Fun Fact the comic that this film was based on takes place on Earth 21; which was actually a recreation of Earth 2 from the Golden Age comics. However in this universe both Batman and Superman along with the members of the JSA are all still alive and well. In fact, the heroes of this universe have even taken up their universes versions of side kicks we’d normally see in the Silver and Modern Age comics. Superman has Supergirl (Kara Zor El Kent), Green Arrow has Red Arrow (Roy Harper), Flash has Kid Flash (Wally West), etc.

@@thedarkroom6416wym wdym I think that was very explanatory lol
Me when I spread misinformation on the internet
@@joshspacemanWho misinformed?
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 The original comment is wrong and seems to be mixing up New Frontier with Young Justice/Geoff John's Teen Titans. Conner Kent and Miss Martian don't exist on Earth-21, and Roy Harper is Speedy, not Red Arrow
This movie was great to see same with flash going back in time to ww2 times. I was hyped when superman appeared both times in a more golden age type of situation
I absolutely love this movie/ comic series. Something about Darwin Cooke's art style is dope AF
R.I.P. Darwyn Cooke, the writer and artist of the original comic miniseries this animated movie is based on. Absolute genius taken from us too soon.
I had this movie when I was younger and would watch it religiously. I loved the classic versions of these characters and really appreciated the unique storytelling. “We’re like the justice league.”
The movie actually takes place in the 60s and the characters are closer to their silver incarnation with hints of the golden age. Batman, Superman, and Wonder woman and JSA are all golden age while the rest are silver age
The movie blew my mind as a kid. It was way darker than I thought and I had no idea what I was getting into it. I still love it.
I LOVED the Batman in this. The voice, the threatening nature, the original costume, fabulous.
The late Darwyn Cooke grew up in Toronto. His love of drawing was inspired by a segment on a local morning kids show out of Buffalo called Rocketship 7. The host of the show was called Dave Thomas; although his real last name was Boreanez. Cooke was involved in the production of The New Frontier; so I wonder if David Boreanez got the job as Hal Jordan because his dad was the host of Rocketship 7.
I honestly used to not like this movie just because of how it removed my favorite superhero, Superman, at the critical point in the movie. However, looking back, despite that big nitpick, this was a good justice league movie that does justice to DC superheroes and the age it's trying to emulate.
One of my favorite non-DCAU DC animated films. I love the themes, the style, and the fact that it is an amazing origin story for the Justice League and most of its heroes.
I remember watching this when I was 5 years old in like 2010 and being scared of Martian man hunter 😂😂 rewatched about a good two years ago when I got back into comics and it’s genuinely one of my favorites
I only remember this movie from the image of Wonder woman in the bloody capsule. Left a mental image so long ago that I never shook.
I really love this movie. Batman had a great arc. Seeing Hal’s journey to Green Lantern was cool. Superman felt very classic and had several great moments. Martian Manhunter and Flash were well portrayed. Seeing the golden age heroes be forced to retire at the beginning reminded me of The Incredibles, my favorite movie. The characters were handled very well in this story and Darwyn Cooke succeeded in making the golden/silver age feel just as relevant.
When I was younger the opening credits of this movie scared the fuck out of me
Keith David as The Centre was the highlight for me and so was Martian Man Hunter I loved every single one of his scenes. I do get annoyed when Superman and Batman get sidelined like they did at the end but oh well thats just a me problem.
Superman's exclusion was in the original book as well; as for Batman, in the book, after a consultation with Superman, he's not seen again. Bruce Wayne is seen in one panel towards the end of the story telling his board that for the crisis they will work with LexCorp.
Btw it says that Lex Lang was the voice of Aqua Man not Alan Ritchson.
I also think that Jeremy Sisto was great as Batman
not golden age, silver age, 50s and early 60s.
🗣️🗣️ 9:43 Kale mention!!! 🥧☕️👍
I saw this movie on DVD back then. It was good. 😎👍
I forgot all about this movie I don't think I've watched it more than once and that was when it came out!
I have the same problem with the new 52 movies and even young justice to an extent where not many if any of the voice acting has any emotion in the line deliveries, like every line in the script is in lower case and only uses periods with the voice directors only advice is to read the lines as if an emotionless stoic Vulcan is reading them and says "perfect, got it"!
cool video--the paradox of comic books is that a recent writer/producer has an ideal in mind of a character from the past, and renders that in order to be faithful to the character. but in actuality is creating a depth that wasn't really there to begin with, like with this movie. and if you go back to the silver age, the material is crude and nostalgic. but it still has the advantage of the early date so it has to be considered significant. without it, the modern creator wouldn't have a vessel through which to express their more developed sense of creativity in the popular landscape. just thoughts
I didn't know how much I needed Kyle McLachlan as Superman until now
Sera una locura ver esta película live action gracias a James gunn
Would be beatiful if they Cameo in the Crisis Trilogy 😢😢
when i heard james gunn may do Dinosaur island in the DCU i thought that was dumb, i watched this film. and i actully hope he does. it would be new fresh and its kinda scary
I was JUST about to ask you to check out Justice League New Frontier!
