If we’re talking about making this sport mainstream (which I know you’re all about), the less of this arguing before the go the better. You may say it’s just part of the sport, and that’s fine if you’re happy to keep it a niche sport. Any sport where you need to know such complex intricacies to understand creates a high barrier to entry which in turn leads to not many people entering
the cool thing about this video is it could help John in a potential rematch. But also I could see how this might mess with Levan's head if he were to watch this video. Every opponent brings a new and different set of challenges.
Understanding what your opponent may be telegraphing is key to success in just about everything. Devon's higher level of thought process is what makes him an assassin. Well done, Devon!
sabin was talking about this with Ermes vs Genadi, since Ermes was more use to pullin with say North America style setups, for example like travis setting up alot of it determined in the beginning for him.
Basically how much grip or purchase the person has on someone's hand. So the more depth the more of their hand you have aka you are higher on their hand more in control of pronating. Basically why every armwrestler try to gain height because from that position you can pretty much do anything but gripping lower limits your options, that's not to say lower grips aren't good but you definitely have to be very good to grip lower as a higher grip can negate some strengths of the opponent.
All we ever hear about is John’s hand. However, John said his hand wasn’t as strong as Devon’s hand. But he did say he thought his arm was strong enough to pin Dev.
Yes when you shake a guy's hand you can tell a lot about everything his has... Thanks Devon for mentioning this. We r with u to what ever end! You will beat levan
Sorry Devon but it does look like you keep reaching your hand up giving you a major advantage and I disagree if your arm is longer you should have to move back in the pad if that’s what it takes to make a fair grip jmo
John did pretty darn good considering he was only 5+ months into his comeback! Will you consider pulling John again after your Levan match? I'm 100% in with you on this one buddy... great back and forth in the lead up to John's match... fully expecting off the hook Devon psy-wars in the lead up to Levan! Let's go Devon... let's go Canada!!! Arooooooooooooooooooo!
I mean when MMT used the kings move on Devon a rematch was all we wanted. Was Devon 6 months out of retirement lol? They all need to drop weight. Devon is like 40+ lbs heavier than when I first started following him.
We dont care if you dont post another video for the next six months. Go deep, become a recluse, use all the pancakes, transform into the hulk, we are all behind you..
The reason you got a foul in my opinion was because when johns elbow was up your webbings were even we can all see. But if John were to then put his elbow down, it would lower his webbing and they would be uneven. Wheras if you move your elbow back, johns elbow is then down and the webbings are still even.
Devon 100% shouldn't have gotten a foul there because his elbow was on the pad and his hand was isn the middle. John was definitely breaking more rules in that setup but he's the goat so he didn't do anything wrong lol
Wouldn’t it be a big disadvantage to have to move to the back of the pad while your Opponent gets to sit on the front of it? Gives Devon zero pad to work with on the go while John gets all of his. I do think that he should move some to make the webbings even but how far exactly is fair?
I never arm wrestle, but it's very interesting to see analysis on this because I'd never think about these things. I wish matches started faster though, the back and forth is interesting before the actual fight, but it seems silly to have it go on for 2+ minutes

Devon there is no question that you are one of the greatest to ever and may ever do it! Can't wait for you to face Levan! I have so much faith in your ability! That hammer will stay yours bud Happy Holidays to you and the fam!
When Bill set refs grip after wrap then moves to wrists, both of you changed grips, so whats the point of holding wrists when he could have just wrapped fingers around you both and held from the top until he said go. It seemed when he moved to the wrists that someone is going to false start accidental because he hesitates a split sec moving to the wrists all while you guys are applying pressure prepping for the hit.
Until Levan breaks his Canadian T-Rex Arms. Levan is way too strong for Devon. Look what happened when Denis beat him 6-0. Boom!! Devon had no chance. Same goes with Levan, another victory for the Hulk Levan. 🤫
Honest question for you Devon, if the setup and KOT ruleset is so important for you, do you think John would have won the first round with a strict ruleset with a reffs grip? Do you feel that he had good enought strenght for that? I am not talking about winning the whole thing, just round 1.
