    Although I'm returning to the Philippines (tomorrow actually) to look at Dumaguete as a retirement location, I would still consider other countries as time goes on. Why not travel around and look. You only live once.

    Good interview Mark. I had a friend who lived in Singapore and I visited him. I always remember what he called it "militant Disneyland". Singapore is nice but its a little like being in a science fiction movie. Everything is very orderly maybe a little too orderly. I like my cities a little more messy.

      I don’t; I like order.

    • @ariefraiser140
      @ariefraiser140 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Wolff13 there's a lot of trade offs to get to the type of orderly Stan is talking about. On a much much smaller scale think of the order that HOA brings to a neighborhood. There's less people parking on their front lawns, or deciding they're going to paint their home neon green, or decide they don't want to do any yard work. But then that HOA can become overbearing. Such as the HOA that won't allow passenger pick-up trucks to be parked in your drive way. Or the HOA that tells you you need to paint your entire exterior of your house because the paint doesn't look bright enough which is subjective.

      How on earth is that sufficient? Good for this family.
      I’m alone, my house is paid for and furnished (my expenses was at least between $1,600-$1,800/month).
      To maintain a lifestyle similar to the West and residing in the Philippines can be definitively costly. Foods and ingredients are high, electricity and petrol are high too.
      If you want a decent treatment with facilities that are US accredited (Chong Hua Hospital, Makati Med, St. Luke, etc) are expensive.
