I am 63 and have been going to a ninja gym here. Doing some parkour, shoulder roll and some handstand haven't mastered these yet and cartwheels. Love tumbling, now such thing as too old
Hey there, I'm sure you get all kinds of requests. But I would love to see more into to gymnastics videos for adults. I want to start practicing/learning but there's no where local I can go that has adult classes. Thanks for this!
I've started tumbling at 23 just before covid-19 came in. Now without a gym i kept training on grass for about one year. Now i really want to improve myself and i will find one for higher level skills. And these foundation you showed are really really cool. Thanks🙏
I'm returning to this at 27! I used to get teased at primary school when I did handstands for having fat legs, so I never tried again. Eeeep! It'll be liberating when I get it right.
I’m fresh out of college and was really missing gymnastics club, this is exactly what I was looking for; it’s identical to the warmup we did in the club! Thanks for the video😁
I have always loved tumbling! Now at 30 I thought it was too late. I'm glad to come across this channel. I'll do these and and see how far I can get. My flexibility is still good. I'm just fearful.
Would love to see follow up targeting safety and seeing moves in slow motion. I am not sofisticated enough to see all moves in a tumble. Your channel is what I have been looking for. Thank you.
I was in tumbling for years as a kid. I have always wanted to get back into it but they don't have adult tumbling/gymnastics classes where I'm from. I'm definitely not as in shape at 22 as I was when I was 10 or 11 but this was fun!
I am having so much fun with these drills-thanks for explaining what each is for . I'm feeling great after doing it . Skipping a couple of the things towards the end that are beyond what I can currently do , but I love the way I feel. Im 62. Even just the fuzzy furry animal warm up is a great start - for me so thank you .
I was in gymnastics and cheer when I was little but stopped doing it by the time I was in junior high. Now I am in college and want to do cheer again, but I don't have the money or space to practice doing jumps and flips like other youtube videos. Thank you so much for this video!
This is great! Good tutorial. I use most of these in my own adult tumbling classes online. You are a great example of what can be achieved even starting as an adult
great video, dont laugh just comming up on the big 60 and grandaughter 6 has just started gymnastics and inspired me to give it a go, im not your normal granddad never done any gymnastics but 40 years ago did karate so developed flexability and core. just started training more bodyweight exercises than weights, only one in my gym that can do sets of L sit pull ups lol age is just a number ,moving to a different training direction now really looking forward to the next couple of years to see how far i can get
Gosh I haven't did gym since I was 14 and I was trying to remember all the exercises we did for tumbling, and once I started seeing you do it I was like "OOOOOOOH YEAH THAT" thank you for this! It makes me less overwhelmed that I see all the workouts we did all in this video
I'm 25 and have been in an adult gymnastics class for a few months. I've been stuck at a back bend kick over and don't have enough power for a front flip on the rod floor. Gonna get back to basics today ☺️ it'll be fun to not fail for a while lol
im wanting to get into cheer at my school and i have zero experience and im not athletic at all, so im preparing for the tumbling part and this is so helpful!!
Tyson, this is the best intro to tumbling on the Web. I appreciate the fact that you put tumbling into its rightful context -- as fundamental human movement that has endless applications. I'm in my mid-thirties and I've dabbled in pretty much every kind of fitness approach, from long-distance endurance to CrossFit to outdoor sports; hands down, tumbling (and basic gymnastics) has yielded the largest return on my quality of life, my athleticism, and my overall enjoyment of training. Tumbling will remain my focus for years to come, if not the rest of my life. Thank you so much for providing such a great foundation of information and context for us adults to get started!
I'm trying to go back to basics and relearn how to tumble. It is discouraging sometimes how much harder it is when it used to be so effortless. I can still cartwheel, handstand, and do back handsprings on the track. Not able to do much else though but I hope that I can get back into the shape I was in 5 years ago. I just hope it's still possible, I'm 29.
Lots of great function training in your video. I remember some of this from my tumbling days and also Muay Thai warm ups. Thank you for breaking this down for us! I missed tumbling. With your videos, even at my age I think I can get back at least some of it!
I get a lot from your videos Tyson, particularly this one and now use all these movements in my training. I really struggle with the roundoff (seen your good video) though and not quite worked out why. Maybe it's because I started it at 64 years. 66 now and really want to connect RO with BHS and back salto. Always looking for new ideas on this. Look fwd to more ofvyour content.
Hey Peter! Thanks for the kind words :) Round off, let alone the back handspring and back tuck are quite advanced skills given the context here. It takes a lot of practice, staying healthy and understanding what adjustments to make. Sounds like you'd benefit from some practice on a long tramp or airtrack but that is just a general assumption as I don't know your training BG at all. Good luck with it! I'm going to do another version of this vid so keep a look out!
Great video Tyson! I like your well rounded training philosophy and that you make these videos trivial for everybody. Looking forward to the next progressions!
Thanks, I don't tumble but this definitely helps with tricking and freerunning. I was wondering if you knew any drills I could do to increase my twisting speed for fulls and dubs ?
Hey, yeah a good one is bouncing off your back on a trampoline (as in learning to bounce off of your back). Once you can bounce from your back you work in a 360 rotation so you go BOUNCE FROM BACK > 360 SPIN (then 720 etc) > LAND ON BACK. It takes some practice to develop the aerial awareness to stay on axis and twist but it's a great one for practicing twisting without going upside down.
Hey Tyson; love the video. Im wanting to start beginners adult gymnastics once restrictions end. I can so these drill while i wait for classes to open. Q: im 40, low body fat; toned; do yoga occasionally; but have a few old injuries like; a sprained ankle form 10 years ago; torn miniscus from 2 years ago; and an old wrist overuse strain. Do think because of these injuries I should forget about doing tumble; or if Im careful, do you think I can do tumble and manage the injuries? Im guessing you’re not a medical professional; so just after your anecdotal opinion. Thanks from Melbourne!!!!!
Definitely wouldn't forget about it. I think if you're careful and incorporate mobility work (yoga should help to) or tight/problem areas you'll have a great time. Think of the saying "your eyes were bigger than your stomach" when someone eats more than they should have and now they're sick. Apply that logic to training where you don't want to push yourself over the edge (for example, don't go for front flips and back tucks before you could do this workout with control). Aim for incremental improvements whilst managing the bigger picture (health of the body) and you should have a great time.
Tyson, with the cartwheel, try to push your legs to the ceiling and the lower back and straight legs will come. Also, back rolls should have your hands turned in and arms straight, which allows for the push up through handstand (landing in front support) and to handstand. 🙂
Hey guys! Thanks for watching :) Workout (with sets and reps) is in the description.
M
Could you please do a part 2 for this? What moves could you move on from after these? :)
I can do kartwheels and roundoffs but I can't do splits,I am not flexible,I wish if I was flexible