Devon has worked out how to get an advantage in the setup, John called it but the referees are just so poor. He puts his elbow at the front of the pad, angles his hand to match the opponent but before the ref says go you can see that angle has gone and Devon's arm & hand are straight giving him the tall posting position advantage. Can't blame Devon for doing it.
@@nanthipat1 no going knuckle high going for height on the hand is cheating. Same as curling in both of which Devon does constantly. He did it against chafee, bagent, barbosa. He always does it verse strong hitters because hes scared of them.
@@MrTalon0623 Hilarious, John is notorious for having his wrist curled in everytime, and his false starts. Chaffee is almost always never square, and false starts a lot. Same for Bagent who mastered set up manipulation and going before the go. Barboza another. I can go on, and this is just scratching the surface. They ALL do it, complaining about Devon alone is a joke.
I agree.. a lot of the times in any match the winner has already won before the ready go. and yes depending on the ref's and rules. it's rare to see matches start equally? I see it more with the women.
Thanks for the review Devon. Thanks for showing the respect you have for John post-match. I'd have loved John to have gotten that one pin, and I also believe a press or a climb up your fingers could have led to a pin.
Im so happy its not mainstream
Couldn’t agree more!
@@sergeysmelnik you're happy pros are not making almost any money?
Yeah the PAL is so mainstream 😂
@@szelitzkyerick7456 exactly 😂
the cool thing about this video is it could help John in a potential rematch. But also I could see how this might mess with Levan's head if he were to watch this video. Every opponent brings a new and different set of challenges.
Understanding what your opponent may be telegraphing is key to success in just about everything. Devon's higher level of thought process is what makes him an assassin. Well done, Devon!
Devon, youre the best man
sabin was talking about this with Ermes vs Genadi, since Ermes was more use to pullin with say North America style setups, for example like travis setting up alot of it determined in the beginning for him.
Just watch when Travis smashed Chaffee on right or when he faced that big Bulgarian dude on left in 2018
You're attention to detail is truly phenomenal. To me it felt like an old skool v8 (brzenk) vs a 2JZ (Devon) match
What does Devon mean by "depth" during the grip-up?
Basically how much grip or purchase the person has on someone's hand. So the more depth the more of their hand you have aka you are higher on their hand more in control of pronating. Basically why every armwrestler try to gain height because from that position you can pretty much do anything but gripping lower limits your options, that's not to say lower grips aren't good but you definitely have to be very good to grip lower as a higher grip can negate some strengths of the opponent.
@@SpiffingDay cool thanks!
Love to see more match reviews
All we ever hear about is John’s hand. However, John said his hand wasn’t as strong as Devon’s hand. But he did say he thought his arm was strong enough to pin Dev.
Thanks for talking us through that :)
Yes when you shake a guy's hand you can tell a lot about everything his has... Thanks Devon for mentioning this. We r with u to what ever end! You will beat levan
Devon in 2160p60 hits different
Sorry Devon but it does look like you keep reaching your hand up giving you a major advantage and I disagree if your arm is longer you should have to move back in the pad if that’s what it takes to make a fair grip jmo
Exactly
Great job Devon!💪💪💪
John did pretty darn good considering he was only 5+ months into his comeback! Will you consider pulling John again after your Levan match? I'm 100% in with you on this one buddy... great back and forth in the lead up to John's match... fully expecting off the hook Devon psy-wars in the lead up to Levan! Let's go Devon... let's go Canada!!! Arooooooooooooooooooo!
No. John needs a return to lesser weight. Him vs Todd hutch is the match in another 6 months I'd like to see
@@jtboss8139 that would be a war
I mean when MMT used the kings move on Devon a rematch was all we wanted. Was Devon 6 months out of retirement lol?
They all need to drop weight. Devon is like 40+ lbs heavier than when I first started following him.
Anytime devon talks.
I must watch
We dont care if you dont post another video for the next six months. Go deep, become a recluse, use all the pancakes, transform into the hulk, we are all behind you..
Man you,YOU made me watch armwrestling.I rly like your all matches alot.!!
