ALWAYS use your turret shots even at 0%. They don't squadsight so overwatch is useless and they have an over 50% chance of destroying cover even if the shot is 0%
This was such a fantastic mission to watch! Your decision to bring three snipers might have saved a lot of lives. Otherwise, you'd have to head in a lot more and taken a lot of shots to the face. It also showcased why snipers are my favourite class - watching them take down enemies from afar was really freaking cool. RIP to Wraith - I loved him :( That was really unfortunate.
That was a marathon and a half, but you got it done! Losing Wraith was rough, but you definitely did a great job to keep everyone else alive. That Legate is terrifying - and this was with 10 (well, 9😢) soldiers!
Dear god, that Legate... Just looking at its abilities is enough to make one consider just giving up... Good job taking it down without any further losses.
Thank God for Knightfather and his healing or it could have been much worse! Enemy damage reduction is the worst unless you have time to snipe them from a distance over multiple rounds (Of course, a 21 damage crit pretty much sucks also, RIP Wraith - you fought the good fight. :(
After finally downloading the modpack myself: The option to remove "Wounds" and "Requiems" in the infirmary is enabled by default, so yes, you should be able to remove them
I like to think of the Dodge (Grazed) hits against big enemies like the Sectopod as the bullet hitting their armor at a bad angle and skimming off the side instead of punching through, rather than the robot itself duck and weaving.
I feel like only taking 1 loss was pretty fortunate things could’ve and arguably should’ve been a lot worse with that many scary enemies, will be interesting to see how you handle it when it’s not an avenger assault. Also very surprised no requiem is immune to frost seems like as long as you always save it for units like that you’ll be fine. And with shadow chamber you will be prepared, very entertaining tho, also not sure how you keep getting lucky finding the hives as the first pod I imagine when you don’t find them first they are more scary with all the nightmares popping out
Had he taken a different mech, there would be two losses, cause Petrol only survived due to "reboot" (stasis like skill he has, that kept him at one HP when he was brought to 0)
What an episode! You can really feel the force level. Hopefully you get some more praetorian corpses with all their advanced units running amuck, turn them into vests. I noticed in the gene mods there is a praetorian respirator which seems to do the same thing as the vest, something to look into for troops going on long missions.
Seems incredibly lucky that you went left side and avoided the Legate until the main gun was destroyed, cause I think it might have ended the run if his timer stopping thing did not stop the gun from shooting (and I assume it does not). PS. Legate felt so powerful that it forfeit its first turn after thawing from ice :P I guess reading through the impressive list of skills it has takes too long to decide upon an action in one turn xD
It probably doesn't stop the gun. The little guns were still doing damage while he was fighting the Assassin, and she has the same timer stopping ability. Odd took her out before the big gun fired, but if the little ones were still going, the big one probably was too.
@@davidsmith8997 Reminds me of the "Triangle" Rule, or something like that. The three points of the triangle are damage, toughness, and speed. Most enemies should be built with only one of those things being high. Bosses or special enemies that are less common should have two. You should NEVER have all three unless it is an enemy that is designed to be avoided or defeated through non-direct combat (like triggering some trap or firing some weapon using environmental triggers). The Legate with its VERY high damage, extreme durability, and extra actions is all three...
y'know, generally I've made it a habit to solo the sabotage the monument missions with one reaper exclusively. my Tourist is maximally stealthy and can usually get to the monument easily. even if she gets spottet after the X4 placing, she has an action left and Dedication to jsut evac the F outta there ;) really handy when youre short on manpower ^^
Have done this on multiple assault the stronghold - can do with single Reaper if mission allows, or I've brought an entire squad if the game requires it and kept the others out of sight but near the base and just sent in the Reaper - works really nice when sent with their bondmate to give them the extra AP to get to the evac zone quickly.
----- Major Amy "Collux" Penton Log 104 ----- "I'm not sure wisdom has anything to do with it, but thank you for the compliment and there are more to injuries than just the physical. My brother was a Major in the first invasion and he had all sorts of mental health issues, especially after that initial invasion." She smiled at him again, sitting down to undo and redo the buckles on her armour to make sure they were snug and fitted properly, Shrike was ever so slightly smaller than she was so it needed adjusting anyway. She turned back to Karma looking into his lavender eyes once more. "To answer your question, Captain, I was never under their will. I came to look like this because of preliminary experiments and torture. You see, I was once a human. A little shorter than I am now, with small blue eyes, and I worked for the British, or what was the British government at the time of the first invasion. I suppose I'm labeled as a Skirmisher because of looks alone. I'm not a clone like most other Skirmishers are, like Shrike or Betos." Karma's confusion at the mention of her brother, and the invasion, rapidly turned to something resembling horror as he realized his mistake. His already large eyes widened to saucers as he stammered an apology. "O-oh! I was completely unaware, Major Collux. I am deeply sorry for ... mistaking your nature as a-- what I mean is, I could only ... um ... you see, you appear to be... Ahhhh, the name Amy Penton makes a great deal more sense to me now." ----- End Log -----
Any chance to un-nerf captured Exalt levels? Seems like now they would be good to get at high level since the enemies are so strong now. Plus, it would make up for losing squad members that time and AP went into leveling them up.
That Wound: Fracture trait reads to me like Sentinel would take damage any time someone on the squad uses Psionic abilities, not just enemies. That would be bad.
Few things I noticed why playing. Yes, Legates are scary. But their biggest weakness is a meme beacon. They, for some reason cannot hit it. Which makes it easier to deal with them. You should also use stasis way much more. You can have one in the psi amp and one on the psi soldier, which is extremely handy and lets you control the battlefield way WAY more. Also, you can suck will from enemies, which in turn means, you can, if managed properly, have psi soldiers on every mission, because you never run out of will and they don't get tired. A great tool is also the special really long cooldown skill they get. Cannot remember the name, but it gives you 15 - 40% of will and next psi ability is for free. That is why I have all of my best soldiers psi graded. You can on certain missions just wait and return enough will so that noone is tired. Oh and yeah, Legates are painful. Altars are even worse in some parts.
Those aliens here are literally like Nazis in the WWII - one thing that takes care of them all the time is the frost. Even the biggest and scariest are immune to all the shit but the frost. Imagine how many more casualties would Odd take if not for the frost bomb alone.

Archon is base game ruler pretty sure the spark was the only ruler added, the legate seems like just a very elite enemy similar to the ethereal which could also pause timers

I could see that thing easily tearing ten soldiers apart, I'm afraid if it meets a six soldier party it will be a wipeout. I felt like something was wrong when it didn't act after shots.
I think the team was solid - just bad luck the Nightmare beelined it towards Wraith, otherwise may have been a no casualty mission. Unfortunately, the damage reduction of high-end Requiem units means that it's likely going to take several turns to kill them, no matter what the squad composition. The best case scenario is that you can isolate them and snipe from a distance.

Not getting the loot at the end was a misplay. There was no chance at getting hurt, and it could only help bolster your supplies.
