  • In our Hetzer build part 2 we complete the painting and weathering stages of our build. The video takes viewers step-by-step through the paint layering and masking process used to create the dazzling ambush camouflage that is the hallmark of this unique vehicle. Many tools, materials and techniques are illustrated and explained which will help viewers to improve their own modelling skills. So get your airbrushes and oil paints ready as we take this project to an exciting conclusion!

      Hey Anthony. So sorry I didn't see your amazing comment until now. That's so nice of you to say and although sometimes the videos are a lot of work, comments like yours really lift one's spirits. All the best to you my friend and good luck with your own projects!

      Hi Eugene, thank-you for the awesome comment! I wanted to tackle that paint scheme for some time and unfortunately the instructions were confusing as hell. Hopefully the way it's laid out in the video will help people avoid the drama I had the pleasure of enduring. Still, the Hetzer, for all the grief it wrought on those who manned it, it makes for a very cool display model. Best of luck with own builds!

    I just want to say how incredibly helpful your 2 videos were, especially getting my head around the paint masks. I used these and was delighted with the outcome in no small measure thanks to your guidance. Once again many thanks, your style and presentation is absolutely bang on. God bless you and yours , wishing you well and looking forward to the next video

      Thank you Ian. One of the more challenging paint schemes but very satisfying once done. Very glad you enjoyed the video and there are more in the pipeline; maybe something in a monochromatic scheme for a break! Stay well friend.

    Just great. Very proffesional and informative. I was bit sceptical about the yellow colour at the beginning, but after weathering everything turned out so cool!

      Thanks Hori. Paint choice is an odd thing and you can't really judge it until its on the model. Also when we combine colours they influence each other. There are no hard and fast rules for WW2 military colours so don't be afraid to experiment. Thank you for watching and for the nice comment! Stay well.

    75mm?(2:38) that would take out a Sherman, small but deadly.

      Hard to believe they packed so much destruction into such a small vehicle. Other than the Jagdpanther I think the Hetzer was probably one of the best tank killers of the war. Oddly the crews hated the vehicle because it was very cramped and the loader was positioned on the wrong side of the gun which made loading very difficult. But for us modelers it's just too cool not to build. Thanks for the note Richard and good luck with your own builds!

    Outstanding camo work. Great toe tapping background music 👍Noticed your bottom feed airbrush , you using a single action for basic application...??

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a dual action Badger 150 Pro. Had it for probably 20 years and considering how it has been abused over the years it still sprays amazingly well. It's out lasted the compressor - may be a loose gasket in the piston me thinks. She has to work over time to build up the pressure and it expels after only a short time of spraying. After the M5 is done I'm going to tear it down and have a look. Thanks again Mike, I'm enjoying our exchange.

      @@stevieRay3211 I have the same brush😀 newer version though, it has the bottom feed bottle and also a side feed canted paint cup for smaller application. It is a true workhorse. I just got a Masters airbrush from Amazon for 26 USD. Three needles sizes. Double action. It’s a Chinese knockoff. Check out the reviews on TH-cam.

      @@frankmike9931 I'm a bit of a minimalist and until my old Badger (or me) dies I'm stickin' with it. I am curious how the Masters holds up over time. Seems that whenever I curse at the Badger and threaten to replace it, it starts to behave again. Stay well FM.

    Mate these "shapes" were factory painted (airbrush) useing a stencil with multipe shapes on them. The person rotated the stencil. There are pics of Hetzers around showing them at BMM factory with a repating pattern of these shapes visible ; ) Unfortunatly they are "laser sharpe edges". Really enjoyed the video and your result, just wanted to correct the information : ) +1sub looking forward to the next one!

      Never easy to get one's ego bruised but I appreciate the correction. I took my information from an article I read some years ago and accounting for wartime conditions the field painting seemed plausible. Still I love the internet since I learn something new everyday. I do appreciate your input and thank you so much for the sub and for watching!
