I drove all of these (RTS, Ikarus/NABI, Neoplan) on the route 65 out of Callowhill district. Amazing that after 31 years, this seems like just yesterday! Now driving Xcelciors. How time flies!
Yeah I remember seeing them on the 65 at Germantown and Chelten when waiting for the J with my parents. They were heavy with those RTS out of Callowhill
This is what I like to see! The classic oldies from the 90s. I was ten years old at this time taking SEPTA on my own mainly from buses out of the Midvale and Frankford districts.
I kinda find it funny that they actually managed to stick an ad for WBEB-FM 101.1 on the slope back part of the bus. Especially since SEPTA didn't buy the redesigned RTSes, and went with the Neoplans for their new fleet in the '80s. Well, that's one way to promote a radio station, I guess.
I remember the GM RTS buses for SEPTA, they were a different design! In 1980, I remember when Callowhill depot had got them, I lived a few blocks away at the time!! That's how I noticed them, the GM Fishbowl and the Flxible bused were still around too, wow, some serios memories!!!
This was the first RTS fleet 39 years ago, My first time riding tbem was 109,113,& 114 25 years later , Wow.. that was those days before New Flyer buses came 18 years. And NYC Transit familar faces says goodbye... The NovaRTS & Orion VII CNG's they been in service for over 38 years, I was there to seen M1,M7,& M20. Bout' to miss them too!
Look how raggedy they were back in 97. I remember when they were on on their way out to the grave when the Nabis arrived. I"was about 14 at the time. The RTS were great rulers of Philly and the suburbs.
I see two ex Philadelphian Bus Company right here in Puerto Rico. But two units repowered, one to Detroit Series 60 with Allison 730, and the other one with the 8v92 and Allison 730
8566 on the 105. I rode that bus on the 105 (Paoli via Lankenau Hospital and Lancaster Pike) back in either January or February 1997 right before it was retired. Did I hear a stickshift SEPTA truck in the background?
49:12. My gal the 8566. This video was made when the 105 stopped running in the early evening hours, and the 105 didn't have Sunday or holiday service at this time. That was probably the next to last 105 bus from either Paoli or Ardmore.
thier last time being in service after that, replaced, thankfully they did kept them for Bus rodeos till they want them no mo The Bus rodeo thing didn't come till later on till the years passed by
49:18. 8566 baby. 105. My favorite SEPTA Red Arrow Division route has always been the 105. 8500s as regulars on the 105 were among the several reasons.
I remember riding on these slope back RTSes in 1988 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

I wish I was a little older to experience them more. My favorite were the 8000 series Neoplans.
Those Nabis were horrible
@@christopherbryant366 only because they got beat up

@@blue9multimediagroup yeah septa definitely gets their money's worth out of them buses

@Lighthouse in the Storm well yea, to see the old Neoplans in action that I have not seen since I was a kid. It appears you take issue with that.
OMG OMG WOW!! The fact that someone posted this is amazing I was a little boy when they started retiring these TOO EARLY

I drove them when they were BRAND NEW out of Allegheny late in 1980 Just before I finally got transferred to Comly

@trainman1971 love the videos man. Takes me back to my best memories of Septa nostalgia and the paint scheme
12:12 example of caring driver and tough cyclist.
Lmboooooo
I don't think the driver cared. I feel he came out of the bus so he wouldn't get into trouble.
The Philadelphian Bus Company RTS-03 in SHUTTLE service with the 8v71 sounds like a Flxible New Look
I see two ex Philadelphian Bus Company right here in Puerto Rico. But two units repowered, one to Detroit Series 60 with Allison 730, and the other one with the 8v92 and Allison 730
The RTS fits all Type of Engines perfectly, it's very sad to phase out this buses with the low floor piece of crap units

@trainman1971 at this time was Allegheny in the process of receiving their batch of Nabis??
I may have been a month or so short of Allegheny receiving theirs.
Hopefully you got a video of a boston with mbta rts back in the day🙏🙏🙏

This Is My Favorite Bus Route 65
Kudos to the bus driver looking out for the idiot on the bike
I like the chrome wheels on the RTS
I was 16 years old in that year 1997.
Me too
1986 was when i boarded these buses
There's was a route 76 geez I remember the 47 and the 23 H/XH
Yup.
It ran from the Zoo to Penn's Landing mostly via the Ben Franklin Pkwy and east Market St.
Was replaced partially by the SPREE (6th-Market to 18th-Walnut) in 2001 and died completely the next year.
Did anyone see the guy who bust his ass at 12:14?
lolllll
47:40. 8710. That was a GREAT bus.
First driver couldn't steer at all 😆
Lol you ignoring the neoplans. I was like look at them. Look at our Metro B and D I remember they were the work horse of NJ Transit
Lol, they made it into other videos....
Nabi. : Pingas
12:13 🤣🤣🤣
