  • The Stif Squatch frame has been hanging on the workshop wall for way too long, but I've finally got the kit I was after to build the bright pink, punk geometry frame into something really special. So get a brew and a biscuit, follow me through the build and then let me know in the comments whether you love it or hate it!

    I used to use Stif back in the day when it was a tiny shop at the end of a cobbled cul de sac

    Great video, love watching the build process and the explanations for choosing each component, really makes for an immersive involved experience. Wicked wicked bike, looking forward to the live ride review 👍

    Love my v1 squatch. Glorious frame, adore the look and feel. Have used it against it's warranty as a commuter and bike packing rig, and as intended to break my collarbone.
    Only nit picks are: the brake mount and bb were not faced before delivery, and I would love more bottle cage mounts.

    I just built a Pipedream Moxie Mk3 in their awesome vivid pink colour. This here has the exact same vibes! But damn that's a lot of fine Hope Tech stuff! Do you have a comparison between the Tech4 E4 and XCR E4 already? Been using the v4 on 2 bikes and an e4 lately on my new druidv2. Absolutely loving those brakes. Does the XCR e4 have similar stopping power as the tech4 e4?

    Lovely build!
    You can get Matchmakers for Sram and Hope XCR brakes i have them on mine as running an XO mechanical shifter and One Up dropper lever on one.
    As far as i am aware its the same as the Tech 3 one as remember moving it across.
    Maybe the size of the Sram Transmission shifter interferes with it though?
    I am running the XCR lever with the 4 pot on the front.
    Not sure if its on there website yet but Hope will sell you just the XCR 4 pot caliper if you already have a set of XCR brakes which makes it cheaper! Thats what i did! 👍

    80mm BB drop!?!?! No thanks. Only if you want to get ejected off of your bike when you hit a rock or root. I wish frame manufacturers would stop this madness.

    • @Phonophobia
      @Phonophobia หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have you ridden it? Also it's measured in sag so it's more like 65-70ish static.
      For me it rides fantastic, defo not for everyone tho.

      @@Phonophobia if I just said “no thanks”above, then why would I have ridden it? if that’s your thing great. I’d rather not take the chance of hitting my pedals.

    • @Phonophobia
      @Phonophobia หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@edlorenz1552 Because you're judging something off a thing in your brain and you have no experience in riding it. I haven't been ejected off a rock. I didn't hit more roots than on any other bike. My XTR cranks looked fabulous on that bike, even after about a year of riding and around 2-3000km. And again, it's sagged, not static.
      You can make your assumptions but don't rule something out because of something you haven't experienced yet.

    • @edlorenz1552
      @edlorenz1552 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Phonophobia Where does it say on the site or geo chart the numbers are sagged? If you have one, and you like a low BB, because you think it helps you "rail" corners, then you do you. I'll stick with my Pole Taival with a higher BB, longer wheelbase, and higher stack that works better for my trails.

    • @Phonophobia
      @Phonophobia หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@edlorenz1552 I'm pretty sure it used to say it on their website, but I agree, it's not there (anymore). Might be mistaking then.
      But when you ride a bike with those reach numbers in their respective sizes, don't be so dazzled with a BB drop of that range. :D One extreme seems fine, the other not. Glad you enjoy that thing though!
