yr run was the scariest offensive threat in the game
He really was the best in baseball in that time
Albert Belle is a certifiable scary dude who should be In the HOF.
No lies detected here
If there had been a baseball equivalent to Malice at The Palace, we all know Belle would’ve started it lol
I was thinking that the whole time editing this video lmao
@@JabroniBaseball 😂 😂
Dude had bipolar in a time when the stigma on mental health was too strong to do anything about getting help. Can’t blame the man for everything
What's funny is that when I was younger I thought he was Mark McGuire and Frank Thomas sized. I was shocked to learn he was a bit under 200 lbs. and hovering around 6 ft.
I thought the same exact thing haha. Definitely thought he was a way bigger dude when I was younger
McGwire was only 6-5 and 215 avg. Not that much bigger. Belle was 6'1 and 190 avg.
Now Frank Thomas was like 6'5 and 240 avg
@@J.C... McGwire was 215 to start, but I remember reading the newspapers he got up to 270. He definitely looked a lot bigger than 215 at his height
Dude deserves the Hall. The Hall, however, does not deserve him.
He needs to get in there already
@@JabroniBaseball absolutely. PS you do great work, man. You're appreciated.
Thanks! It’s a lot of fun making these videos so it’s always nice to hear people enjoy them!
The Dennis Rodman of baseball! As I liked to call him back in the day!
That’s a perfect comparison 😂
Rodman not toxic, though
@@jeremyc2445 I think that head butted ref and that kicked cameraman might have something to say about that!
I'm on Belle's side in the base line incident where he trucked Vina.
Great video, keep up the good work
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Imagine being one of those kids egging the house thinking it's just an older couple living there and then Albert freaking Belle bursts out the door and chases you.
Lmaoooo that’s probably worst case scenario for a baseball fan in the 90s
Belle is insane for sure, but I don’t think anyone will ever be as scary as Milton Bradley
Might have to make a video on him 🤔
I go with Pitchers like Josh Gibson or Randy Johnson as the scariest mlb players ever. Belle didn't get to throw 100 mph fastballs at the opposing team for multiple innings... thankfully
That’s true, but he sure did throw baseballs at fans and photographers lol
Albert Belle is one of those guys we like to call "Albert Belle" type players
😂😂😂
Great video. Maybe you know it , maybe you don’t. Albert has an interview with Chris rose. You should probably check it out
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Funny enough I watched it while I was editing this video. Really good interview!
Still the only guy to hit 50 2Bs and 50Hrs.
May never be broken especially with how many fewer doubles are being hit in current day baseball
Baseball beat writers are some of the softest people ever. Actual babies when they don’t get their way
They need to be more objective on things for sure
@@JabroniBaseballthe people want pete rose in the Hall
He was banned for life by the league. The journos can't get him in even if they want to
Oh yeah, big time!
The most annoying baseball player in history.

Yeah you aren’t wrong. Instead he threw fastballs at fans and photographers lol
Bob Gibson says "hi"

The "character' thing is something writers made up in the mid 2000s.
Belle didn't have HOF numbers bc his career ended too early.

100% he should have won the MVP that year. It’s too much of a slippery slope taking in anything besides quantifiable data for awards.
Joey Belle was a big meanie...I'll give you that.
But Andre "the hawk" Dawson...Dave "the cobra" Parker...even Rob Dibble scare me more than Albert.
They honestly deserve a collab video on how wild they were

Draymond Green of baseball
Damn. You right
So this video is about Ty Cobb?
Close 😂
I really want to hang out with Joey.
Just don’t throw eggs at his house
He should should definitely belong in the hall of fame, baseball has other bad actors in the hall, why not Albert.
100% he needs to be in the hall
Albert Bell was the scariest major-league baseball player in history, as long as you don’t include all of the players that committed murders when they were on the road. A couple of them probably serial killers.
Almost every player that’s featured in these posts you see the same phrase “should be in HOF”. Ok, I”ll play along. Mario Mendoza should be in HOF!
How 'bout those Cleveland INDIANS!
Ricky Vaughns favorite
Albert was a bad man. He got robbed at least twice in MVP voting.
