Paid mine off this year. 2018 Original Owner at 126k miles. Driven across the continental US and Canada a few times it's a champ. Give it 10 years, it'll be a cult classic the Neon SRT4 and 1st Gen Mazdaspeed3
I love my 17 but i cant leave a car stock, many bolt ons, custome and upgrades. Almost 63k on it, rock solid car and super fun because with some mods it punches well above its weight class. As for mods, Rear lower mount, and either a 2 point or 4 point traction bar, absolutely a bigger rear sway bar with polly bushes. If you decide to tune it do all the bolt ons. My first mod was actually making a spacer for the accelerator pedal, my second mod was short shifter and solid cable and bracket bushings, that will give you a completely different shifter feel. way better.
I came seriously dangerously close to buying one of these this month. I really wanted leather seats and a moonroof, but i couldn't find one for under $20k. My gf found a 2017 eco mustang for way cheaper and she said if im gonna drive an Ecoboost, it might as well be a mustang, and she was absolutely right about that. So i bought it, and i love it, but the focus/fiesta st still has a special place in my heart for sure.
Definitely do the rear mount. Delete the sound symposer, there's kits available for it, theyre not expensive and its easy to do. This will allow you to hear more turbo noises in the cabin. Replace the factory bypass valve with whichever blowoff or bypass valve you like. GFB is a great brand and so is Turbosmart. Both the symposer and factory bypass are made out of cheap plastic and will eventually cause boost leaks which can be really annoying to locate.
I have a 2014 ford focus st with 288,000 miles on it now. Original owner and still haven’t needed to replace the original clutch, have any engine or transmission problems. I have had to do a lot of maintenance repair work and it is starting to rust do to the salty winters around Chicago. If there is any questions you have about what I would recommend you should replace from oem or what may be issues in the future, don’t hesitate to ask
I have a 2018 st myself bought brand new in Jan 19. Still running strong at 152000+ clicks and counting thank the Maker! I just try to keep up with regular Maintenance and keep that premium fuel flowing! Had a check engine light twice due to an evap purge valve issue which is an easy fix and the part isn't expensive. One at around 75k and the other around 130k. I also decided to try my hand at wrenching so I bought a bunch of tools and replaced my own brakes and rotors and also did a trans fluid flush at the 150k mark. I also make sure to gun my baby now and then to open her up as owners of these types of cars should. If there's a nice open stretch and it's safe, OPEN HER UP! All that said, treat your cars well and they'll treat you well. Hopefully anyways! They're pretty much our modern day horses!
I also drive a completely stock 2013 ST. My car has never made that noise when I get on it and shift from 1st to 2nd. Yours almost sounds like the engine is slapping the firewall due to worn engine mounts. Also your rearview mirror is de-silvering most likely due to someone directly spraying windex on it. Spraying the mirror directly will cause the liquid to seep around the edges and onto the back silver plating causing it to slowly lift away from the glass.
@@STLife2024 that’s great to know! I’ll absolutely look into replacing the motor mounts. I’m still new to owning the car so any info I can get is fantastic. And interesting point about the mirror. I wouldn’t have thought about the liquid seeping back behind it.
I’m sure your mounts are worn a bit from the age and milage but I bought a 2013 brand new in 2012 I ordered it in the same speck u have and my engine would hit the fire wall from 1st to second under full throttle new rear lower engine mount fixed it. Car had 300 miles on it and did it. If the upper mount hasn’t been replaced I would change it with factory oem not aftermarket it will get rid a ton of vibration / rattles in the car they usually last 60k to 70k vibration free they are filled with oil

@@DanielPhillipsMiataif you grab a mountune RMM it does add some nvh, at first it is very noticeable but over time you tend to learn how to shift with it and the vibration somewhat breaks in. If you get a 2015+ stock RMM it is a tad stiffer but way more livable if you don’t like the vibration. I have had my 15 ST3 for almost 9 years now. Enjoy!
I've had my 2014 Blue ST2 for 8 years. I bought it with 12600 miles on the clock. Loved every mile in it. It is a bit of a pig in the wet. You have to respect it and be careful. But it is fun! Worst MPG Ive seen was 4 MPG! OK, OK, I was caning it.........
The rear view mirror thing is because of the heater, same idea of the mirror in the bathroom, the fluctuating temp between hot and cold after time will cause this on any mirror
The de-silvering of a bathroom mirror is not from hot or cold. The delamination is from someone directly spraying the mirror with glass cleaner causing seepage around the edges. The acids in glass cleaner will pull the silver away from the glass over time.
As ford are no longer making focus and fiesta parts are going to be hard to get in the near future, it makes owning or wanting to own one a bit of a gamble.
It absolutely blows me away that so many people are not disappointed in ford’s decision to not use an LSD in the ST. Maybe people who own them have never felt what a difference a limited slip differential makes in a front wheel drive car.
Thanks for that point, this ST is the first and only FWD car I've owned, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing what the difference would be with an LSD. What FWD cars have one, Golf GTI, Civic Si or Type R? Lmk!
@@DanielPhillipsMiata every civic si from 2006 and up came right off the show room floor with an LSD. Every single Civic type R will have an LSD as well… even going back to the EK9.
