The Phil. Marines are using the 5.56 Marine Scout Sniper Rifle that can even reach out up to 1000 meters. The marines are not the best equip units, so for economic reasons they developed this rifle to fire a cheaper round than the .50 cal or even the 7.62. Originally intended to be temporary solution and slated to be delegated as a designated marksman's rifle upon the acquisition of newer 7.62 mm bolt-action rifles, but surprisingly the weapon proved itself very effective and became the primary sniper rifle of the Marine Scout Snipers due to its outstanding performance in the field.
On suppressors (mistakenly called silencers) sometimes can affect the accuracy for it tends to slow down the velocity of the bullet.
Anyway .50 cal is an overkill. Plus despite some innovations, the recoil is harsh especially to small frame Filipinos. To some big westerners, after firing 10 shots they feel tired and bruised for the fifty really kicks.
