Mac, I moved to England from America in the 90s, and lived in London for the next 24 years. And having watched so many of your videos I have to say I think you’ve easily managed to see and experience more in the UK than I did in all my time there. Of course your particular interests in agriculture, farming, cars and aeroplanes gives you a special intro into those niche areas, but still. I love exploring different countries, cities and cultures, but watching your enthusiasm, and open mindedness to get out there and really learn about the country you’ve moved to without judgment puts me in the shade! It really is remarkable. I do have to say though watching Blair watch you enthusiastically extolling all the pleasures on offer at the Kent County Fair at one point did make me laugh a bit, you literally left her speechless 😄 All the best to you and your family in the adventures to come.
Mac, you truly have a gift for communication...just think those bi-planes were in service in the 1930's and by 1969 a man stood on the moon!!!!! Loving your vlogs, keep up the great work, thank you...
Mac I'm so jealous you certainly are globetrotting anywhere and everywhere and good for you and your children they'll never forget some of these memories your giving them ..Bravo
First time I ever flew, (more years ago than I like to remember,) was in a DeHaviland Tiger Moth, of which there are a number around you there. Flying in an open cockpit biplane is like nothing else, "The wind in the wires"
G-ANZT is a Thruxton Jackaroo, the flying school at Thruxton (where the race circuit is now) converted some Tiger Moths in to four seaters with a canopy after the war. My dad was a member of a syndicate that ran one as a small flying club from the mid 70s until the late 80's. Its a major part of the reasons why I became an engineer. I went flying with dad countless times. I loved it, going with dad to this kind of event, never wanted to be a pilot, I liked taking them apart and putting it all back! The sound of a Gypsy Major still gets my heart racing (but not as much as a Merlin!) Starting is called "Swinging The Prop", you turn it a few times with the magnetos off to draw the fuel in, flick the switches and it starts! So in the clip they were following normal procedures, no starting trouble at all. I think that it shows in this video is that they are really nice people Another great video, Mac. Thanks
Another great video from Mac and family! Great music choice, videography and narration top notch stuff! You always wish we are having a great day well we are after this content
Used to go to air shows as a kid! There are a couple of motor museums in the midlands, the British motor museum, Gaydon not far from Coventry....Coventry transport museum ... the national motorcycle museum, Solihul....Aldridge motor museum, wallsall... Silverstone active meseum. Futher away but a great museum, Beaulieu motor museum that has a large collection.
Thank you for this interesting video, which I very much enjoyed, as indeed I do all of your content. I would recommend a visit to the Shuttleworth collection which is a museum full of vintage cars and planes with some really fine examples. They hold several events throughout the summer. It is in Bedfordshire so not far from you.
There used to be a big de Havilland show at Woburn Abbey every year until it stopped in I think 2015. Loads of them all types, even fly-bys and visits from other de Havilland aircraft.
As you appreciate the restoration work that's been done on these aeroplanes, I think you might like to visit the National Tramway Museum at Critch, Derbyshire, to see the exquisite restoration work that has been done on some old trams [streetcars] there. You can also ride on them. A great day out for you and the children. Disclaimer:- I'm not associated with the museum, just an appreciative visitor.
One of those beautiful gypsy moths makes its home at a private airstrip about a mile from my house. I walk my dogs on the airstrip in fact. (I won't spell out the registration for security reasons). As a pilot myself any aviation content of course catches my eye.
DeHavilland had a successful series of planes from the 1920s into the 1970s, before the name vanished. The DeHavilland DH.88 Comet racer is an unparalleled beauty, the Dragon, the Rapide / Dominie, and the later Dragonfly family of fast 'executive' aircraft. The DH.98 Mosquito will be recognised, and the Vampire, Venom, Sea Vixen and the DH.108 Comet the first jet airliner. Now look up the actress Olivia DeHavilland. ;-)
Beautiful video and cool airshow. I always wondered what those little turbines were for ! I was bless to have a fly of the grace spitfire here in the UK a couple weeks for the first time. I have really grown found of warbird aircraft. Hope to maybe see you at one of the fly inns events over the summer Thank you for posting
Hey Mac if you like old aircraft you may like a trip out to the Shuttleworth Collection, it's in Bedfordshire. I think they have some of the oldest flying examples going.
Hi, enjoyed the video, you didn't mention the location though? I have flown in a Tiger Moth at Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire. I also flew in a de Havilland Dragon Rapide at the same airfield, both were fantastic experiences!
Love dehaviland fun fact it’s local to me and my county’s Heritage and the dehaviland museum is near me and my local gym is the old factory we’re they built the comet
When I look at these vintage biplanes I think of the pilot wearing a leather helmet googles and a white scarf flapping in the wind and if it was British pilot he would have a handle bar mustache.😂😂
I thought you were Dewey Davenport for a min coz you look a bit like him and he has a channel with loads of biplanes. I was thinking why would Dewey ask about that generator when he must already know. Doh 😖:)

