50+ years fishing the D for me, having the luxury of growing up in central Oregon. I took up Spey casting many years ago and just recently picked up an Echo 3wt. Trout Spey. I'm really enjoying catching those fat redsides on a spey rod! Thanks for the inspirational video, you really captured the highs and lows of what we love to do.
All ways buzzing to see notification for catch magazine. Todd is hands-down my favourite when comes to fly fishing 🎣 videos he is the best 👌 time for new Atlantic salmon or steelhead video 📹 Todd you are the man .
Best wishes to Todd Moen and colleagues🙏. I'm from Indonesia. I've watched a lot of these fly fishing trip videos and every time I watch and observe the videos, the more inspiration I get for my next fishing trip content. Thank you again because you have inspired me several times. Good Video, Good Job😀👍
Whenever I see you have released a new video, it greets me like an early Christmas morning, filled with anticipation, excitement, and a resounding feeling of contentment. Thank you, good Sir..
Ah! My home river! One of the reasons I moved to Oregon 35 years ago. Some of those 'Redsides' are like hooking a passing freight train. You just hold on while you watch your line disappear. _Did you guys know that Smerf (Deschutes Canyon Fly Shop) has retired?_ The best thing is we'll have more time to fish together!
Absolutely amazing! I’ve paused the film multiple times to look at that fly, but wet its hard to tell. A natural of some sort, hen hackle maybe and rabbit cannot tell, looks awesome 🤙
It's almost impossible to pick the 'wrong' fly on that river. Although there are times the fish can get picky, it's usually more about presentation. Swing any small wet fly...naturally drift any dark nymph...or drift any of two dozen different dry flies and you'll hook fish.
Some of my best memories are fishing the lower Deschutes in the late 70's and again in the 90's. A wonderful fishery although I liked it much better before people started rafting it in droves. That's the way it is to grow old.
Dude, at some point in my life, I'd love to wet a line with you. I'm not a pro, but spend an average of about 120 days per year hunting all kinds of salmonids. My home water are the Catskills. I cannot tell you how much the Deschutes reminds me in size, flow, character and the exact same looking huge rainbows as the Big D or Delaware River. Like mirror copy all the way around. Average Bow on the Big D is 18-20 inches...your videos are always amazing.
Great video and great to see Jacob is still around. I am an old friend of his and fished the reservation with him many times. I lost contact with him when I moved to eastern wash. and now I'm up in AK. Any chance somebody can get me in touch with him. I would love to catch up with him Thanks , Kris Anderson
Todd could you share some info about your boat setup? I looked in the comments to see if you'd already covered that and didn't see it, so apologies if you've already been over this. Thanks!
Awesome trout fishing they were so beautiful and I just loved the scenery I recently did a trout fishing video it is so peaceful especially since I have been distracted with school love that bait that you use I have the exact same one my favourite is the lucky strike spinners thought anyway have a happy Halloween!
Awesome video it makes me want to get to the D having said that all of us who love the D know that she is under attack. Anglers need to educate themselves on the facts. Steelhead fishing is closed 2021 on this river for a reason. The hallmark of this river is really in jeopardy. Please search for ways to help. Deschutes River Alliance is a great starting point. Tight lines to all my fellow anglers.
awesome video! So you cast the fy/streamer and you just let it swim into the current waiting for the fish to catch it without retriving the line after the cast, am I right?
@@CatchMagazine I never really understood swinging flies. Are you essentially fishing them as you would an emerger? What else does a swinging fly imitate?
I’m unsubscribing! Another incredibly well done video. The editing is always spot on. It gives these such a great flow. Almost dream like. Thank you Todd for a front row seat on another cool adventure. Oh ya I used to love my job, now my desk, my computer feel like a ball a chain. Rather confining. Love the videos and all of the work you put into them. Looking forward to the next one!
Strong work! Lemme know when you need another camera man to run another angle! I’m ready to play when you are. Especially here in the #GreatLakeStates! Cmon visit. I’ll show ya some fun.
Are these brown trout or rainbows? Usually browns have larger spots ringed with brown…but I have seen them with the smaller dark spots similar to rainbows. So it often throws me off.
you must have caught every trout in the river, dont get up set about losing a fish and throwing your rod in after it we all lose fish some closer to the net than others, that is why its called fishing not catching,, on that end,, your boat was set up nicely what kind of boat is that,,,,,,, thank you for taking us along
Wow! Thank you. I needed that. Been dealing with chemo and radiation treatments and this video really picked me up! Thank you Todd
This makes my day. Thanks for the note and hope you get better very soon.
Hang in there Mr. J. Frank Vormohr
You are in my prayers of healing. Those trout are waiting for you to come and play. Best wishes for a full recovery!

Thank you!! Appreciate the support!
Great coffee ... Beautiful scenery, masterfully captured ... Awesome crew! Well done, again.

I love Trout Spey fishing, those aggressive takes are fantastic and you can do it on fairly small waters! Amazing video!

Great video ! Once and hopefully not last, I had the opportunity to fishing on Deschutes River, one of the most beautiful rivers I've ever fished

Beautiful photography, editing and soundtrack choice. Very evocative 10/10 !

glad to see JL got that 4x4 van he wanted for sooo long!!
He wishes!!!! He knows the owner of the company. They said he could use it anytime...
Been anticipating this one... many familiar spots, can't wait to get out again in the spring.

Love these videos. I use a CX350 and love it. You sir can tell a great story with it. Thank you

awesome video! So you cast the fy/streamer and you just let it swim into the current waiting for the fish to catch it without retriving the line after the cast, am I right?
Yes, that is one technique. All depends on the depth and movement... current flow will be the main factor of all this.
What is the name of the artist of the song? Awesome music as usual! Standing by.
Very well done. Is that a 4 wt trout spey? ... those are big trout.
4 and 5wt micro spey yes!
Beautiful wild trout. Are there browns and cutts in the deschutes or only rainbows?
Thanks. Some of the tribs have these other species, so I'd say probably yes to that question!
Cool 👍👍👍👊

Nicely done. I like the fact that he included some misses. Great illustration of the allure of fly fishing.
only thing missing from that opening coffee pour shot is some butter and MCT oil
wow!
Can I know how kind of fly rod are you used for streamer fishing ? Thank you very much in advance
Hi Giovanni, R.L. Winston Micro Spey - winstonrods.com/product/microspey-air-2/
Anyone know what coffee
pot the used in the beginning of the film?
I'll look into it and get back to you! I borrowed it from the coffee company. Please subscribe!