@@davidbearer4154 yeah both guys were at fault right there. Not just devon. He even explains this in the video
Merry Christmas Devon! Thanks for the break down!! Much respect.
Why did John get the bad side of the strap after winning the coin toss?
Camera set-up required him to be on that side. A bit crazy. Not sure it was a ploy or a lack of communication.
I never arm wrestle, but it's very interesting to see analysis on this because I'd never think about these things.
I wish matches started faster though, the back and forth is interesting before the actual fight, but it seems silly to have it go on for 2+ minutes
you have to scoot your elbow back having the longer arm. ive seen it all the time. that foul was correct. all part of the fight though
Hey Devon. I’ve watched tons of videos starring you on many different channels. My favorite of your videos are you reviewing the newest top fight videos. I love to stay up to date with the top fights and of all the fighters you have the very best insights and perspectives. Please start doing TH-cam videos of you doing commentary for all the top fights just like this video. I will watch them all 😄👍
Devon there is no question that you are one of the greatest to ever and may ever do it! Can't wait for you to face Levan! I have so much faith in your ability! That hammer will stay yours bud
Happy Holidays to you and the fam!
John is the goat of Armwrestling. Devon is the goat of modern Armwrestling.
These are gold. I've been looking forward to hearing this.
Don't grow old 💔
No one can give us matches like you.
More support and power to you sir
Big fan from pakistan 🇵🇰
we need more of this. i love it.
Devon you’re on another level👍you’re a legend👍👊
Until Levan breaks his Canadian T-Rex Arms. Levan is way too strong for Devon. Look what happened when Denis beat him 6-0. Boom!! Devon had no chance. Same goes with Levan, another victory for the Hulk Levan. 🤫
@@JamesLee-ph9go Denis beat him with his Left arm, Devons right arm is the hardest Levan will ever face👍
Holy Shit! A Devon video in 4k. :D
Honest question for you Devon, if the setup and KOT ruleset is so important for you, do you think John would have won the first round with a strict ruleset with a reffs grip? Do you feel that he had good enought strenght for that? I am not talking about winning the whole thing, just round 1.
Devon said in this video that John could have won this first round if he had transitioned into a flop press after 2. surge I think it was.
Merry Christmas to you and your family👊🏼Be safe
Devon has worked out how to get an advantage in the setup, John called it but the referees are just so poor. He puts his elbow at the front of the pad, angles his hand to match the opponent but before the ref says go you can see that angle has gone and Devon's arm & hand are straight giving him the tall posting position advantage. Can't blame Devon for doing it.
called cheating lol
call techniq, When your elbow doesn't come off the seat, he's not wrong he used it on everyone he knew who was stronger than him and learned.
@@nanthipat1 no going knuckle high going for height on the hand is cheating. Same as curling in both of which Devon does constantly. He did it against chafee, bagent, barbosa. He always does it verse strong hitters because hes scared of them.
@@MrTalon0623 the other guys can do it too
@@MrTalon0623 Hilarious, John is notorious for having his wrist curled in everytime, and his false starts.
But in some ways it would have been wrong for him to beat you so soon after his return. Where would he have gone from here? However, I hope he regains some self-confidence. You have to love the guy! And Devon, you are also likeable when you aren't being obnoxious ;)
Thanks for the breakdown!!!
Dos
I love your reviews and insight thanks Devon
Devin you are such a MAMMOTH ambassador for the sport of armwrestling. As a MMA guy you do a GREAT job with making me want to follow your sport also. Keep up with everything you are doing, and don't change your 'rough and ready look' also ....in this day and age with narcissistic wannkeers everywhere its farkn refreshing to see!!!!
I've been going around saying it. I really don't count this match. Has nothing to do with controversy or anything, it's just the fact of a simple exchange of legendary hands. The match was excellent as I knew it would be, and whatever as people make it as predictable to be. It was just excellent to see you both on the table as it's always been. John looks the best I've seen him, course looks don't necessarily mean a thing. I hope he only goes forward from here. Same to you both because it's mesmerizing seeing how amazing you both have become.