Mac , you and the family are a great and welcome addition to GB , keep up the good work and good luck with everything you endeavor to do
Thanks John!

What I liked was that you have to actively fly a Tiger Moth all the time - there's no such thing as trim tabs on a moth!
Awesome video so craftily done!
Another great vlog Mac.
Beautiful!

🙂
The ‘De Havilland’ Comet, made the world’s first jet airliner that made its maiden test-flight in July 27, 1949.
I debated with myself whether to watch this as I'm not into machines and tech, but I'm glad I did. Those were the days when flying was elegant!
Love interesting and informative 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you and your crew again😍
Some really beautiful aircraft there, takes me back over 50 years to the thrill of when I first flew in one of that type.
You're making friends, I remember your video from last year. Who knows, next year someone might take you up.
Love to see these vintage aircraft.
Gypsy Moth where used in WW2 basic training aircraft for new recruits in the RAF.

Simon, thank you for the suggestion.
Great weather, great engineering, great passion and yet another banger of a video Mac
Thanks!
The famous actress Olivia de Havilland was a member of the family.
There used to be a big de Havilland show at Woburn Abbey every year until it stopped in I think 2015. Loads of them all types, even fly-bys and visits from other de Havilland aircraft.
Yes, I flew in a few times with dad as part of the Moth Club. We met the Marchioness! They were really nice

Henry, thanks for the suggestion
I’m certain you would enjoy a visit to the imperial war museum at Duxford Cambridgeshire the whole family would enjoy.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I always learn something new😊
Imagine flying in one of those. Just an amazing feeling.

The location... 🤫🤫🤫
@@MacandBlair No problem, I'll just Google it. Oh, and by the way you just lost a subscriber.
I recommend the speaker Simone Loughnane to this house
Did you not blag a flight and a couple of circuits around the airfield?
Not this time... lol.
How did youse like the hot weather this week?
It was toasty... glad it cooled off.
@@MacandBlair Yeah me too. I like hot weather but that was a little too much. 🥵
Try and find the comedy
film "Those magnificent men and their flying machines". They flew replicas of very early planes.
"Maybe a little room there for a couple of people in the back," says he hopefully.
Love dehaviland fun fact it’s local to me and my county’s Heritage and the dehaviland museum is near me and my local gym is the old factory we’re they built the comet
A shame that a flight for the kids was'nt on offer....looked a lovely sunny day for a flight with good visibility.
Insurance purposes..
When I look at these vintage biplanes I think of the pilot wearing a leather helmet googles and a white scarf flapping in the wind and if it was British pilot he would have a handle bar mustache.😂😂
The trick is to buy one with a full tank, then sell the fuel and buy another plane 🙃
I thought you were Dewey Davenport for a min coz you look a bit like him and he has a channel with loads of biplanes. I was thinking why would Dewey ask about that generator when he must already know. Doh 😖:)
They are lovely to fly, but b----y noisy! You really need earplugs or ANR (active noise reduction) headphones.
