Thank you! You are a legend. After doing all the feed dog & top feed adjustments on my 167 this was the problem on mine too. Who would think that rotating the nut wheel would fix the length of front & reverse stitch. It all makes sense now. Thanks again.

innovative tool improvisation! good to know this- amazing figuring all that out- this is what I hope I DONT have to find out after I find my machine! My fear is all this will happen when I get it home (in the boonies) so i want to know all I can and you are really helping- still looking at all the models you suggested- miles to go .... :) thanks!

Thank you very much, my problem was not stitch length but with the lock lever interfering with the reverse lever. You made this an easy fix. Cheers!

Hi, thank you so much for sharing this video.
I have a doubt. In the minute 3:55 you talk about putting the alternating ___ heigh adjustment in the middle.
I can't understand the part you're referring to. I have the post bed 068 and I tried yesterday to solve the same problem with the reverse stitch but regardless of what you say in this part of the video that I mention, it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance and best regards,
    Vicente

Thanks for the vid. Did you ever find out how to lengthen the max stitch via internals? I have the same problem you had at first with the reverse stitch but can't fix it with your method of turning the inner screw under the stitch lock. I've tried doing things like altering the timing of the inner foot to the needle in relation to contact with the leather but this does nothing too. I'm now thinking I may need to open it up and adjust internally like you mention in this video to retrieve your max stitch. I hope you can shed some light on the problem once more. You explain very well. Cheers

You actually have to play with the gears, there is no way around.
In the adler 69-373 manual it is the point 2.2.2 advancing movement of feed dog.
The way i did it was to try to get the longest reverse stitch possible, that is 4 or 6 mm, depending on the model of your machine, the older machines like my adler 69 have 4 mm. Than you might have to readjust the balance between forward and reverse stitch again as we have seen it in this video, but with my machine even with 4 mm max. stitch length, I can have bigger forward than reverse, that is because the lever for stitch length rests over, not in the middle or under the 0 when i have 0 stitch length. So there is more space downwards than upwards on the scale, and that causes bigger forward than reverse.
That is what I found out on my machine, the balance might not be perfect or how it is supposed to be, but at least I have my 4 mm reverse.
    Hope that helps.

Hello, can I ask what the size of the eccentric was, the diameter of it actually, somebody removed it from a machine that I recently bought and I'm trying to restore it to the specs

Thank you so much, this was exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately I am not sure if its normal that I can rotate the element with the two tiny wholes only about 2mm to each side. Thats not enough, my reverse stitch is still to long :/ Any advice?

Thanks for another great video! I'm trying to solve the same problem on my Pfaff 345 but can't find a service manual anywhere. I imagine it's the same as on a 145 or 545 but i can't find service manuals for those either. :(

Hello again! OK I tried your method and no matter where I place the eccentric cam makes no difference in stitch. I saw you set the mechanism on the rear of machine to the center of adjustment. I did not do this. Is that the problem? By rotating the cam it moves the tip of the adjustment screw from left to right where it contacts the inside part. Im not seeing how this moves the stitch length in reverse. What am I having brain-fade over here? Thx again

Does the eccentric sleeve turn 360 degrees? Mine will only rotate from 9:00 o'clock to 1:00 o'clock. I think I need to rotate it a bit more to be able to get the proper adjustment. I suspect the threads are damaged from the locking screw inside but I don't want to force it if something else is locking it in place.

Congrats! It's a great machine for sure. I'm using Enduro SM650 motors on all my machines without issue. They do need to be modified to get the best performance though. If you search youtube there are examples on how to make a "paper gradient" that works incredible well. Goodluck!

@@thesergeant3524 thanks a bunch and thank you for replying! I'm amazed at how many TH-camrs just never respond! One other question, i see your lower "thread tree" I'll call it is horizontal. Mines vertical for some reason. Should it be horizontal? Also from there the thread goes to the spring like guide. How does that path thru there? Do you have a threading tutorial? Thx.

@@thesergeant3524 Good day, I hope to be picking up an Adler 167 tomorrow. Would you be willing to share what digital info you have on this machine? It does not seem you have Messaging available, but I have added my email address to my Channel's About page.
Or even if you have any general "watch out for this" experiences with this specific machine. This will be my first industrial machine and I am only a beginner at sewing. Thank you so much for your time, videos and assistance! I have located an operator's manual, parts list, but no service manual, except maybe for the ones you mention, Model 267.

Hi, I also have a machine and have everything done as with you, the machine picks up the wire but when I start to suffocate it becomes a chaos down, it is as if the tension of the wire is not on time. Controlling the voltage with the button also does not work, if I put it low or high it stays the same. The thread is 20 and needle 134/140 from schmetz. I use Google Translator because I live in Belgium. Can you find a solution?

is it true that it is very similliar to the adler 267 in the meaning of parts and mechanic?

  • @toddabraham7724
    @toddabraham7724 3 ปีที่แล้ว

They are not suppose to match, the whole point of reversing it is to lock the thread, so the more you have in a short distance the more friction. You usually back tack on the seam allowance or skirt side or short enough on a top stich it is covered by the end seam.

Hi. Do you use a speed reducer with your servo? If so, what's our servo pulley and your reducer sizes. Love the slow.speed you can get on your 167.
    Cheers
PS used your vid to adjust my new 167. Many thanks.

+Gordon Fraser Thanks for the feedback, glad the video was of some use. No speed reducer on the machine. Just a 50mm pulley. I modified the laser light blocker to get the slow speed control.

    Dear Sir,
I type this on google translate so if there are errors in it than I regret very much .
    I hope you can understand.
The reason for this reaction is ....
I can buy that same machine today .
But there is no use in may I ask whether you have and would like to copy for me?
Then I have one question on the strap that comes with / on the machine.
Which is also missing to me only that I can buy later.
But I have to know what size that belt .
Do you know that? I would be very happy if you can help me with this .
Thank you very much in advance for reading and I hope for a response.
    Best regards Ria