Just released one on the round off, hope it helps!
Fantastic to see Glenn Maxwell giving back like this

Me too on the 27 thing. A date of mine taught me to headstand. And now I can't stop just want to improve
Have just started an adults gynastics class at the age of 36, first time I've ever done gynastics. Loved this video, super helpful!!!
That duck walk seems like a nightmare for the knees

I have no flexibility, but I am willing to try it.
So, how's it going?

My six year old saw your video and was like, “I wanna be like just like him!” So far, so good 😊
Ilove how you break this down into bite sized steps. I would LOVE to see a next steps video! Follow up!
The bouncing bear looks like it’s really useful! Great video

This is awesome!!! Super helpful during lockdown!
Great video thanks
Thanks mate! Love the animal walks! You've got some there that I've never seen before. Keep up the great work!
Can you come open a gym out here on Maui! Haha I grew up tumbling and am dying to get back into it

Def still possible
I seem to be making progress!!! I'm hopeful.
@@TysonE is it still possible at forty?
@@allstar1419 Sure is👍
Your form is very good and natural
This is great! Look forward to the next video 👍🏼
Thank you for this!! Definitely gonna help me on my tumbling journey
Wow! Thank!!!
Awesome video man! This is seems like an excellent place to start for adults.
Great! Really liking these workout and tutorials lately.
Amazing video I thank you
You’re welcome!

great workout it helped me so much :)
great video
Wow
Great video Tyson! I like your well rounded training philosophy and that you make these videos trivial for everybody. Looking forward to the next progressions!
"trivial" means unimportant or small. It's kind of insulting to call somebody's work "trivial". Maybe you mean accessible?

what else is used for floor gymnastics apart from tumbling ? Aerials?
Floor routines contain a mix of tumbling, strength and flexibility. Don't think you'll see an aerial in men's artistic gymnastics.
Is that queen's park in Sydney? Omg
No, this is on central coast.
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR LEGS STRAIGHT
Flex the quads and point the toes.
you need strong Tibialis (shins). Look up ATG Tibialis raise
Lol low impact stretches you'll love.
The first one hurts me knees so bad it makes me cry xD
Great video! I want to do this workout but can it be done wearing shoes or is that less effective?
You can wear shoes 👍
What’s the song you used for this
I'm 18. Can I become a pro tumbler? I'm gonna join tumbling class too but before that I'll follow this workout!
Depends how you define pro but you can definitely make some big time progress if you are consistent.
thanks
opens up google map:
I did it anyway
I don’t think I am ready to be a beginner yet.😂
😆 maybe i need to do an easier variation
My body is heavy 😢i feel i cant do it
Minutes 8:55 it seems so easy for you but as a beginner it is almost impossible for me
😀

Everything iz beginner friendly except the handstands heh heh
Hello
Hey.
I think many adults will struggle with the duck walks and kangaroos. Simply too much knee bend.
😿💔
*watches knowing I will never do this
Now you HAVE to try it ;)
Great video
