As much as I believe Jordan Rakei deserves much more recognition than he receives, a large part of me wants him to remain low-key so that he can continue to make music that he passionately loves. A main-stream Rakei seems weird to me, and if he lost any authenticity, I would be heartbroken.
I feel the same.!! but also.. James Blake pretty much managed to keep his authenticity after all of his collabs with Bey, Kendrick, etc i think its possible
These days labels have far less power due to so many artists being independent . So artists have far more say in creative control, as long as they are steadfast in their will to maintain integrity . But I agree, it would be sad.
I love the purity of this video. I think this was masterfully captured. Jordan's voice is pure and sensual over the guitar. This version is better than the original. It has heart, feeling, movement and is not rushed. The background vocalists are in sync with the song and its sonically smashing.
Dawn McGhee You have a way with words, what a wonderful comment. It honors the song! 💙 I love it when somebody else manages to put my thoughts into words this beautifully.
[Verse 1] Once I borrowed the canvas to my lover's heart But the stone was too full, and that envelope had a letter In that scarcely room Back in silence is when it all began falling apart I was always a clumsy speaker, and we couldn't find one another In that scarcely room Mark my words, I say I'm guilty of no poetry I was working, I confess, I see the courage in her eyes In that scarcely room There were words of disagreement But we talked to find the answers, in a mutual disposition In that scarcely room [Chorus] How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self [Verse 2] Shout at me and mirror traits of insecurity See the man had stole her fire, so was her who put the flame out In that scarcely room Courted dress for the occasion, yet not filled with glee His hands reaching for the curtain, she was quick to put the light out In that scarcely room [Chorus] How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self
I love this song so much, it's so beautiful and really helps me understand my place in life and shows me that we're all alike in a way. The most beautiful music in my eyes is music that's honest.
Just listened to this guy on COLORS and this is the first video of his im watching because i had to dig deeper into this guys stuff. This video was posted on my bday...if thats not fate idk what is.
Discovered this channel today looking for Matthew and the Atlas and I'm absolutely LOVING it. Beautiful videos and I'm being introduced to so many different, amazingly talented artists! Cracking stuff, well done 👍🏽
I went by the drug store to see what I could see. The drug store was full, sadnes right before my eyes. The drug stalls are waiting for healing, healing of self. Belief is what is needed to purify. Purity you can't buy. The drugs stores are fall of people whom are all by themselves. Take a hand, ther e temperature is rising, raise there hand, hold what you feel in front of you. What life do you hold, blanket, covers you. Sleep well Ps this should be good night. X
That's beautiful Jordan! So proud of you! *Hope that you're having a great day* 😛 *Check my covers if you want, even if it's only you that would make my day!!* ❤️

*Listen to 'Peacock Affect - Who Cares If You Exist'*
the key change at 3:06 was so amazingly subtle
Jordan as transcendent as ever. The cinematography is awesome as per, would love to be on the Mahogany sessions one day!
Jordan tends to make me cry. His voice and his lyrics so pure so honest expressed in sheer brilliance and eloquence...💎💎💎💎
This is poetry in motion. Those harmonies are so beautiful and haunting at the same time.
Channelling that Fink ostinato
He never disappoints!
This version is pure magic

Came back for another hit 🎉❤💕🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Literally one of the best gems in the last 2 years I have found he is so good in making you engaged and enthralled by what's going on
This man's voice always puts me at ease ❤
[Verse 1]
Once I borrowed the canvas to my lover's heart
But the stone was too full, and that envelope had a letter
In that scarcely room
Back in silence is when it all began falling apart
I was always a clumsy speaker, and we couldn't find one another
In that scarcely room
Mark my words, I say I'm guilty of no poetry
I was working, I confess, I see the courage in her eyes
In that scarcely room
There were words of disagreement
But we talked to find the answers, in a mutual disposition
In that scarcely room
[Chorus]
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self
[Verse 2]
Shout at me and mirror traits of insecurity
See the man had stole her fire, so was her who put the flame out
In that scarcely room
Courted dress for the occasion, yet not filled with glee
His hands reaching for the curtain, she was quick to put the light out
In that scarcely room
[Chorus]
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself
How can I find a reason to love you, when I don't love myself, self

Killer, love it dude. Guitar work is reminiscent of Dallas greens style
