This project was started during a very dry period in my creative life, back in July when Singapore just exited a lockdown (circuit breaker). I'm always very hesitant on buying 'toys' just to have it last a few weeks and then chucked in the corner to decay. In short, I'm glad I did this anyways. It was a great refresh to get my mind to be in tune with my body in a new way - instead of just watching youtube videos all day to gain inspiration. Lastly I realised that as I grew older, it's harder to pick up new physical activities/sports because the body gets stiffer over time but it is still definitely possible :)
loved how candid this was! came from watching your newer videos and yes churning out video ideas can be really tiring but I'm sure your audience will enjoy chill videos once in a while :D
I used to snowboard. Missed it so got me a long board. Saw your surf skate video so then I got me a surf skate and I subscribed to your channel. Fell a couple of times and still a noob. I’m enjoying it. Now my kids want to learn so I am going to get them a Penny board. 😂 Thanks for the motivation from an almost 40 y.o. 👩🏻
@@zizidor1 how r you going with it? i'm 37 and thinking of pulling the pin on a penny board too. stuck between the 22 or 27 inch board though... This video was great and very informative. Thank you for sharing!
Your Carving looks good and fluent.. Keep up the good work.. i'm 53 years old now, and i still ride my "penny".. i also have a home made "Nickel" which is 5"longer.. suits me better, because i'm 1.93 tall..
Woah this came at a really apt time! My 25 year old girlfriend just bought a skateboard yesterday and is trying to pick up the sport for fun! Not easy at this age tbh (old bones lol) but like you said, it’s all about the process and that sense of satisfaction you get when you see your progress. Never too old to try something new! Also, anyone knows whereabouts in Singapore is that area at 4:22?
Anyone know the durometer of those wheels. I have 83a penny wheels but they just feel too hard. They are brand new tho so I don't know if there's a certain "break in" process
I’m turning 30 soon and I want to pickup a new skill. I always wanted to try penny boarding but I thought it’s too late to learn for my age until I came upon this video and gave me inspiration
Much respect for the determination to improve. I tried to learn skateboarding in the past but gave up eventually. I've always wanted to master it ever since Casey Neistat made it cool to travel around with it 😅
not quite 30 yet but I’m glad you put this out :) I’m considering getting this to encourage me to go out my house more since I’m currently under lockdown… I’m so inactive at the moment as all sports are cancelled
Came here to boost some skateboarding confidence for beginners. Found some 👍💪 Any recommendations on where to get my first, cheap penny board for testing? Thanks man!
If I’m not wrong. Your right foot is heavier than your left foot. It would be easy for you to balance if you put right foot first and push with the left foot😁👍
Just got myself a cruiserboard and god i wished there were isolated areas that had good concrete near me 😫 a majority of them are filled with middle schoolers and toddlers
Hey! I m almost 30. Having hard period in my creative work. And guess what? I bought a "penny" board today 😄 Thank u for such an inspiring and beautiful video 🌻
😅 still waiting for my penny board, was thinking am I too old to pick up skateboarding? It's a relief to know we are never too old for anything, as long as we keep practicing we will eventually get the hang of it. Stumble upon your content as I was looking at how to ride a penny board. Great vlog 👍keep it up man.
It’s more recommended to hold onto something when getting onto the board for the first time so u can get used to how it feels. Overtime, u will get used to it and u don’t have to hold it anymore (this is what I did)
Picked up a penny board after this video! Soon upgraded to 2nd hand Cruiser then to my very own Longboard from ThaneLife Singapore! Hahaha want to try snowboarding soon! Thank you Shawne!!
Are there many empty car park rooftops in SG? Seems like a really nice and scenic place to practice :) As someone who has family in Malaysia and Singapore, Subbed!
Tommorow was the first time riding a penny board like i was MAMAAAA!! I keep shouting lol but luckyly my friends held me not to fall when its my first time i feel like my soul is coming out of my body but yet i didnt fail i learned how to ride it well thx to my friends helping me not to get scared even tho they were the one thats scared
It’s never too young or too old to start something new. You got it man!

Also, I'm 46 and only started skating last year. I'm loving it, though!
I like where this 30-year old series is going, as a fellow 30year old man 😂
😂🙌🏻

I’m 29 and just dislocated my wrist and broke my arm 😅
You look 18 rather than 30, and I love that

Thanks for this, it came at the right timing 🙏🏻
Thanks for this encouraging vlog, Shawne! I also just bought one skateboard from Decathlon for my birthday and I can’t wait to try learning it too! :)
Naise! Have fun with it man 🤙🏻
Nice video! Hope to see you along Pelton Canal. i'm 47 this year and also just started skateboarding recently.

Can’t believe this is 2 years ago this quality and content and editing is too good bro much appreciated from Thailand 🇹🇭

Skateboard tricks are really tough, but cruising/riding is just more about balance and confidence. You can give it go again :)👌🏻
I used to run the MBS route weekly, it's a really nice stretch of road. Love the sunset shot as well.
really appreciate the high quality and content you are putting out!
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Cool visuals n music! So humble n so encouraging, thank you!
Amazing transitions brooooo! DAMN IMPRESSED WITH YOU SKATING AND FILMING W THAT SMALL REMOTE?! Controlling the drone?!
Thanks brudda! ITS NOT A DRONE HAHA I used a 360 cam (GoPro Max) so it'll hide the selfie stick!

What inch is your penny board
how did you shoot the video at 5:50 ? invisible stick?
I shot it on the GoPro 360 cam, which will hide the selfie stick
@@shawneydepp thanks for the reply!
It looks like Singapore has some good skating spots.
This made me dig out my penny board which hasn't been used in a while 😂also could this potentially be a new series?!
If I’m not wrong. Your right foot is heavier than your left foot. It would be easy for you to balance if you put right foot first and push with the left foot😁👍
That city looks beautiful
I’m from Singapore, and I recently moved to the USA. Miss the place. I remember decathlon had lots of cool things…Anyway, loved the video.
hi shawn i live in sg.. whats the maximum weigth that the board can take it?
How did you get the 7:27 shot without showing the selfie pole?
I used a 360 cam from gopro, which will be able to conceal the selfie stick
Thanks man you make me wanna try out new stuff too!
Awesome video ! 🎉 Are the wheels good? Is it easy to glide over rough roads? 😅😊
Nope the wheels are a pretty small on this one so they don’t do well on rough roads
More skating session soon! 😜
YAS!
Just got myself a cruiserboard and god i wished there were isolated areas that had good concrete near me 😫 a majority of them are filled with middle schoolers and toddlers
Find the nearest multi-storey carpark. It’s the best place for practice!

Is it legal to skate on the pavement in Singapore? Don’t see a lot of people skating around with a penny board in sg
From what I know, it is legal. I think it just comes down to personal preference
where did u get your pennyboard ?
