      theTravellers Hello. Thx you for the response. I finished watching the video ''Antwerpe 3 minutes'' just now. Both of them are so amazing. It's difficult to decide. Therefore I'd follow your reccomendation if I could catch the opportunity to visit Belgium. I've been to Bergium once. Bergium is one of my favorite countory. That's why I wanna visit several cities there. I wish I can get the vacance in next summer.

    Did flemish understand german, vv? Or danish, norwegian, swedish!

    • @theTravellers
      @theTravellers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we don't think so. Some people are learning German in school ;-)

    • @lennert1nevejans
      @lennert1nevejans 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flemish people can understand some german, if it is spoken slowly. But alot of the vocabulary is totally different. It's very similar because they are both West Germanic languages. Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are north eastern germanic and are incomprehensible to Belgians :)

    Hi there lovely travellers, we've been really enjoying watching this, especially as we film 4k natural sight and sound walks in soulful cities, and have just filmed Ghent too, so it's lovely to see another eye view and your insights, thank you for taking the time to add this lovely video as always (making Ghent look so very beautiful). Perhaps we could subscribe to each other and share more?

      inmymind 3000 Well The southern Netherlands (which is now Belgium) form a sort of base for which is now the Netherlands.
      They had the first relatively independent "burger" culture , besides city-states in Italy.
      After the separation into the Spanish Netherlands and the Dutch Republic
      (first republic in Europe) : The Netherlands or Holland if you want,
      only the language remained common.
      The architecture in A'dam had it's strong influence from Flemish architecture , also to be found in the Netherlands (Holland) of the XV th and early XVI th century.
      In the beginning of the Dutch republic Amsterdam took over from Antwerp as the powerpoint of North-western Europe.
      And Holland (with a lot of flemish protestant refugees) florished further to become the most powerful state
      in Europe during the golden age of the XVIIth century ....

      Ha yes ofcourse!
      (Maar de nederlanden bestond in de middle-eeuwen weldegelijk óók uit wat nu Wallonië heet. Wallonië heeft vóór dat
      Bourgondië de Nederlanden overheerste ook (middel) nederlands gesproken en behoorde cultureel gesproken bij de provinciën, tot en met de uithoek van noordwest Frankrijk.
      (b.v. 'Doornik' als toponiem is later pas verfranst tot Tournai.
      'Henegouwen' tot Haînot.
      Nog sterker : de Waalse tongval
      lijkt wel Frans met zelfs een Hollands ((noord-nederlands))
      accent.)

      An alternative would be www.nsinternational.nl It gives you more options. I believe all trains will go via Antwerp (probably have to change there) High speed train goes only from Amsterdam to Antwerp, Local train for the last part!
      It's probably to far for an one day trip!
