    Love this idea, going to change the one I'm working on at the moment, as it is the same, too bulky. Thank you for the tip.

    Just came across this! I think you have just invented a great method... and hey!! you can make your threads lay flat alongside each other - no twisting! Yay!

    Hi, further to my reply earlier, I'm doing Jungle Kitty by Paine Free Charts, it's great, even the stitches fall better, no bulk. Thank you.

    I think you've come up with a good compromise that will allow you to finish your pattern without causing you any stress. I am a cross-country stitcher when it comes to full coverage pieces. I do not like parking at all. I hate having all those threads hanging around. That stresses me out lol. So I will keep with cross-country! Thanks for sharing your idea! Take care & happy stitching!

    I love your compramise but if i was doing this I would take those double strands and park them in different places eg one in the square below and one in the square accross then you wouldn’t have to cut it off and you would have another thread parked and ready to go.

    I am a beginner in cross stitching. Well, I did cross stitching over twenty years ago and then I had a break. Now I would say I return as a beginner because a lot has changed in cross stitching 😊 Your film is very helpful. Good to know how to handle some problems I can face. Thanks 😊

    I dont know if this makes sense but...when using yarn and crocheting,the darker yarns feel thicker due to the dyes. And when I'm cross stitching and using whites and pastel or lighter shades the floss seems thinner. Your whole chart is dark primary colors mostly and so the floss is also going to be a bit thicker due to the dyes. That might be why its bothering you using 2 strands tent stitch on THIS project but your enjoying other projects done this same way....the colors might be lighter on the projects your enjoying. Love your compromise that you came up with so you can continue finishing this beautiful piece.

    I started this chart after I watched how beautifully it was coming along. I started on 25 count as well because I thought maybe just plain white easy grid may work better. I know when fabric is dyed it shrinks the holes. So my thought was since I absolutely love the coverage you were getting that I would try tent stitch on the easy grid and see if the bulk was any less. Well it was still very bulky so I did a little more and set it to the side for a while. What I came up with this weekend is to do it on 16 count aida. The chart gives sizes for 14, 16 and 18 count if Im not mistaken so I gave it some thought and I decided to try the 16 count. This way I can do full cross which will take longer but I love the coverage and I dont want the bulk. I cant do tent stitch on 16 count I dont believe. I will see how this goes after I buy the fabric and grid it. Hopefully it will work. At least I hope it will.

    Good job figuring out how to continue with the beautiful chart. I would not start over either. Again, good 👍 job.

    Great alternative! I am a parker too and I am experiencing a lot of confetti’s too in my Quarantine Cats from B. Ashwood. However I am parking by block of 10 and that decreased the bulky threads a lot! That might be an option too to investigate ☺️ Love from Brussels 🇧🇪

    Thank you for some useful things to consider. I have just purchased regular size misty melody max colour by haed. 😂 I am thinking 2over1 on 18 count. I want to enjoy the colours. I am usually happy with coverage on 18 count

    Hi! I have different thought about your doing single stand twice. I think it is a great idea, by the way. You may NOT take twice as long to stitch this way - for two different reasons - 1. it’s easier to stitch with one thread, and I’m making my stitches almost twice as fast than with two threads. 2. you won’t have to fight as much with your one-stranded parked threads. And, of course, if you enjoy it more, you will make better progress. I look forward to seeing what you think after doing it a while!! I’m not a “parker”; I love cross country, having learned to do it 15 years ago on printed patterns, and perfected it. (And I wouldn’t give up Pattern Keeper for anything!!). You are giving me ideas about how I might be able to do my version of parking sometime, though. I discovered you channel on my TH-cam feed about a month ago, and I enjoy what you do so much.

    Very nice option. I have a hard time starting new projects because there is that stress of "how will the coverage be, how will I like working on this, will the scroll frame/hoop/qsnap feel good, etc, etc" and nice to see options.

    I’m extremely interested in trying this. I stitch 1x1 full cross and I was trying to think of a way to do a tent stitch with 1 strand!

  • @rosebrandt6264

    This was very interesting, glad to know about this option. I had this problem on my first project and ended up starting over, but I wasn't that far into it, maybe 4-5K stitches iiirc. Anyway I think if this were my canvas I would have more distortion with this new method, but it looks like your stitch tension is very even and smooth--wish I could do that consistently :). So that might not be a problem for you.

    • @TheStitchyWitch
      @TheStitchyWitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. So far I have never had tension problems so thanks for mentioning it because it does affect some people.

    I think the main reason being so bulky is because of the confetti. When I stitch some lonely ninja stitches, I stitch with one strand and then stitch over one more time to avoid the bulkyness (like how you stitch here). I thought I'm the only one to think like that. Good luck to your change.

    Hi. I am getting ready to do my first full coverage and watching all kinds videos to see how diff people do it. Blocks, diagonal,full cross,tent stitch,etc. I think your solution makes sense. It appears you are parking the threads just somewhere below, but not in the hole where that colour would go next?? I don t have pattern keeper as my IPAD is not an Android, although I think would use if I I could.
    I have enjoyed watching your video today and have loved the pattern you chose. Lots of eye candy! 🇨🇦greetings

    Did you ever finish this? How did it turn out with changing how you stitch it?

  • @LidiasLeisurelyStitching
    @LidiasLeisurelyStitching 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It'll only take twice as long going over each stitch twice if you were working on it as frequently before making the change! 😉 It sounds like you are enjoying it much more now, and thus will bring it out more frequently, so it really won't take twice as long. Happy stitching!

    I’m having the same problem with a HAED, Hidden Harbor. I commonly have 6-8 different colors in a row of 10. I like your solution! How are you starting your single strand threads? I find it really hard to use a pin stitch on 25 count.

    • @TheStitchyWitch

      It was a short thread so rather than cut it, I finished it, and choose one strand the next time with that colour.
