Good for a game from 2012, but it definitely did not age well. Awful VA, boring dialogue, lame gameplay. The only thing Skyrim has against other RPGs would probably just be the size of it or the art style. I have tried playing it, and watched others play it, and it is definitely not that good of a game. Take off your rose tinted goggles and give other games a shot. Skyrim is really not that good.
@@ChimpBrained I adored oblivion and the shivering isles but never could get into skyrim. Maybe that's around the time open world picked up for others but it lost its luster for me. I'll take a linear story with some fancy set pieces over and empty dead world any day.
@@ChimpBrained Skyrim plays like DND if it was first/third person. There is not another game that accomplishes this, you get a decent story, ok combat, but fantastic immersion. The only thing Skyrim doesn't have is good combat but for those DND fans that still play it's the character building and lack of modern UI that helps that immersion

From what I have played and seen, the story is meh. Good enough for a fantasy game story, but nothing impressive for someone looking for story or good writing. Immersion? Nonexistent. I love getting immersed in games, but skyrim is just not it. Sure, it still LOOKS pretty, but you literally hear the same 2 voice actors every 5 NPCs right from the start. If it were 2012? With all the lavish combat animations and such, they somehow couldn't give the main playable character decent walking animations. It's weird. But it's the Mortal Kombat style button mash combos that is going to be a complete deal breaker for me.

My guy, modern soldiers wear shit 10x heavier than plate armor and a broadsword with shield LMFAO, and they move way faster.

And the footstep sounds really add to that. There is no variation at all. Same sound on all furfaces, just looping on and on. This will drive me crazy after an hour of playing.

I was deceived by BDO and will not fall for any kind of visual salesmen tactics.I need to see game play game depth and action combat is usually NOT good in a rpg setting. Action combat works in fps shooters but in rpg's it lowers the depth of combat and just becomes a shallow swing somersault swing somersault combat zzzzz. There were sooo many bad design ideas in BDO I do not trust pearl Abyss to have any clue how to make a good game.
