I'm in north Florida and planted my Roselle directly in July. They grew to 10' tall and 5'wide. They had so many calyxes that I have dried enough for a year from 9 plants! I found the more you pick, the more you grow but wait until the calyxes are about 2" long. I did try to eat the leaves but really sour. I will forever plant Roselle as the most giving plant ever. The tea is easy - both hot or cold is so tasty. They survived and bloomed until the first frost. The stems I finally cut off before the first frost, dried in a flower vase and I'm still looking at them. Full of seeds but also gorgeous in flower arrangements. Next year I'm going to try a wreath. No bugs, no disease and fruit that is packed with nutritioon and has way more Vitamin C that citrus! Listen to your Dad - don't plant the seeds early! I’m not going to plant my tomatoes outside until they reach about 18-24 inches tall. That’s generally what I buy at the nursery in order to ensure they will produce enough prior to our first frost. This is the first year I’ve ever tried tomatoes from seed. Can someone please tell me around how long it takes to reach that height after seeds have germinated? I’m trying to figure out when to start the seeds. Thank you!
How do you plant corn in a small space? Do you have to have a certian amount of plants in rows, or can I just plant like 10 seeds and get a harvest? Probably a stupid question, but I really don't know. Thanks for your help
Row length is not as important as row number. We recommend planting at least three rows for adequate pollination. Some folks that plant smaller plantings will also hand pollinate by shaking the tassel so that the pollen falls to the silks.
How do you guys feel about strawberries? Im in SE texas just north of Houston and there are some stores that are selling them ready for transplants but heard they dont really do well where I am. getting conflicting info. love the show and the channel, keep it up!

@@gardeningwithhoss ok I thought I had heard y’all say before you like to transplant them to get a jump on things I have a big problem with birds finding the seed once I plant them and not getting any plants so I have to

Would it have been smarter for me to leave the heat mat under my pepper starts a bit longer. I shut it off when the peppers sprouted but they seem to not be growing. They look ok, but haven't done anything now but sprout their first 2 leaves. Are they too cold?
Doesn't hurt to leave them on there until they get their second set of leaves. That's typically what we like to do, unless we're pressed for space on the heat mat.
I think your orders have increased due to several video content makers that I watch are recommending your company for ordering their seeds for this spring. Even the potato seeds. You guys are highly recommended from these individuals. 😊😊😊😊😊
How much trouble am I going to be? I planted my nightshades jan 1st. My Cherokee purples just popped up. I’ve never grown from seed before. I’m zone 8b in Central Valley California
You'll be fine. Just step them up to a bigger pot if they start to get root bound in the current cells and you're not ready for them to go in the ground.
Just depends on where you live. Onions can take temps down to 20 degrees as long as they're not sustained. So we plant in November and overwinter for an early spring harvest.
I have never grown hybrid tomatoes before but this year after watching you I ordered the bella rosa and the sun gold. Can I save seeds from these hybrids or will I have to buy new seeds each year?

