Hi Natalie!! I am 72 1/2 years old and my lovely friend I am proof you’re never to old to learn!! Been busy organizing my home and helping my daughter organize hers!! We love the phrases Progress Over Perfection and Function Over Fancy!!!! Love watching you and your beautiful family!!! ❤

Natalie, two months into adopting your 2023 "progress not perfection" motto, has had an amazing impact on my own frame of mind of being paralised because I am overwhelmed at the tasks that lie ahead of me. Accomplishing one task at a time leads to another & I look back and smile at what I've accomplished so know you are making an impact on the lives of others by showing your own vulnerabilities. I appreciate you.

For me, spring cleaning is all about opening up the house to air out as the weather gets nicer. Making the swaps from cold weather items to warm weather items, like switching out clothes, washing and putting away extra blankets to get them out of the way. Generally making a whole house ready for to be functional for warm weather life vs. cozy winter life.

I use to be a "make a list, knock it out" spring clean kinda gal. But now I don't check lists off because I focus on all I didn't get done. I like to wander around my house and see what speaks to me in what needs to be done that moment. This way there's not expectations to fall short on and I can be proud of what gets accomplished.

I've been working on making as big a deal about spring/easter (our King's resurrection!!!) decor as I do winter/Christmas. I guess I'm just looking for less clutter in the spring, but I want my kids to know that Easter is an important time and not wonder why Christmas seems like a bigger deal.

@@NatalieBennett Oh yeah! I remember you have mentioned working weddings before. I’ve made a lot of wreaths but never one from dried flowers. I would find that most intimidating. Beautiful job, as well as your overall decorating. Love your thrift finds too. No kidding, I’d rather thrift shop than shop at the high end stores (let someone else pay the high price so we can get the good deals after they discard and declutter them from their homes 😉)

Natalie, This is such a beautiful video! From the footage of God’s amazing creation all around the outside of your house to the diy wreath and haul of vintage accents that add a touch of spring!💐
I love that creating a wreath and having a good, meaningful conversation with your kids helped you get just the motivation you needed to start decorating for spring. That segment and this entire video just felt so peaceful. Peace is definitely something I’m needing right now as I’m caring for my mother who just had extensive surgery to remove a pacemaker/ICD because she doesn’t need it anymore due to having a heart transplant one year ago. I’m so grateful that my husband was able to work from home today while taking care of our four children.
Thank you, Natalie, just for being YOU!!💐

Another switchfoot lover over here! Love that album so much! Was lucky enough to go to one of their shows when they toured here in the UK- that was 12 years ago!
When The Beautiful Letdown came out, I asked my mum to get me the CD when she was going to the town centre, as I was at college.
She asked the sale assistant for the new album from the band Swordfish 😂 Somehow the sale assistant worked it out and I got my album. We still call the band swordfish between us ❤

💐 Thank you SO much for showing the ups and downs, the “not feeling in the mood” due to oppressively gloomy weather, and instead of berating yourself and feeling guilty about the mood, you got the kids packed up and went and had a Skagit Valley outing and brightened everything up by going antique shopping. I love how even though you couldn’t control the weather or how it made you feel, you still did something uplifting and positive and it made a difference.
Also- your thoughts on Spring cleaning really made me stop and think! I’ve actually had to pause or unsubscribe from various content creators because they do these amazing cleaning videos but it is so overwhelming to me and just not plausible for me in this stage of life with 4 small children, so I’ve had to step away from those videos. I love that you are so realistic and can take “nibbles” of extra cleaning so that it’s not so overwhelming. 💖 You and The Daily Connoisseur (Jennifer) are my favorites because you break things down into manageable, enjoyable tasks.
And lastly, I love the decor you found!! You and I have very similar tastes! We live in a very modern home, but I decorate with an eclectic, vintage style. The thing I struggle with right now is: the only season that I decorate for is Christmas (and even then it’s really only the tree). We have always had a small space and there’s just not a lot of room for decor. I’ve never “decorated” for Spring, but I have started to use seasonal vinyl tablecloths and I am motivated now to switch ours to the Spring one after watching this.
When did you begin to decorate for seasons, and how would you recommend starting for someone living in a smallish space with kids? 😂 💕💕💕
Edit: what I mean to say is, I have year-round decor, like on top of my piano. I don’t know if I should swap things out for seasonal decor? That’s what I am wondering!

I battle chronic pain and fatigue. Usually on Mondays I do a whole house tidy, vacuum and clean the bathroom. Then on Wednesdays I pick 1 room and deep clean; cobwebs, dust, windows, curtains, etc. I do what i can while I have the energy, rest when I need to. I learned long ago instead of looking at what still needs done, I focus on what got completed.

I love your ideas on spring cleaning, thank you so much for sharing it. I feel my family is in a tough season that has honestly drug on through the winter and will continue into the spring. So it’s been hard for me to be motived to start my normal “spring” activities because I feel like so much from winter is coming over and I can’t start a new season. The idea of letting yourself rest is much needed for me and I thank you for sort of giving me permission to do that. You’re such a blessing ❤

Spring cleaning for me is to let yourself and your home get a fresh start, a reset, a switch. I micro clean and organize to start the change of the season, maybe alternate my super heavy winter clothes into more light sweaters and gradually changing to summer clothes as the months go by, and at the end everything naturally sets into place and automatically decluttering happens always

I'm with you 100%, when I start transitioning each season, I do it one little bit at a time. So you slowly see the transition in little parts of my house, for instance, I got some nice spring blooming fake flowers and I set them up on a tray on my ottoman, and in the bathroom you'll see a couple little springy flower like designs as well, I slowly start to remove the winter look and add that vibrant life giving colors of spring! But you're absolutely right, I like to do it at a slow pace as well. And it's fun because when you have guests over, they start to see those little touches. Oh and I'm a big throw blanket type of person so my couch will have a spring themed throw as well

Good morning. I'm with you...too much emphasis is placed on spring/fall cleaning that it all has to be done in one session, look a certain way, etc. My brain doesn't work like that. If I feel overwhelmed, my anxiety kicks up. And I don't want that. If I have to do something extra, I try to make it take no more than 10-15 minutes (be it decluttering, cleaning, tidying, whatever). My brain can handle short bits of doing a lot better.

I'm loving the vintage spring decor you found. The bunnies are adorable. The hand-blown vase is perfect. What wonderful items you were able to find. Have a blessed day. Can't wait until your next video.

Sorry missed the premiere. Got a phone call I was waiting for all day right when it was starting. Love the dried flowers! I wish one of my cats would stop eating any plant or flower Ibring into the house :( And with a daughter with allergies I decided to buy some real looking fake flowers and branches and store those and switch them out mixing and matching every season.
I never do spring cleaning. I have things that needs to be done either daily, weekly, monthly etc and just work through that scedule. I do the decorating that comes with the season do right now I slowly (as it is still freezing and kind of snowy/rainy weather, springs seems far away, though some buds in trees are aboout to burst into bloom) start switching the flower arrangements.

I have an ikea couch too and the best thing I did was remove the feet so it sits on the floor. No more stuff stuck under the couch! 😊

Science projects in the fridge… 👀 I see you. Our table has planner stuff all over it and I need to declutter my desk and hang pictures. Spring cleaning means opening the house and airing it out and declutter closets to get ready for spring and summer. 🍀🌷🌹🌸