I can see the Golden Age aka Earth-2 superheroes deal with serious things, it is the Silver age aka Earth-1 whom i couldn't. The former have done that in comics at least early days, while latter was rarely serious. The Golden age started with Superman in 1938, while Silver Age started with Flash in 1956, (but funny is the Phantom Stranger i seen is a Silver Age character while 1st existing in 1952), this however for DC, as Marvel have their own starts for either.
@@Timepilot94 The Phantom Stranger is 1952 and he is seen as Silver Age character, so it should start with him when go with when the Silver Age characters came out.
But Phantom Stranger, the Superboy comics and the Jimmy Olsen comics were retroactively placed in Silver Age. That is why Barry Allen Flash is seen as the start of Silver Age for DC, as he was that at start of time. But Sentai had 2 earlier seasons added in retroactively later and they did reset the start of Sentai with 2 shows earlier.
"The greatest Wonder Woman that never was" for sure.
Definitely was my first justice league movie and the one that got me into DC and there heroes
I was following the story so deeply that by the time Batman showed up, I forgot he was supposed to be in the movie
I watched this movie when I was 4. I don't know why, but at the time it really resonated with me. I must have been really inspired by it because despite not remembering the dialogue very well I could sort of understand the story beats.
We're in the justice league
Damn it, Mr. Infuso. You actually found something I have never seen before
I salute you 🫡
In the old animated movies when the movie said justice league it has the hole justice league is in the movie not just the trinity
I haven't read The New Frontier, but I loved this movie. The story & voice talent were superb. The fact that Wonder Woman kissed Superman kind of shocked Me. And she's taller than him. The book is still on My catch-up list.
You really should read it. It's great.
This movie felt like the start of the best movie or TV series that we never got... *sigh*
This def would be a great way to start the dcu with a justice league film.
Never Thought that this Movie Actually Existed.
3:37 “Do it”
“For you, all I need is a penny for a book of matches.” 🔥
Sometimes when I'm bored I nail people's mailboxes shut
I loved the designs of the JL
I discovered this one after looking for Neil Patrick comic adaptation roles, cause I knew he had a bunch. Also the intro to this movie is apparently really cool
were like the justice league
One of, if not, these best Justice League animated films. I was hoping for a sequel that continues their story.
The miniseries it was based on was a one-off so there was nothing left to adapt.
@@BiggieTrismegistus Ooh well. It was fun.
I like that The New Frontier doesn't focus on Batman or Superman but instead on Hal Jordan and Martian Manhunter, it's refreshing.
This is what I was hoping James Gunn bases his DCU on athletically. A bit of this and BTAS. Embrace the fact that these heroes are older, but also timless so make it look out of time...old and futuristic
It is odd that they seem to be going with Golden age style Batman, Superman, and Wonderwoman. But then use Silver age Flash, Aqua Man and GL.
You know what this channel should do talk about the parody version of Justice league characters from other shows like the Fairley Oddparents and TMNT.
Ok, so I was today years old when I realized that Jack Reacher is Aquaman.
Martian Manhunter should always be voiced by a brother aka a black guy
This wasn't the first justice league animated movie. Justice League secret origins originally aired on November 17, 2001 as a full length movie.
9:14 yuri is also Ben Tennyson.
The animation is perfectly adapted from the comic book
It's not true u have to sign up to a healthcare plan first B4 u can get the subsidies, it's really designed for u to get health insurance
I recently saw the old 1980 version of the "Justice League", it was horendous.
Please do a justice league gods and monsters movie video please!!
This movie is great but comic tackles even heavier topics of racism and mccarthyism through John Henry irons and hourman respectively. They get more time in the comic
You say “golden age” a lot, but it feels like you mean Silver age, given the importance of Hal Jordan and other silver agers like that
I hope 1 day this channel does a review on the Justice League episodes Fury.
After watching those 2 episodes I've realized I hate Wonder Woman, more specifically I hate the characters hasn't evolved passed her origin that centers around sexism.
Is it took much to ask for a reboot of the character that has nothing to do with sexism.
I'm so tired of WW and the characters associated with her talking about how men are evil and completely the flaws of there own gender.
PS:
(1) I acknowledge the Era the character came from but I feel the main female DC super hero shouldn't have sexism as her theme explored in her stories.
(2) 1 thing I hate is how some sexism stories make it seem like women are all united against men instead of showing the reality that there are women who will bring other women down.
we're like the justice league.
