    Let me tell you something, I use an electribe 2 and a Roland jd xi right now, and I am banging out some pretty descent beats, but when I get this machine, it is all that I will ever need, ever again in my life. The only reason that I will ever have to use a laptop again is to find new sounds to put on to it, or to load my beats for selling. This is like a dream come true for a guy like me who loves little hardware drum machines and synth/drum machines like the jd xi and electribe 2. There will be enough drums to tweek, sounds to put onto it, and I can put my own beat boxing voice samples on here, which will be a huge library in and of itself. If you say that this machine is weak or say the sounds are bad or whatever, than you shouldn't even be a musician in the first place. I hear people complaining about this thing and how you have to press this button and do this and that, and I'm just absolutely dumbfounded. People back in the day would have said this thing was unbelievably something else. This thing is better than a dream, because it's real and we can have everything we will ever need to make music in this one unit, at the tip of our fingertips. It's insane. Dam, I get so excited just thinking about this and/or other hardware machines. Soon as I get one of these, you will definitely be hearing what I'm going to do on this bad boy.

    Brilliant! This is EXACTLY what I need to do. Then once I have sequenced and copied sections of the drum tracks, I hope to record guitar and vocals on two more separate tracks. Thanks for making this video, it's helped me to make a better informed decision on which unit to buy! (this one)

    It's not surprising it works as a drum machine as the MPCs have always been used for that even when using custom samples. However (assuming you were referring to the Arturia DrumBrute and not, as you said, Microbrute) you said the Arturia kicks were poor, which was surprising because you'd expect that with two differently designed and adjustable kick voices they would have all the colors covered there.

    should try a BOSS DR-202 with a midi pad controller. Drum sounds are awesome, adjustable, it has effects and also some amazing bass sounds. The pads are crap but I use Korg PadKontrol to trigger the sounds when creating patterns on it. Or sometimes create patterns with Korg EMX-1 but using the DR-202 as a sound module.

    I agree, the MPC X is next level. But did you run into the 2GB Ram crash issue?
    When I was demoing it, it would permanently crash because it ram out of memory. Does the WiFi, Bluetooth assist in preventing this.

    I’m just looking for a live beat machine that can loop (my own samples), so I can then play guitar and sing over. I don’t particularly need all the other features this has... any cheaper alternatives? Standalone is something I need however as I can’t risk taking my maxed out laptop into the messy bars I play in. Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

      @RyanMillerSP 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Connor Mac if you don't mind lugging around a huge heavy unit get a Roland my-8000. It's a beast and you can get one for 400. If you need something more portable get a mpc 1000.

    If proper sync is set up, shouldn't the MPC also start when you press play in Ableton, why didn't yours..? hitting play on MPC when Ableton was already running tells me it wasn't sync'd properly at all.?

      yes

    • @ozzelthecomposer5825
      @ozzelthecomposer5825 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah although it’s poorly designed in my opinion in that you can’t lay entire audio backing tracks since the patterns jump around if that makes sense. Apparently the other option is to turn your entire song into one long sequence and then drop your audio backing track that way but that’s kind of bootleg if you ask me. Not sure why song mode doesn’t simply have a paralleled audio section or something like that but I suppose I’ll figure a work around where my backing audio is chopped to fit the different sequences.

    Just a reminder you can use the Live as standalone OR controller mode with the MPC software. That’s what I like about it. I can start in standalone and continue my track in the software version. And by it being battery powered is cool. You can mount an internal hard drive or plug in a usb external drive. Wireless and Bluetooth too. I like it.

      C Sanchez 2 totally different animals. Having used both. I prefer the MPC pads over any pads. But the push is specifically designed to work with Ableton live, where the MPC live is a standard design alone unit. No computer needed...

