Mini only has the original filter. The subsequent FS version had both which is great. The revision is much quieter which really helps with some patches. Feeding the synth back into itself is wonderful as well.
You guys seriously need to 'fathom out' that patch bay! Come on now, so many great features are tucked away in there. Sure the filters are great on the MS-20 but it's the gentle balancing act of everything else as well that makes a great MS-20 sound in my opinion.
I tried one of the mini's in my local store after buying a Sub37 and a Korg ARP Odyssey and I had to stop myself from getting this at the time as I had to curb the GAS for mono synths. Needless to say I'm going to get an MS20 Mini as it has certain character and effects that I want. It's a great synth
Love Will/Goldfrapp. I always associate the greatness of the MS20 with Robert Gorl(DAF). Sooo blown away how Robert milked the shit out of the 20, getting an amazing variety of sounds out of it. Der Mussolini bass line....... so iconic.

I don’t think you can switch filters on the Mini, I think it was a later version of the desktop kit MS20 - don’t quote me but I looked into it and was told the Mini doesn’t have the other filter boot option
I love my MS20 mini so much. It was my 1st analog synth. The filters are just fantastic. Currently, i have the headphone out -> ESP amp -> Total. It screams with resonance added and a sweep of the filter cutoff. Then plug that into my new Erica Pico DSP module for some great reverb or delay. Also, the patch bay is fun though it definitely shows its age since modern synths have these features as a button now. eg. Square LFO outout, pink/white noise, inverted EG, etc. I sometimes use the LFO for modular gear because the wave morphs and that is always fun. The size of the MS20 is totally deceiving, it does a lot.
Wtf? How are you so lazy, guys??? I have been using MS20s (plural: I probably bought all of its avatars since my first one in 78) and I have always used EXTENSiVELY it's patch bay including its VC converter and envelope follower, it's absolutely a must and very versatile option - all the more since the mod wheel and trig button are not connected by default! So, having any Korg MS series synth and not try to use their patch bay seems to me like having a vcs3 and forget it's pin matrix!!!
It's an awesome sounding synth with lots of character. It's been also used extensively on Royksopp's records and it really shines there.
Patching the pink noise through the ESP and patching that as the input for the sample and hold is loads of fun when using the ESP filters on the noise

Thanks. Will Gregory is a synth hero.

instablaster...
I loved my old MS-20 back in 1980'ish.
Sadly my basses were stolen in 1982 and I had to sell the Korg to get a new bass, my main instrument ...
Great video. Got me to take the MS-20 Mini down from the shelf and have a bit of fun with it and the Korg mini-KP.

The Benny Hill of synths. Lol! Nice stuff. I'm a Korg-head myself. Love my MS2000!!!
That weird synth lead in Lovely Head is amazing. I always thought that was some sort of Theremin-like thing.
Came for the Pulse Width comment, LOL .....PWM Nick delivered!

switching filters was available on new full size ms20 and the desktop, not mini
OGASI ok yeah! That’s what I thought ! Thanks for confirming!
YES, awful shame the mini didn't have the functionality built in but for 300 quid it is still a wicked little clone
Very cool. Peace Christo 👽

close the hipass filter just a tad and set the resonance to max.

i mean really! how can you own this for decades and not understand the patchbay? It's a lil weird but it's not THAT weird.
Yeah, it takes only a month or so to suss out...
I hate that MS 20 filter. I love 12dB OB-X filter. It may be useful o some people, but for me this is just Korg crap.
