@@karmenencendido9954 I do understand your point but being a singer myself, it's frustrating when gorgeous music is ruined (sorry no offense but that's how it feels) Marni Nixon ghost sang for Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood, Deborah Kerr and others without ever getting onscreen credit and by all accounts Hepburn and Wood insisted they could sing My Fair Lady and West Side Story themselves, which they could not. You can hear Hepburn doing "Moon River" in Breakfast at Tiffany's and it is pretty awful. I once sang "Somewhere" and "One Hand, One Heart" for a stage version of West Side Story - offstage and behind a screen. The producers decided they didn't want those two songs done by the non-singing Maria they had cast.
I honestly think it was brilliant to have these musically-untrained, amazing actors sing using their own voices. It doesn't make it nice to listen to, but as a movie it adds to the emotions of the characters. Dulcina is not a happy pretty character, so Sophia sounds exactly as Dulcinea realistically would - sad, cynical, and angry. Show me another actress who plays Dulcinea and spits literal fire the way Sophia Loren does (not saying she's better than others, but great in a different way... she played it the best way she could). This movie is so much better than the critics judged it to be.
I watched other actresses play aldonza on TH-cam and they don't even come close like Sofia Loren. They can sing, but they don't play the part like she could.

Two great actors but it unfortunately fails as a musical due the obvious important factor of their singing voices although O’Toole somewhat less as he was dubbed. Having seen one of the original productions on stage, the film suffers greatly in comparison.

She was never more beautiful than as Aldonza.

I prefer alto Aldonza. It’s far more believable than a soprano songbird imo.
