Amen. And she doesn’t even look THAT bad. But I must say it’s weird - I have met her and she looks way better than in this, even though she is not a super model. The stage director and the team had no clue what to do. Or maybe they disliked her and did that look on purpose?

I watched this on BBC 2 and recorded it on VHS when I was a student (then resident in England), then saw live during the ROH refurbishment period the following year (I think at the Shaftesbury Theatre). Brings back memories! Pity this elegant production (costumes by Armani, if I'm not mistaken) hasn't yet been made available on DVD
Definitely one of the best Fiordiligis and Ferrandos, but what is UP with the costumes?! Was the wig dept on strike?! I'm almost starting to think the production design team HATED Soile Isokoski; otherwise, they couldn't have made her look THIS UNFLATTERING!!! They made her look like one of the US first ladies, Nancy Reagan or somebody just as homely. Oh my!
True! I’ve met her personally a few years ago and she looked 10 times better than here. And it was a small concert - she was looking quite natural and probably had done the make up herself.
she is a good singer---heard her a few years ago in faust at the met. i was just a teenager and she had on a wig and she looked like she was about twenty. and then this...wow! how does rainer trost even act like he cares? give me susan chilcott again please..

Trost is a VERY good tenor. Love his voice and musicality. Fiordi is fine too. What a scene ! Prodigious Wolfgang.
