  • Watch part 1 to see how we drove from Barskoon to the village of Yshtyk through three mountain passes and several zones of alpine tundra. Most likely, the river is passable for vehicles with high clearance. But we didn't have enough time to explore the ford.
In part 2 we show our route from the Ak-Shyyrak River near the village of Yshtyk back to the Barskoon Pass, including a stop at the Jashilkul lakes.
Travel time from Karakol and back: about 11 hours (6:40 - 17:30).
Total stopover time: less than 1 hour.
    Gasoline consumed: about 80 liters.
Gasoline consumption: from 13.8 liters per 100 km (on the highway) to 17.5 liters per 100 km (in the mountains at an altitude of 3500-4000 m).
    GSM signal: nowhere
The most difficult sections of the road: a worn-out, very rarely used dirt road in front of the village of Yshtyk after the fork with the road to Ak-Shyyrak - clayey soil with serious roughness and gullies.
    Route map: maps.app.goo.g...
To travel the entire route you need permission to enter the Ak-Shyyrak border zone.