I’m not going to plant my tomatoes outside until they reach about 18-24 inches tall. That’s generally what I buy at the nursery in order to ensure they will produce enough prior to our first frost. This is the first year I’ve ever tried tomatoes from seed. Can someone please tell me around how long it takes to reach that height after seeds have germinated? I’m trying to figure out when to start the seeds. Thank you!
You can probably figure about 10 weeks or so for that kind of height.
I love cukes but have had to swtch to burpless because of heartburn.
Dukes Mayo is thee best! They finally brought it to Az and I stock up every time I go to the store. I’ve never liked Mayo. But I do love duke’s Mayo.
Good stuff!
Are you folks going to setup a site on mewe ?
Not planning on it at the moment. We've got all we can handle with getting orders shipped and gettin our new building finished.
When starting tomato seeds do you recommend the 162 cell trays? Wouldn’t I have to step up my tomato starts in the smaller trays?
We plant right from the 162 trays into the ground. You can step them up if you wish, but not completely necessary.
Travis are you following Charles Dowding for no till? No cilantro please? Glad I ordered mine that will be here tomorrow.
Have watched several of his videos. He does a great job and has a beautiful garden.
How do you guys feel about strawberries? Im in SE texas just north of Houston and there are some stores that are selling them ready for transplants but heard they dont really do well where I am. getting conflicting info. love the show and the channel, keep it up!
Greg has some growing in his garden now. Hopefully he can provide an update soon.
I bought two 24 start tray. What should I start in each so when it comes time to fertilize I don’t burn them? I’m in SE Louisiana.
You could get started right now. You'll want to start fertilizing when the plants have their second set of leaves, also known as "true leaves."
Hey guys, I just happened to go to your site today looking to buy one of your 48-cell seed starting kits. The 48-cell kit and the deluxe kit are both showing "Out of stock" right now. I'm in middle GA, so I still have a few weeks before I need them for tomatoes and peppers, but I am starting to get a little nervous. Do y'all have a projected ETA on getting some more of those kits?
Waiting on more seed starting mix. There has been a shortage of that stuff since the COVID explosion early last year. We've been scrambling to just get what we can so we can build the kits.
How do wax beans compare with others as far as vitamin content goes?
Good question. They are certainly more tender, but not sure about the vitamin content.
I know when I’m gonna start mine but didn’t hear you talk about summer squash zuchinni and cucs
We direct-seed those, so they're not a part of our transplanting schedule.
@@gardeningwithhoss ok I thought I had heard y’all say before you like to transplant them to get a jump on things I have a big problem with birds finding the seed once I plant them and not getting any plants so I have to
We transplant winter squash and pumpkins, but not summer squash or cukes. You can transplant them. I know what a few folks that do.
My pea plants are turning yellow in one of my raised beds. What should I do?
Usually yellowing of leaves is one of two things -- too much water or some nutrient deficiency. Or this time of year, freezing temps can do it as well.
I was one of those people that contributed to your seed and tater rush! Got them right away to and can't wait to get started! Just waiting on my taters.🍉🍅🍆🥔🥕🌽🌶🥒🥦
Thanks for your order!
Is there a gmo corn that deer will not bother.
We do not sell any GMO seeds.
Cabbage and Broccoli are starting to make small heads so these both need to be covered from freezing temps? Supposed to freeze in north Florida Saturday night - PLEASE ADVISE 🥦
Cabbage should be fine. If the broccoli heads are small enough to be "sheltered" by the leaves, they'll be fine as well.
@@gardeningwithhoss thank you!
Thank you.
I think Danny and Wanda over at Deep South Homestead could’ve had that building done by now. 🤪
😛
I think your orders have increased due to several video content makers that I watch are recommending your company for ordering their seeds for this spring. Even the potato seeds. You guys are highly recommended from these individuals. 😊😊😊😊😊
That certainly always helps. We are very appreciative of the content creators who help spread the word about us.
I have a egg incubator and it will stay a constant temperature,if I put my seed trays in it to germinate my seed will it work
Don't see why it wouldn't as long as you keep the soil moist.
@@gardeningwithhoss it has a water tray and you can keep the humidity at 60 to 70 percent
Do you plant onion later,or have tried on later dates like now February first or second week i started some today just to see
Just depends on where you live. Onions can take temps down to 20 degrees as long as they're not sustained. So we plant in November and overwinter for an early spring harvest.
@@gardeningwithhoss I'm in the Atlanta area. I got my over winter onions just thinking about starting some now early mid February.
Always enjoy watching y’all and learning new things but I really wish you didn’t have quite so many ads. Stay Blessed y’all
Unfortunately, we can't control the ads. Thank you for watching!
@@gardeningwithhoss cool taters, just like growing a garden, you can’t control everything.
I have never grown hybrid tomatoes before but this year after watching you I ordered the bella rosa and the sun gold. Can I save seeds from these hybrids or will I have to buy new seeds each year?
You can save them, but they won't be true to variety when you plant the saved seeds. But you'll certainly enjoy the improved production!
