In-Store lighting appears as if it was meant for you to choose the wrong shade of every item on the shelves.😩 It has been a very real struggle since the late eighties. Wonderful tutorial and one that can be trusted.
@@Ohemaa girl that’s an understatement. Many years ago as I was having my makeup done (with purchase) from Saks Fifth Avenue. The artist as we called them instructed me to always go out in to the element. What I’ve noticed also is the ‘Shade Twin’ doesn’t always work, for the most part it can and does but not always.
Thank you for stating choosing a concealer within 1 shade of the foundation. It drove me crazy seeing YTubers & so many ladies around me with "reverse" raccoon eyes. The shade contrast was so large between the foundation & concealer shades (also persistence on using yellow/beige undertone (another thing) of the concealer. The early 2000s had ladies baking with yellow powder on top of the too light concealer had me shaking my head all the time at those who followed that aesthetic. I'm sure there are throwback photos with all the flashback😂 Glad that ended😅
Professor Ohemaa is giving us some amazing tips! Makeup 101 in full effect!! Go head Ohemaa!! God's blessings shower down on you, your family, and your brand continually in abundance 💜☦🕊🥰💖
This is the type of long form content I love to see ❤ My complexion and skin type changes with the weather. Plus, I struggle with ance and hyperpigmentation. I own sooo much foundation and concealers and none of them are a perfect match 😅
"You can walk into MAC" only if after walking in they will help you this year. MAC notorious for not helping you if you are standing there asking for help.
@@Ohemaa 😅 hehehe I’ll take that as a sign and ask 2 things: 1. Could you give a couple examples of products that would be a better match for dry or oily skin 2. if you can maybe teach us how to do a simple everyday (with the minimal amount of products because I don’t want to have a ton of products I won’t use more than 2/3 times as a newbie) that could be easily be done by someone with no experience or knowledge 😅😅😅 and how could we spin it into a event kind of makeup (such as guest wedding or night out) I know I’m kind of pushing it but I would very very very much appreciate ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, I get samples until I feel one shade works for me. And I tell the associates I match to my chest not my neck, which of course is darker like for a lot of us. That tool they use is not always right so I swatch around it as well. Helpful tips.
For real sis dark skin makeup is definitely more complex. There are things we need to be aware of when buying makeup otherwise our finished look will come out looking off.
I'm a make up artist with unfortunately very little experience of working on deeper skin shades. (Just because of where I live) This video is so educational - thank you for posting it! I know I may not be your target audience but I want to do better as an mua and help customers find their right shades
On that note, would you say that finding your undertone is the same as it is with lighter shades? Do you have videos on that? Most undertone videos are with people of not too deep skin colours :(
Ive been using sunlight to judge my makeup since 2006...didnt realize a professional would recommend that too❤❤❤❤ btw i came looking for how to apply setting powder and searched "setting powder ohemaa"❤❤❤❤

In store lights have set me up for failure so much.

Hey yyyy!!!!!!💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾❤
I'm nc44 and have struggled to find shades over the years. Everything is always orange on me 😑
You still see a grey cast with the white colourless powder...
Ya skin naturally looks red tho i dont like that dark color on you i feel like u can make that reddish one work
Women this dark don’t need to wear any foundation. All you need is translucent, setting powder and lipstick.
“Because I’m dark skinned. Every color looks good on me!” BARS. (And same! 🖤🤎)
