    Love my KA-5700. I bought it new in 1983 and have been using it ever since! One of the most dependable piece of electronics I've owned. Still great sound and good looks.

    I bought a KA-5700 in the mid 70s (don't remember the exact year but 1975 or 76 most likely). It was my primary stereo amp through the 70s and 80s and got heavy use. I upgraded in the 90s but still use the KA5700 as secondary amp stereo.
    However, recently, the right channel has been acting up. Touching the volume knob can make the sound come or go from right speaker. My amp is about 45 years old, so I can't complain.

      Hi there, the symptom you describe points to dirty control knobs...just get some deoxit and spray all knobs and you will be back in business...hopes this helps.

      @@suckerforvintageaudio9449 ---I will try that, thanks. I was reading up on the 5700 and saw that it was first manufactured in 1978. I recall buying mine a couple years before that, but it's been awhile. Memory may be rusty.

      @@suckerforvintageaudio9449 --Your suggestion worked. I applied deoxit to volume knob (and all other knobs for that matter) and the scratching from right speaker stopped. Man, I can't thank you enough.

      Hi there! I used the same one that you use for Marantz. I got them on EBay. The only thing with this unit is that you will have to solder the bulb, but it works fine. Let me know how it goes.

    Whar are the best wattage speakers to pair up this amp with?

    • @suckerforvintageaudio9449
      @suckerforvintageaudio9449 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the amp is only 40/WPC...I would say: Pioneer HPM40 or HPM60 will do a great jb. I remember running the amp with my Dynaco A25 and I really heard it sing. If you have different speakers, try them all and see which one does best. Let me know how it goes. BTW, I have a video of my Dynaco speakers in my channel, please check them out. They are really hard to find, so if you can get them, you will be very happy! 🙂

      Check Mouser Electronics...if you can't find it there, then post a question on Audio Karma and some of the gurus there will help you find your way to an enjoyable unit. I hope this help. Let me know what you find out, thanks.