Felt that the Movie went way Beyond the Event
This movie was on repeat in my house, Crisis on Two Earth's and Flashpoint Paradox as well. The tomorrow-verse is terrible
We’re like the justice league
It's a very good movie but the comic is vastly superior, Darwyn Cooke created one of the best DC stories ever
Since when did Yuri play the flash?
Why does the Flash have brown eyes ? Barry Allen has blue eyes, and his protege, Wally West, has green eyes. Very inconsistent.
The first, but a good one.
Justice League
Where like the justice league
It’s the best Justice League movie
You should do a video on batman brave and bold joker
What do you mean...The First?
This looks really awesome😊
You should go into the DC anime collabs. It's so strange to say that after watching the batwoman Catwoman movie that we are getting a task force X Isekai
They got teen titans an anime inspired show
@@yarc9 anime inspired is not the same thing as anime. Atla is also an example of this but it's a cartoon that knows what to take from anime and use it for themselves without just copying it like Steven universe and star vs.
And in some funny cases anime can be inspired by cartoons or a cartoon artist goes into anime instead like code lyoko. Lots of nuances to this.
I doubt he's gonna like it, considering his feelings on anime.
Yeahhh, he's not the right person to review the anime collaborations DC has. It would be best to find someone who won't be biased to the medium.
@@ivanbluecool exactly and also I would like to say that anime was inspired by the cartoons of the west it's strange but also great that they succeed the west
To me Justice league: the new frontier has always been DC'S version of Marvels with art by Alex Ross.
I hope we get a adaption of Marvel's and hell s adaption of Kingdom Come.
I think My biggest problem with this movbie was that it never had sequels or a TV show based on it. It left me wanting more.
"We're basically like the Justice League"
this movie is almost single-handedly what got me into comics as a kid
Alien dinosaurs is an interesting concept though.
We're like the Justice League.
Also, this is probably the film I watch more than any other Justice League movie, as I love how it's something of a Martian Manhunter origin as well as a JLA origin. Plus, it's just cool seeing Batman in his first costume.
0:30 i’m glad they eventually gave the show its movie
Love this movie and the comic it's based of, it captures certain scenes like flash vs captain cold, batman's first appears and the ending with JFK's new frontier speech perfectly
I can see Adam West’s voice coming this Batman because of the design
Nice 👍🏽
The movie is what would happen if the comics code authority never happened. The writers of yesteryear could be allowed to make darker stories and spend more time fleshing out characters instead of being forced into goofy hijinks.
This movie is lowkey great. It's awesome how they translated Cooke's art style to animation.
Probably my favorite Justice League animated movie for sure
Still the best justice league movie
We're like the Justice Society... Oops! 😬
I have bought this movie 3 different times. DVD, a special Commemorative DVD and DVD-Blu-Ray 2 pack.
Has this channel ever talked about the creators of famous DC characters and how they struggled to make a living?
If this is supposed to be Golden age version of these characters then Hal and Barry should be absent as the Golden Age Green Lantern and The Flash were Alan Scott and Jay Garrick respectively.
It’s really meant to be the transition between the golden and silver ages
@@gechoman44iwantahippo I know but there is NO transition for Barry Allen and Hal Jordon because they did not exist in the Golden age. They were created in the Silver Age. The placement of these two characters in a transition doesn’t work. You need to have the other two as they were the Golden age versions. Maybe they sacrifice themselves or move into retirement and the others take up the mantles. But this doesn’t work
WOW man you hit on point with Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman loved her in Xena Warrior Priciness. Awesome Vid
I wish we had more movies like this
Still one of my favorite DC films ever. Must've watched it nearly 50+ times
We're like the justice league
Yeah, this film was a pleasant surprise. I picked it up because it was priced to sell ($5 USD?) and it made me kinda like Hal Jordan. For context, Green Lantern is that superhero I _should_ have gone full fanboy for: green's my favorite color and I was really into Star Trek and Star Wars around the time I was really getting into comics books, but I quickly became a Marvel Zombie so I avoided DC like a dunce. _Anyway,_ I never really cared much for Hal Jordan until this. Well, also hearing about what he did becoming Parallax, before they retconned Parallax into a separate entity. I actually preferred John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and (eventually but before Hal) Guy Gardner.
The only thing that's bad about this movie is that it's too short. Especially when the original comic series is a fucking giant. Which is hilarious, considering that this movie is barely over an hour long, yet the adaptation of *Superman: Red Son* (based on a comic that is a little more than a quarter of the size of *DC: The New Frontier* comic) is almost 90 minutes. Tell me how THAT makes sense. Lol
I do take some
issue with the early comics not dealing with difficult issues. Action comics #1, which introduced Superman, features a man who beats his wife and Superman beats him and threatens to do worse if he hits his wife again.
