We were just in Malibu and it was raining when we were looking to do a trail. You've inspired me to go back and definitely do this one. Love how at the end you just gave up on keeping your shoes dry - sometimes that's when the fun starts.
Thank you Josh for this great trip. Your trips are so great and with your smile they are even better. Hope to watch more of our trips. Hope your father is well too. 🥰
Great hike! You were so close to the grotto though! You were standing on the massive boulders that were hiding the cave. There was a tiny little alcove that you can slip into which was just a few feet from where you turned back.
You picked a great day to do the hike. Glad that you finally got to see the waterfalls and shared them with us. Hope that you make it all the way to the Grotto some day and show us what it looks like.
I live in Thousand Oaks, and I've never done this trail 😮 I will be going hopefully in the next week. I've done Sandstone a couple times though and love that hike too. Thanks Josh!
My birthday is next Friday, and I’m thinking this would be a great birthday hike to see some waterfalls. And then you say “you probably won’t see any waterfalls if you come” 🤣 oh well, it still looks like a nice hike to do with my good boy. Great video, Josh! of course! 🙌🏽
I push myself at the grotto today, there’s just no way down that safe! Have to wait till the water stops. Running a little bit had a little panic attack trying to get back up. Lol!
The waterfall you walk over is usually there in the wet season. Usually it's an easy shallow crossing. The prominent waterfall one from the pair is sometimes present in rainy winters, but I've never seen the 2nd one. There's even a third cascading falls right now to the right of those two that is obscured by trees. You really have to go with someone who knows the route to get to the Grotto right now due to all the water.
You are so lucky to have seen this! I saw waterfalls coming off the rocks in Topanga Canyon in the late 70's but never this. Have you hiked Malibu Creek State Park? I think it's one of the prettiest places in the world. Thanks so much for your videos! ♥
I am Jelly, looks like a beautiful fun hike. I wish i could still get out here and do the fun stuff. But this stroke i am recovering from has me messed up.
Unfortunately waterfalls may be signs of fire burning off topsoil and canopy foliage, hampering the ability of the soil to absorb water and recharge groundwater which allows the water to be released over a longer period which is more conducive to regrowth of the original foliage. Also, the rushing water over the denuded landscape is carrying away topsoil, leaving an area less conducive to establishing new plant growth.

Epic Malibu !
We had some fun in the area after these last 2 years of rain!
Thanks for capturing it right after the rain 🙌
That was so epic. There hasn’t been water like that up there for I’m gonna say 10-20 years. That’s so cool. Thanks for posting this

Everything is so green there! Also, I can’t believe I didn’t do this trail since I was there to do Sandstone. Crazy that you couldn’t get there.

I’ve never heard of those waterfalls. It’s such a beautiful area. I’ve been craving Rubios and Del Taco lately
Ditch those GMO infested fake mex joints and choose authentic Mexican food, Oxnard is a hot spot for legit taco trucks that serve tacos Al-Pastor

yep been rainy pretty hard last few weeks for us socal people at least, even bought the kids some rain boots.
Haha that’s awesome! We got some from the thrift store and the kids have been loving them when it rains
