I started blogging in October2023 took a course that I probably paid too much money for but I did learn to set everything up, pick a niche and do SEO research. But all of the tools Ahrefs etc. can be expensive not to mention all the SEO ranking and keyword optimization etc. can definitely take the fun out of writing. I still want my blog to be successful, but I realize it will not happen as quickly as that course promised. I'm still committed because I love writing and eventually I would like to add a TH-cam channel as well. So happy that I found your channel to support me in my journey!!! I used to use Ahrefs also, but $100 a month was too much. I switched over to KeySearch and that only costs $17 a month. It’s not “fancy” looking as Ahrefs, but it has all the same info I was using at a fraction of the price. Good luck with your blog! It’s a slow moving machine, but once it starts growing, all the work will be worth it! 👏🏻💖

My channel is a travel channel and I launched it about two months ago and I am having a blast doing it. I only have about 20 followers 😄 but I don't expect anything to go quickly with any of this and that's fine. It is something I have always wanted to do and am finally doing now. I just made my new Instagram page and within the next week or so, I will finally start building my travel log. I have time to do these things now since I am now a disabled Veteran and am retired from working. So, my current status has now given me a lead-way to finally work on my travel channel etc..... I worked at a local radio station years ago and editing my own channel, reminds me of some of the work I did at the radio station. Anyway, thank you so much for this information. 🙂
Hi Katie, one thing i noticed visiting other blogging sites. The ads are dropping in from everywhere. Can this be controlled to have fixed ads on the page and not pop ads happening every second. Just curious on this. Love you podcasts. Thank you
I quit after also offer digital products like downloads but not necessary courses. So income would come from ads, affiliate and digital downloads. But it really depends on the niche - for me since I'm in a tech niche it's harder to get enough traffic to make enough with ads alone but for example if you are into DIY, home decor, food, fashion people are making a fulltime income with ads + affiliate income alone. Hope that helps.
The key - start 10 years ago. New blogs following generic advice will never be seen by Google's current algorithms. First AI answers, the ads, then Q&A, then the major authority big companies, then sponsored sites, then WAY down the page - new personal blogs. If you are not already ranked from having started years ago when it was possible, it's nearly impossible now.
Pinterest will not help you in terms of traffic if your "niche" is about any subject matter where the average female is not interested . for example pc hardware will not work on Pinterest simply because the majority of the users are in fact females. on the other hand if your blog is about fashion or beauty or how to stay in shape, Pinterest will help you regarding traffic if you create the "correct" pins.
But pics hosted on Pintrest get picked up by search engines. I've looked for prepper stuff before and clicked on a pic and ended up on a Pinterest pin. If it takes me to a blog on how to make a rainwater catchment system, that's fine with me.

Hey Annie, that sounds great - keep up the good work on Pinterest. So, I'm not really the Google ads expert but I would start with creating your adsense acocunt and then you can either let google add ads automatically or at specific locations. Hope this helps a little.

Wix I found very slow. I would stick with wordpress because it's cheap. Plus the blogging function on WordPress is better than any other platform. You can actually search your posts.

Hi, I have a question. I have been starting my own Pinterest Account because of your videos. I started with Pinterest about 6 months ago. After 3 weeks i had 600k impressions and it was going great. Two weeks later, i went back down to 30k impressions. About 2 months after that i had another spike to 500k and now its down to less than 20k impressions. Why is that a thing? I post 5x a day, everyday. I tried lots of different things, but non of it is really working. Im in the fitness niche and my pins are good (in my opinion). I also look at trends, keywords, etc.. What can help me? I dont know, if my account is flagged or anything. Any tipps? I would really appreciate a respons!

Sure some probably choose to use AI out of laziness, others whose time is more valuable than writing blogs would use AI purely from a time standpoint. Who not how, highly recommend it.
