Be aware that some of these "free service dogs" for veterans require you to raise the $30k through donations for the cost of the dog. There are those out there that gift the service dog for truly free. I was fortunate to have had my PSD gifted to me. I looked at several of these agencies when I was looking for a PSD.
Man O man; those dogs! My girlfriend is bi-polar; when she hits the lows her little dog will behave differently then usual; doing goofy things. Usually untill she laughs. Then he will cuddle up against her where she'll start petting him; and she'll have her lost beautiful smile on her face! It's amazing and when I witness it it warms my heart as well! Dogs deserve more ❤️ back then they get!
when i was going through drug rehab the VA let us volunteer to train service dogs and it was the one of the most fun moments of my life! as a vet it was so fun getting to bond with the dogs while also knowing that bond would eventually carry on to other fellow vets that had been through way worse things than i ever did
The wait time for service dogs is nearly a year with some organizations. Others want you to take a 21 day retreat with the dog. These organizations are exploitative of the goodwill belonging to the veterans and the dogs.
You can reach out to some groups in your state, many help train and place service dogs. I suggest asking as many as you can, many have waiting lists. I worked with a rescue foundation and their trainers to train my dog mostly at home since I’ve trained dogs before. It depends on your situation, but I wish you the best in your search. Thank you for your service!
@@atyourservicedog oOOmg are you foreal!! I’ve been wanting a service dog for some time now. I just now got a therapist through the VA but A service dog would really help a lot with my emotional state
@@blissbabyy Yes! It will take some research to find places to help, but just call all of them and explain your situation and needs. I went through a Rottweiler rescue who had excellent trainers. They really knew the breed and helped me find the best candidate, that’s one of the most important decisions. Get a trainers help to make sure you select a dog that the best chance to complete training, and they can work with you through the whole process. Even program trained dogs need lots of in home training to keep them sharp. Best of luck!
Meanwhile those like myself with Severe CPTSD because of our governments foster care system and public school bullies, I also have severe Hypoglycemia and needed a $27,000 Service Dog and yet no government help nor aid for civilians like me, and if you can't work full-time and on disability because of it you can't raise money on GoFundMe as it's seen as you are making money for yourself and counts against your SSI/SSDI and so you have no help by the very government who f## you up and over as a child, teen and then I'm failing you in justice system because of a Domestic Abuse ex. No you have to come up with the money or you don't get a Service Dog, and many Service Dog Facilities as I have found are prejudice to single civillan women who live alone on disability in need of a service dog. They think your incapable, they think you have no safety net, your not ready or if you have an EMS Task Trained Dog at home , they don't think you need a Service Dog for when out and about. My faith in our rotten double standard preferential treatment for the need of a Service Dog aid from government disgusts me to no end. They cause the misery and hell in their foster care system and public schools and when someone needs a Service Dog because of that they won't step up and do right, they won't offer anything to help you unless you served.
Hey I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this and if I can help you or someone in a position similar to yours I will no hesitation, I can kinda feel similar feelings to you when the government fed us up I was in the military I have to fight tooth and nail to get basic shit I haven’t even been asked about a sd at all I have to find most of this out myself so I don’t necessarily know you’re trauma but I definitely know your abuser our wonderful government
@eboston7591 And? Not all disabled people are able to train their own, and the wash out rate is up to 80%. It is still discrimination for disabled veterans to get 90% of the dogs, when they are 3% of the disabled population.
Y'all are doing a great thing to help our veterans thank you 🙏

🤔🥺😪😪😪😪😪 Could you be anymore self consumed?! This isn't about you.
You can do the training yourself! It’s a lot of work, but worth it!
You're professionally poor.get over it.
Esa are not task trained.
Yes, and other disabled people with the exact same diagnosis get nothing.

What kind of a negitive whiny idiotic post was that?!