    What I want to know is, does this come with just alot of really great drum and one shot sounds, or is there a bunch of instrument and synth sounds too. I'm just very skeptical of the price and how great the sounds really are, because I have hardware drum machines and a roland jd xi, which has done me well, and some of the sounds are awsome, but most of the sounds are just not that great. I mean, for 1200 dollars, this thing should have a bunch of every sound, and they should sound amazing with a little bit of tweeking and adjustments, the cheaper drum machines and synths take alot of work, tweeking and adjusting to sound even close to more full, punchy and professional sounds. Basically, is there synth and instrument sounds on here, and if so, how many, and are they legit sounds that can actually be used or adjusted to sound great, overall? Thanks

      I got my MPC Live for $1079 from AMS,and yes it does come loaded with sounds from Akai. The Vault,MPC Essentials,Capsun Audio,Loopmasters,Toolroom Records,it just goes on and on. Plus you have an SD Card and USB ports to import your own sample sounds too. Add to the fact that you have a door on the bottom of it where you can put in an SSD Drive size of your choice,the storage is insane. I've had mine for a few months and I'm still just scratching the surface of with this thing can do.Plus it has VSTs in it too with more to come,connect your MIDI keyboard controller via USB and you're off to the races.

    Nice plug for Akai, sir.. but "if you are a finger drummer" it's NOT better than Maschine controllers.. ITS NOT. i bought the Akai MPC Live because of the standalone hype (but back in the days, i had the MPC 2000 XL, & the MPC 2500).. & recently added on the MPD218 which i love using with my iPad .. BUT none of them matches the touch sensitivity of Maschine's Mikro or the MK2 & Mk3. Akai's drum pads are stiff & require that you hit them hard.. & that's the case no matter how much you adjust the touch sensitivity.. i'm watching your video, & its got good info.. just that one little statement is definitely not true.. its not. My MPC Live is sitting in a nice Pretty case waiting for me to have time to sell it on Ebay.. My Maschine Mk3 is hooked up & is doin' the damn thang for me... lol Peace Bro

    Native Instruments Mk3 is a better well built groove box. The Mk3 has Bigger better pads. Looks Sleeker and it is more sophisticated. Stand alone mode is cool but if you eventually going to dump your track into a daw anyway it really doesn't matter. Maschine Mk3 is a beast. Plus I don't want to touch my screen and leave it all nasty and smudged up. Editing velocity in maschine is easy. I tested the mpc live and its mad limited in stand alone mode.

      Ars Phoenix why would I I want to not have my laptop. My Mk3 has more sounds effects and instruments because outs software based. I have way more capabilities with my software vs the mpc live in stand alone mode. I dare you to try and compete with my Mk3 which is a powerhouse with your mpc live in stand alone mode. Lol.

    • @arsphoenix1822

      Yikes, you sound tough. I better run and hide.... The point is that many people don't like using computers for their music. This is where the new MPCs shine with only the Octatrack as a real competitor. Besides, even for those who do still like to use computers with their MPCs, they continue to do so because they prefer the MPC workflow.

    • @EngoneEndong

      I don't go on stage with a computer. I always use my Sp-404sx when I do live performances.
      Yes, NI did a pretty good job with that MK3 but, Akai did that before with the MPC Touch.
      Sounds effects are cool but It's more the way you will use them in a music that will define everything.
      I personally think that Akai responded pretty well to the critics with that beautiful MPC Live (that I will get for sure). Just because I want to go outside with a microphone and record everything I can and put these ideas all together on the spot. No need for a computer all the time. Ask Madlib.

      you get one Pinocchio for that fib, do you think you're the only person with access to the inter webs or something... If you call lack of tempo automation, recordable mutes, time signature automation, freeze/flatten (with fx), next sequence, features sophisticated I'd hate to see what you call unsophisticated.... and that is just a few of the things the mk3 cannot do.... do yourself a favor crack a the pdf manuals on both instruments (they're free to download) and head straight to the sequencing and sampling sections but fair warning.... your head is going to explode!

    Buggy, cheaply build controller and old pc tablet in a box, outputs on mine where not balanced either! I wanted to believe in the dream machine but it's a false prophecy. Consider a Surface Pro and MK3 for the same money.
