@AndrewToovey I went to Suny Fredonia, My guitar teacher was Joanne Castallani and her husband Mike taught guitar at Buffalo. Many times I went up there to see them preform. Almost all the time Morton Fledman sat behind me. He was not the nicest to sit behind. He would talk loudly, cough allot, smoke (you could smoke back then at a concert, I did too). I was into advant garde music so I knew who he was.
May I sing your praises, Andrew Toovey, for putting up this masterpiece? What a brilliant collaboration--and they barely knew each other. Perhaps the thing that Beckett and Feldman most agreed upon was space: the words not spoken, the music not heard, are the most poignant.
@EnriqueYgluf It is not available which is a great shame - This copy was given to me at the time of the production but has never been realised. Glad you enjoyed it on here.
@saladshootavvv There was a really interesting article about Feldman in the New Yorker not long ago; it says that Feldman was a big, loud, brusque, big-talking kind of guy. I think it's really interesting - his personality had more-or-less the opposite qualities of his music.
@AndrewToovey Part 2 But at the time I was into Berio and didn't understand Fledman's music. Went up to see Aki Takahashi play "Triadic Memories" it was too slow for me at the time. In the last few years I pulled Feldman up on TH-cam and I'm totally blown away by his music.
Andrew, I wonder whether you have a better quality version of the video which you could upload. The video itself is quite intriguing and it is, as you say, a pity it has not been released commercially. Thanks.
@@AndrewToovey Hi Andrew, I have recently been researching this opera by Feldman and the film of this opera is very important to my thesis. I am very much looking forward to you uploading it again. Thank you.
@@敬李-l7c I've looked into this and the copyright is owned by hat(now)ART who have taken the other sections (2-5) of line - so although they have realised a CD of the work they have not realised this film so please contact them. I was given this film with permission from the director of the opera so sad they will not allow it to be seen as I know it was very much enjoyed by many people. Hope you thesis goes well - I studied with Feldman.
Yuri Andropov the other 4 parts are also available - not sure why you can't find them - sorry. Just noticed the other parts seem to under KP and not me now - not sure why but I hope you find them.
Hola David, Hello David. Creo que hablas español... (if you do not speak Spanish, tell me...)
Morton Feldman is my hero!
GREAT!!!!
Thanks for the video! Feldman is one of the most brilliant composers of the twenties century.
God, I would die to see the whole opera. This is such a magnificent work...

This performance has been re-released on Hat Hut records #180 in a new CD master. Spectacular.

So wonderful to watch - is there any chance you could put up the entire 'opera' as one whole complete segment instead of various chunks?

it will be played next season at the Berliner Staatsoper ... so happy!! :D

Hello. I'm doing my thesis on Samuel Beckett's Radiophonic Plays. Is there any written material on the Feldman/Beckett colaborations?
