I've gotten a few comments on my take on the Alessia Cara and The Warning cover. I've gone back and watched the video (I had only listened to the song before). I think my take on the second listen is that this is much stronger than I originally thought. Also, in terms of the "creepiness" factor that was lacking, this was the first song I heard and many of the bands didn't have that. Considering I was a kid when I heard the original (and saw the video, which creeped me out), there may just be a different response to elements as an adult. So, I officially state that the Alessia Cara and The Warning version of Enter Sandman is very well done. I'm not changing my view on Weezer's version though. That still sucks.

      Agree about the Weezer version.
About the Alessia & the Warning, Pau (the drummer) speaking the prayer line while doing the neck thing, is creepy enough for me hahaha
      Thanx for the guidance.

it's more a sequel. It picks up at the end of the original, Come take my hand we're off to never never land. You fall asleep and Alessia and the Warning are there to guide you out of the nightmare

Thanks for the review and the willingness to re-listen to Alessia Cara and "The Warning".

My favourite BY FAR is The Warning & Alessia Cara's rendition!!! I'm a lifelong rock and metal fan (Baby Boomer) but I've always been very open minded when it comes to music and I feel The Warning's rendition has breathed new life into a tired old classic for a new generation to take in. I absolutely love it!!!

(Caution - bad dad joke incoming) Looks like I've been warned! (I told you it was bad)
I definitely need to check them out. Seeing lots of good things about them and in my brief search of them, I realized that I saw a video they did of Enter Sandman about 7 years ago when they were kids. I remember being blown away by how good of a job they did for being so young. Once I made the connection that these were the same girls, I'm even more interested in checking them out.

I found the Alessia Cara and The Warning version to be creepier than the rest. The original, I found harder and meaner, but creepier? Not so much. It was written as a lullaby of sorts, and in the spirit of a lullaby, they opened softly, creepily, and built on it. I respectfully disagree.

Very fair. I went back and watched the video and I do think my opinion may be different now.

Great review, really enjoyed your perspectives on all I thought they were all pretty spot on, as after having listened to all of them, I agree with most descriptions and characteristics. My fave was by HA-ASH, hands down, but so many gems here.

Tim, although I am a hardcore fan of The Warning, I'm not going to bash you. I saw your pinned comment below and it also took me a couple of listens because I wasn't happy at first that Alessia was there. However, I think they did a great job, but over and above that, you should give The Warning a listen. Spector is producing a Signature Series bass in the name of their bassist. Muse posted her doing the Hysteria bass line on their FB page and it got something like 850k views in addition to the 2.5 million on YT. I think you'd be impressed. Try 'Evolve' to start.

Hey! I think your review is quite honest and it helps me a lot, thanks. Even being a big fan of The Warning I'm not upset, I respect your opinion (I see that you've seen the video and your rating is different now 😁) This album is full of good surprises and others not so much. You’ve been warned! 🤘🏻😄

Ilistened to the whole album and we're pretty much on the same page. Only thing I didn't think the TW and Alessia Caras lost the creepiness of it. If anything I thought the softer touch along with Paus prayer added to the creepiness. Definitely check out the Warning's original music. Probably the most Talented group up and coming.

I am surprised you didn't have The Warning Army coming down on you. Their version is my favorite and yes, with Alessia Cara it's a little more pop but The Warning has made it their own and if you only listened to the song and not watched the video I could see where you would say its lost it's creepiness. Watch the video and you will see the creepiness, especially with drummer Paulina's reciting the bedtime prayer. So, my recommendation is if you only listened to The Warning and didn't see the video you may change your mind a bit.

    • @TimOatesOnBass
      @TimOatesOnBass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I did only listen to it and didn't watch the video. I just went and watched the video and it is growing on me more. I think the fact that this was the very first thing I heard from the album may have been a factor as well.

@@TimOatesOnBass At first it can sound a bit too Pop, but Alessia's voice grows on me. I watched the video first and loved it, but the first time I listened only it seemed to lose something. But now that I have watched the video so many times the audio only is so much better as I have the video image in my head. My comment about The Warning Army has to do with a reaction video who kind of trashed the audio only and they got pounced on in the comments. Rightly so, as the reactioners came across arrogant. I am glad you gave the video a watch. If you have not seem more of The Warning, you should check them out. I in my early 60s and a hard rock fan for nearly 50 years and I find them to be one of the best bands out there today. Good luck to you.

Maybe , I can be wrong, but I think there is so many covers of Nothing Else Matters, because is a balad, and is more easy to take it to pop and other genre of music. The cover of The Warning and Alessia Cara, The girls of the Warning wanted to respect Alissa style, that is pop, The Warning are hard rock...so they loked for a way to mix both geners and being respectful to the Song. Sorry for My English. Greetings for México. Hugs
