I started the game only 6 weeks ago. i looked into the different units and when I saw the Khan's Guard I immediately fell in love. It was obvious that they had to be devastating but at that point I didn't even know of the power of the Glaive. They are the best unit in the game - period.
maybe this is a obvious answer but doing a 3rd round with khan guard dismounted would be another interesting one since horses do not win sieges overall i expected it to be a bit more close but that melee is just too much lol
it is a bit silly just how strong the khans guard are in melee (given that they are a horse archer unit), they are by far the best melee cavalry in the game. A 100 khans guard (melee) vs 100 imperial elite cataphracts or banner knights, makes for an extremely one sided slaughter.
They have horses and glaives. If the ai worked well, the first round would be slaughter as well. Also turning around constantly will drastically lower the accuracy and fire rate of the fians.
They said that about Vlandian Crossbowmen. Ideally those crossbowmen would plant their Pavise and shoot from behind that. Also, ideally you can get a lot more crossbowmen compared to horse archers
Bro I just got the game based on this video alot to learn but now I have KG plus tactics and I'm unstoppable. Ive had 70 KG beat mixed armies of 200-300 hundred with less than 10 losses. Literally just tell them to stay at range soften them up flank ,then hold fire and charge with Melee only on their back line archers then let them loose on the rest. it is glorious.
As if you got the game based on one of my videos thats sick! Sadly I need to get a new pc iv been missing Bannerlord and would love to get back uploading more content :)
@@zessed263 honestly! this video was a game changer for me simply because knowing how insane KG are at just Melee with that knowledge I mop up so many enemies with have a shoot out with range when you can run them over with the KG.
I ran into something like this with my battanians I sent them up a hill and we barely won but we were able to just pepper them with arrows when their horses slowed down.
I find the best way to use horse archers is as stationary archers that can relocate very fast. When standing still they are just as deadly as Fians, but when infantry gets close they can just move away to another hill.
@@DK-ep2ov The point is that you can move them away super fast. Fians HAVE to commit to melee when the enemy reaches you, but with Khan's guard you can relocate or charge in with their massive glaives.
You have to out smart them. You'll need a strong infantry with throwing weapons & strong calvary. Send the infantry to player's left to draw the horse archers away from your archers. Then get the Cav to follow you. What you want is to box in the horse archers with your throwing infantry & cav. Once you get up close, they'll put away their bow's and you can wreck house. Set the Cav to charge so they can move freely to attack. The horse archers will retreat and your cav / infantry will follow, so be sure to reset their formations before they charge head on into the enemy's main force.
They are equipped to defeat any single unit type in any single position. The only real answer is to split your forces such that the Khan's Guards can't circle them all, and move heavy infantry (preferably spear infantry) forces into their path to slow them down and give archers and lance cavalry a fair shot. Khan's Guards are the only unit that require this type of combined arms tactics to counter.
@@zessed263 not sure if the crossbow perks have been implemented properly but if there was any unit to be anti cav i would guess crossbowmen though i dont think there is any elite version so there is not much potential there for a real dominating performance

the only reason the ranged battle was remotely close is cause the fians spawned right in the path of the khans guard. khans easily win outnumbered 2:1 against fians
Late to this, but I was fighting against this khuzait army and they had a lot of horse archers, mostly kahn’s guards, I was commanding my army and sent my cav to the flank to attack their infantry but than the Kahn’s guards came and peppered my infantry and archers and my infantry force got obliterated, I had to call my cavalry back to help fight the kahn’s guard and my cav barely won too. i barely won the battle. The army I commanded went from 900 to 400 really quick.
@@Freedmoon44The Khan’s Guard NEED their horses to compete, that’s the only thing that makes them superior in open field battles. The KG have weaker bows meaning they need to get much closer before they’re able to do damage. Also the Fians would have a much better chance in this battle if they weren’t told to charge and simply stayed in formation. Obviously mounted melee defeats foot troops any day of the week.

You had the fian champions super stretched out in loose formation and it looked like you had a second unit in square formation or line formation on the left side and you had the Kuzait archer's in regular line formation witch bunches them up and hurts their ability to do there thing. not a truly fair fight bias from the content creator for Fian Champions 100%
fr if the horse archers are already programmed to circle around then why not just put them in loose formation? if 2 players would use these units and fight fians would prob win
I see it again now. Technically no npc army would have a formation like that one and also the archers could have been stretched out to their limit, which was the cause of their bunching. Due to the AI and game mechanics you can win any battle with at least 300 Khan's guard if you use the engage mechanics or manually attack and retreat then leave the battle after runn6out of ammo

They're horse cav, op as heck
Glaives one shot everything. I had 10 elite cataphracts go against a single Torguud, and he took the head of one before dying lol

khans guard archery is nowhere near as good as fians, this is false.

I do hope they make the supply system like Age of Empires 3 instead, where a Cossack only cost 1 supply while a Cuirassier costs 3.
