as a whisky lover, can some plz tell me why people think single malts are better than blends. i know how blends and single malt are different in the making, but to me they taste the same, granted i havent really gotten the nose and the ability to smell/taste different notes yet but love to know what to look out for. are singel malt more tasty over all and blended less. also i no price has a lot to do with it
When people say "blends," they mean the cheap, more accessible ones. The "problem" with blends for most people is that cheap blends usually use a lot of grains instead of malt, so the grains give an unpleasant taste or an unpleasant note to the whisky. You can see the video for Chivas Regal Royal Salute, Horst mentions that it's one of his favourite blends, and to be honest, his reactions show how much he loves it. But it's an expensive bottle, so it might be that there's not a lot of quality blends that are more accessible. For me, I can enjoy a cheaper blended whisky like Teacher's or Jameson, but then again, there are people that can't stand it, the same way I can't stand the Red or Black Label.

you said 300 (€/$/£) but here in Czech its approx 700. I was always wonderingy because you once reviewed GoldCock 20yo, and you said some price, and when i checked it actually costed much less here in Czech (GoldCock is czech whisky). So its really double the prize for the whiskies just for export?
Well the domestic one can be a bit cheaper because of the transport costs, but think it's also taxation or that the distributors in your home country are bringing up the prices

Both whiskies are exceptional. Arran 25 years is probably more of a drinking whisky than the Single Cask Edition, which is more of a collectors' item.
